Last year we discovered Eat, Sleep Shop in Bredasdorp Square and it was the best new find in the region so decided to visit this year again and found the food just as delicious and the welcome and hospitality absolutely fantastic. We visited for breakfast on a Saturday and got a lovely table in the sun with a large parasol. The hostess, Zanele, was super and worried about our sitting in the hot sun, but it was just what we wanted at the start of our holiday. I had a steak sandwich and my husband had a full breakfast - both were absolutely delicious. The staff are all superb and check you're happy with your food but Zanele was fantastic - the perfect hostess. She even remembered us when we returned a few days later, despite it always being busy. During the week, it was quieter but on the Saturday we got the last outside front facing table and people kept coming. The shop has a lovely array of gift items and the view out the front is lovely of Bredasdorp Square. You almost don't realise you're right on the main road. There is a large menu with a mouthwatering selection but on each occasion I had a sandwich (one was a panini) and they were both absolutely fantastic. Bredasdorp is one of the larger towns in the area with lots of shops so probably not somewhere you'd stop on a holiday, but Eat, Sleep, Shop in Bredasdorp Sqaure should definitely be on the itinerary. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Amazing shop/ restaurant/ hotel.

To find a place like this in such a small town is unusual. The shop is full of delightful items you don’t see anywhere else. Many household items, lots of Italian speciality items to eat and use in the house plus much much more. The restaurant/ coffee shop is of an excellent quality but the coffee is the only black mark. I’m sure the rooms are equally impressive but we never stayed there. This shop would not be out of place in Sandton or Cape Town. Great service and very friendly staff.

Stopped for quick lunch and sat outside overlooking a lovely garden. A very busy, huge restaurant with a good variety of food on the menu. Tasty generous portions. Friendly staff and good service. Won’t be disappointed

Worst ever accommodation experience!!!!!!!!!!

Poor, cheap very old linen. Although it was clean. No hot water for 3 of the 6 days we stayed there. Room kettle leaking and cable too short. Had to pour water into cup from floor. No toilet paper in bathroom. Owner not helpful or giving attention to my issues. Room was not properly vacuumed the whole week even before arrival. Very old television. 250mb capped wifi for the duration of the stay. Electrical equipment not working, such as lights and extrator fan very noisy when it switched on. Bath runs empty since the bath plug doesn’t seal properly.

Beautiful place with great food

We are currently staying in Arniston and decided to pop over to Bredasdorp for lunch. We found this place on TripAdvisor and gave it a go based on recommendations and pictures we saw. The ambience is great and there’s so much more to it than just the restaurant. Very well curated selection of beautiful items from homeware, candles, jewelry through local gins to toys with quite an impressive selection of LEGO. You can just wonder around and discover yet another seating space - indoor and outdoor. Our kids loved the koi pond as well as the bikes and tractors that they could ride outside. Food was delicious and quick. Staff friendly and very helpful with regards to tips on things to do in the area. We will definitely come back during our current stay.

Absolute glamour in the Platteland!

What an amazing place with good coffee and the BEST home made cake ever. The gifts are also very different and very special. We wanted to visit a second time but what a pity they were closed on a Sunday, to the surprise of many tourists.

Bredasdorp's Best!

We've been visiting this part of South Africa's Overberg region for a decade and I've always wanted to try the Eat, Sleep, Shop in the Square as it's the prettiest building in the town. So this year, my husband and I went for breakfast one day - and loved it so much, we visited twice more in a week. The first time we visited was mid morning, so we had a delicious brunch (my hubby had a full breakfast and I had a toasted sandwich with chips) and sat outside in the sun with a parasol. The chap who served us was fabulous and worried we may be too hot so offered us a table on their lovely stoep, but we hadn't seen any sun for months, so it was a treat to sit outside and catch some rays. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional so a few days later, we took my in-laws for a visit and they were equally delighted and surprised at this fabulous establishment. Again we visited for brunch and this time sat inside, where the sumptuous surroundings make you feel like you could stay all day. We chose a table next to one of the fireplaces but there were several to choose from, all with a good amount of space so you don't feel like you're encroaching on someone else's mealtime. They even have an area out the back where you can eat - they have an uncovered small pond - there is a sign, but worth noting if you have young children or dogs. There is also a delightful little shop, where you can purchase locally made wares - trinkets and fabrics plus amazing looking food items. Each time we visited, the staff were superb and couldn't do enough for us - they were friendly, attentive and quick to bring our food and drink. Out of all the restaurants we visited this time, Eat, Sleep, Shop in Bredasdorp Square was my favourite and we will definitely be back when we visit in 2019.

Breakfast: Bredasdorp Square!

When visiting Bredasdorp in the Overberg area, of South Africa, look out for this restaurant and novelty shop. You will need at least a day, to wander through all 5he exquisite novelties. We ended our tour, with a wonderful (late) breakfast! Highly recommended!

Light lunch

My husband and I stopped for lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. We both opted for open sandwiches - I had the chicken mayo with avo and my husband had the roast beef with mustard and onion rings. The portion sizes were perfect - just enough for lunch. We both loved our meals (my husband described his as delightful). The bread was particularly nice - well baked. But if I may nit pick: please chefs, use salt in your cooking. The service was very friendly, engaging and efficient. I love the decor and ambience of the place; and I particularly liked being seated in the courtyard next to the koi pond. We will certainly be back.

Fantastic décor

We stopped at this magnificent restaurant on our way to the De Hoop Reserve, and we found a very elegant, welcoming ambience. The decor is just perfect (loved the black wall with the white&blue porcelain plates!) Food was absolutely delicious!

Beautiful and interesting and good food

My wife and I visited the place to have some breakfast. The Overberg Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed and their "Flat White" coffee was goood. We were sitting on the stoep/porch and started wondering where all the people went that passed us - they did not seem to exit again! Then we discovered the beautiful interior and little corners where you can sit and enjoy your meal/coffee as well as a very interesting list of products that they sell. This gem is really worth a visit!
