A popular and well-established restaurant in Mykonos’ old town, near the harbour, Niko’s Taverna seems to be always crowded and bustling, with a lively atmosphere. We had dinner and whilst the meal was OK, it was not memorable. However it was still a fun atmosphere...for our first night in Mykonos. The food is hearty, traditional Greek fare, the menu is extensive and servings are generous. We had the Greek salad, moussaka and fish with potatoes and tomatoes. The moussaka was by far the better dish as the fish was solid and heavy and I didn’t enjoy it much. We should have refused the bread, which we didn’t want and didn’t eat, but which is routinely put on the tables. Of course, we could have said no, but we didn’t think of it at the time or we overlooked it, so it ended up on our bill. Perhaps the real test is whether we’d go back again and there are so many other options in Mykonos, that we'd look elsewhere.More
