Good food. Terrible service. Absolutely shocking treatment from the owner Simon. I will not be back.

Perfect spot for lunch in the Oliviershoek pass. Lawn to stretch your legs, space for the cramped kiddos to roam free, water bowels for fur babies. Take in the view, relax and order a pie…
Highly, highly recommend the delicious cheeseburgers - one of the best we've ever had. Friendly hosts and dog :) We wish that we could have been in the area longer to try the pies! A great spot.
We had some good meals and enjoyed the beautiful location. The split between the shop and the restaurant can be a little confusing though.
We stopped for breakfast on our way back. It was a great experience. Old sandstone building with a different and interesting menu. Everybody in our group had something different and all enjoyed their meal. Relaxing atmosphere an good service. My salted caramel peanut butter milkshake...was fabulous, but I will have to go back for the chocolate chili milkshake. Will definitely be backMore
Thank you Riaan for your lovely revue. We are so glad you enjoyed your stop at The Phatt Chef, and especially the salted caramel milkshake. We look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future this time to enjoy one of our...More
This is our second visit to The Phatt Chef Roadside Diner. A group of 9 took a drive out for Burgers. The staff were friendly, efficient and polite considering we were a rowdy bunch. From Open Ham Sandwiches, Pulled Pork sarmies and Hamburgers which were...freshly made with generous servings the food was super divine. Add the caramelized onion on your burger and you won't go wrong. For the sweet tooth, the chocolate and caramel milkshake is to die for. The view is lovely and well worth another visit.More

Thank you for your visit to The Phatt Chef and glad you enjoyed your tea and scones.
Stopped in after a long drive from PTA thinking we'd try somewhere new. TripAdvisor saws open to 15h30 and it was a Friday. We're greeted with a kitchen closed. Next time well just go straight the favourite spot 30km down the hill.More
We are sorry you were met with a closed kitchen on a Friday afternoon. We are usually open until 3.30pm, especially on a Friday afternoon, but we were preparing for a dinner function and had to close the kitchen a little earlier than normal. We...More
We just stop for a drink. The pace have a lot of character, a nice shop, restaurant and we loved the bar area.
After a fairly long drive from Clarens and stop off at Sterkfontein Dam in very cold windy weather I needed a break and a hot cappuccino. Quaint old house converted into a pub and restaurant. Not busy probably due to weather conditions and I only...had some crumpets for tea so can't say much about their menu. Was a bit slow but I think there was only one waitress on duty and she was very pleasant. Loved the feel of the place.More
Dear Gloria, Thank you for your lovely review. Yes unfortunately very few people brave the weather when the wind is blowing, we are glad to see you did. We hope to see you again. Kind Regards Jenna
