We stopped for breakfast on our way back. It was a great experience. Old sandstone building with a different and interesting menu. Everybody in our group had something different and all enjoyed their meal. Relaxing atmosphere an good service. My salted caramel peanut butter milkshake...was fabulous, but I will have to go back for the chocolate chili milkshake. Will definitely be backMore

Thank you Riaan for your lovely revue. We are so glad you enjoyed your stop at The Phatt Chef, and especially the salted caramel milkshake. We look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future this time to enjoy one of our...More
This is our second visit to The Phatt Chef Roadside Diner. A group of 9 took a drive out for Burgers. The staff were friendly, efficient and polite considering we were a rowdy bunch. From Open Ham Sandwiches, Pulled Pork sarmies and Hamburgers which were...freshly made with generous servings the food was super divine. Add the caramelized onion on your burger and you won't go wrong. For the sweet tooth, the chocolate and caramel milkshake is to die for. The view is lovely and well worth another visit.More

We are sorry you were met with a closed kitchen on a Friday afternoon. We are usually open until 3.30pm, especially on a Friday afternoon, but we were preparing for a dinner function and had to close the kitchen a little earlier than normal. We...More
After a fairly long drive from Clarens and stop off at Sterkfontein Dam in very cold windy weather I needed a break and a hot cappuccino. Quaint old house converted into a pub and restaurant. Not busy probably due to weather conditions and I only...had some crumpets for tea so can't say much about their menu. Was a bit slow but I think there was only one waitress on duty and she was very pleasant. Loved the feel of the place.More

Thank you for your lovely review. Yes unfortunately very few people brave the weather when the wind is blowing, we are glad to see you did. We hope to see you again.
The house is lovely with a stoep almost all the way around. What a peaceful setting g with beautiful lawns and views. The pulled pork sandwich was a not what we expected but the burgers were great. A good stop for lunch.
The Phatt Cheff staff had a very busy Human Rights weekend catering for many trail participants, supporters and organisers. We were hoping for early sit-down dinner, between registration on Friday, and the non-compulsory briefing, but realised it was not feasible. We stayed in proximity, and...on driving back home Sunday, hoped on having breakfast. It was divine. Despite staff still cleaning up outside, the kitchen appeared to have been in full swing and serving several patrons. We will most certainly make a point of visiting again to try other menu items.More
