A popular and well-established restaurant in Mykonos’ old town, near the harbour, Niko’s Taverna seems to be always crowded and bustling, with a lively atmosphere. We had dinner and whilst the meal was OK, it was not memorable. However it was still a fun atmosphere...for our first night in Mykonos. The food is hearty, traditional Greek fare, the menu is extensive and servings are generous. We had the Greek salad, moussaka and fish with potatoes and tomatoes. The moussaka was by far the better dish as the fish was solid and heavy and I didn’t enjoy it much. We should have refused the bread, which we didn’t want and didn’t eat, but which is routinely put on the tables. Of course, we could have said no, but we didn’t think of it at the time or we overlooked it, so it ended up on our bill. Perhaps the real test is whether we’d go back again and there are so many other options in Mykonos, that we'd look elsewhere.More

We were recommended Nikos by a friend and I wish we hadn’t listened. Location was great in the heart of old town Mykonos, not far from the old port. Atmosphere was good and it was exceptionally busy which was great as it is nearly the...end of the season. Our advice, just for for drinks. The food was awful. Looked great but when I say it tasted like the sea, I mean SALTY. My seafood spaghetti was as near as damn it inedible. I ate about a quarter and needed a gallon of water to remove the taste. The wife’s snapper looked amazing and was so fresh the eyes of the fish were like mirrors but just didn’t taste of anything. Plain and overcooked. Very disappointed. Don’t take my word for it as other reviews are brilliant so we may have just had a very unlucky experience. Plenty of better places to go in my view but make your own mind up.More

Great food, authentic experience, huge portions, and value is great. Politeness could be better. We shared a traditional Greek salad, moussaka, and two glasses of wine, and baklava. All were delicious and nice size portions.

We ordered and within 5 mins we had our starters. Within 15 mins, we had our mains. The rabbit special was tough and the mixed souvlaki was partially cooked. Aimed at cruise ship customers and not a restaurant to bother with unless you want fast...food at premium prices. Not authentic, not even one cat under the table, that says a lot. Avoid unless you hate cats.More

Nice taverna, with good service. The food was good and plentiful. WE were given a basket of bread that, co-incidentally, I had seen placed on another table earlier. We refused the bread (and the subsequent $4 charge) and so it made its way to other...unsuspecting diners! Ov erally, I think this place is one of the better values for money in a very overpriced Mykonos, and I would defnitely go again.More

Bang in the heart of the old town, so a guaranteed grabber of the hordes who congregate in that area. Decided to give it a try. My grilled sardines were ok but I threw up later at night. Others in the group had tagliatelle with...salmon, and fish baked with tomatoes, which they said was good. A little disappointing as there were no real mezes that tavernas usually have. They charge Euro 6 for the bread and olives they bring to the table as soon as you sit down, without asking if you want it.More

Everything was delicious! We had Retsina with our meal and at the end we enjoyed fresh Baklava with ice cream.

Nice place to have some seafood and drink ouzo. Not something special but value for money was OK. Good service, polite waiters.

To start you feel like the staff are doing you a favor by paying attention to your request. The food is dropped as the waiter passes, not asking if you wish to have any condiments. My Fruit of the sea has pieces of clam and...oyster shells scattered throughout my meal. My wife ask three times for butter for the bread we never ordered but were charged. Tourist trap that should be shut down to protect consumers.More

Excellent service, very good food. Sea food was perfectly cooked. We had mussels and fried fish. Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated to a small terrace like a private veranda which was really fun. Prices were reasonable which is not the norm...for Myconos. Deffinetely reccomended for fish.More

Definitely a very busy place, but I would not recommend for those with allergies. Very few options that are gluten free, especially if you are also dairy free or vegan. The service is also very slow

Food was not bad but it was the worst I have had so far in Greece. I took the sea food risotto, half the risotto was actually barley, there was no creaminess to the very watery tomato sauce and half the mussels had not opened...during the cooking process. My wife took the veal which was dry and overcooked, tasteless and looks like a reheated frozen dinner. We were with two other people and wanted separate checks, they said they would separate the check after we got the bill. They did but one of our dining companions was charged 168 euros instead of the 16.80 euros because the person with the credit card machine misread the split bill that was handwritten. We did get the money back but in cash not as a credit on the bank card. I must say this is not the first time we had trouble getting a split bill. It seems they expect one bill per table no matter how many people are sitting at the table.More

Absolutely incredible family owned restaurant. Been around 30+ years, the owner greets you at the door with a big smile and checks in throughout the meal. Server Chris was phenomenal, extremely professional but also makes you feel like you’re eating at your own kitchen table....Highly recommend the shrimp moussaka - Clever twist to one of the most traditional greek dishes. 11/10 would go back tomorrow if I could.More

This place is a tourist trap. It was the worst food we got in Greece. The chicken was overcooked and flavorless the fries were not crunchy and tasted weird. The waiter puts bread on the table which you will get charged for, even if you...do not eat it. Our bill had even double the amount of bread on it (they changed it after us questioning it). Overall this place is a tourist trap and a scam. There are far better options. Do not go thereMore
