Good steaks

We recently had lunch at this venue. It was very quiet for a Friday, with just two of us at first, with only four more arriving during our time there. The decor fits the steakhouse theme with the tables being spread over two levels. A sirloin steak order came done as requested, with a very good complimentary house sauce. A burger order was not as good. Whilst the presentation was excellent, the burger patty was not the best. Overall, this appears to be a good venue and a second visit is required to make a full and proper assessment.

Visited 7:30 as part of a group of 21. Slow service to start (waited 20 mins before a drinks order was taken). However, food order and serving of food only took 30 mins. Food was delicious and good portion sizes, especially the 400g burger! Reasonable prices. They ran out of desserts but offered an alternative which was just as delicious. Would recommend.

A gem the locals love!!

I seldom if ever go back to a restaurant two nights in a row, but The Saleyard drew us back! Beyond 5 stars and where the locals go! Exceptional menu and steaks that are hard to describe in a review. Just take our word, definitely worth a visit. All local produce from the meat to the vegetables and salad(kitchen garden on the premises). Great food, ambience and staff who want you to come back again and again. Thank you Naughty ( the Chef who knows her meat!), Vanessa, Elise and those hardworking waiting staff.

An unexpected find just outside Winterton.

An unexpected, really pleasant find just outside Winterton. Will definitely go back. Would have given 5 stars but the burger patties were overcooked, which was a pity because they were proper beef. Will try steaks next time. Comprehensive menu and drinks list. Reasonably priced.

Dissapointing experience

We've been to Saleyard Restaurant before Covid March 2020. On our Midlands Meander we booked a Tuesday lunch. The reception was friendly and the service as usual. There was a group who left shortly after we arrived. Our food arrived and minutes after we started our meal a Taxi dropped off 10 extremely loud, irritating females- who for sure already had some alcoholic refreshments, no respect for other guests, shouting at each other and just totally taking over the total space, NOT what you would expect at Saleyard. There was no manager to complain about this UNACCEPTABLE nightmare disturbing situation, we requested our food to be packed as take away and left, I doubt if we would ever return.

Great food, again and again!

Had the seafood platter and it was divine. We make the trip to the coast every December and stop over in the Berg for a night or two. Recently discovered the Saleyard steakhouse and we have not been disappointed. Steaks 💪🏻 seafood 💪🏻 and beer on tap 💪🏻 always a good vibe. Food might take 5 minutes longer than in Pretoria but it is well worth it💪🏻💪🏻 well be back on our way up again.

Moms Birthday

Visiting area from Durban for Moms birthday. Went for lunch at sale yard on recommendation of trip advisor and wow we were not disappointed. Our waitress Nomusa was an absolute darling. The food was outstanding and then Mom was surprised with a birthday pudding. Totally unexpected and just such a thoughtful finishing touch. Highly recommended all round

Good 'sale' at the Yard

I have been here a few time and every time it gets better and better. The food is excellent and the service is spectacular. The cdecor is a contrast between Africa and the Wild west. I love the wine. The restaurant is an old barn on a farm. Fresher ingrediants you won't find anywhere else in the vicinity.

The good, the bad and THE UGLY

The good, the bad and the ugly. We celebrate most of the family's birthdays with lunches and dinners here, this has sadly come to an end. We celebrated my mothers birthday there Saturday 24th of feb and wow what a shock we were in for. The orders started off with the light fish and chips snack plate, no squid heads available and we were told that no substitution or anything would be aloud in its place. We then requested it to be taken further and that was sorted out when the meal came the forgot the onion rings off that was later brought to the table. it gets worse... The burgers, my sister and her guest were horrified, the patties were cooked from frozen burnt not an over char just burnt on the outside and inside still raw..... The plastic was left n the patties and melted in... Yet this still is not the end of it... The one burger meal had a rib bone in the chips, not a fresh one either i might add, as if the chips from some ones left overs had been scraped into the fryer to be reheated. We were sickened and I can speak on behalf of the family we will not be back. I hope you deal with this in the correct manner and pull it together because this was far from acceptable.

Fly in food

Well i visited the restaurant 2 days ago expecting to enjoy a good meal. Right after i got my meal, wich took almost 1.5 hours, i found a big fly in my food, after i tried to ask them to give me a new meal, the answer i got was that i should just eat it Never again!!!

We recently visited the Saleyard Steakhouse for a second time on our annual family trip to the Berg. Once again blown away with the amazing meals all round... I personally had the Saleyard Burger 400g patty which is one of my best Burgers ever tasted... ITs MASSIVE! Lovely setting and just off the main road in the country side.... Service is good and restaurant clean... Will be returning again, and again... :-)

Lovely farm setting not too far from Winterton.

The service was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the food was not up to standard. My friend had curry which was served with a sort of savoury rice. There was very little meat in the pot. It was mainly made up of bone and potato. Very disappointing. The other three in the party had burgers. Two of these came burnt. On delivering them the waitron also mixed up the sauces for the burgers and I received what should have been for my husband.
