O GOUVEIA used to be very good (we used to be regulars!!) but not anymore. We ordered something on the menu to only be told 1hr later that they didn’t have the dish anymore. The waiter had such a snappy attitude, and told us it...wasn’t the restaurants fault. Plus, the service is extremely slow, we only got the food 1.5hr later ! DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!More

Staff was very courteous and friendly. Good was tasty, had the lagartos, grilled pork cuts, which went great with the olive oil and garlic. Simple but very good. The desert with local produce of fresh cheese and jam was likewise excellent. Prices are very good.

Food was really poor! We went here on our first night in the area as it was rated 1st on trip advisor. Doesn’t say much for the others, or the remainder of our trip! I had the vegetable soup to start which was absolutely tasteless...and lacked any flavour or seasoning just big chunks of cabbage. I had the cod main course which was undercooked and despite being covered with raw garlic was rather tasteless. The only tasty thing on the plate were the potatoes. My parter has the mixed grill but struggled to even cut the steak and the belly pork was tough. The sausage and pork escalope were ok and the chips were tasty. We didn’t have any hope left and didn’t attempt the desserts. Very disappointed and wondered whether everyone else dined at a different restaurant. It was cheap however at only 25 euros which included a beer, a soft drink and a coffee. Def won’t be back.More

Open and AMAZING. Great food and value - for peasant outside patio. As many sides as you like and unlimited wine. Loved the pana cotta. Serving at 7 pm.

After 1 week of good food in Portugal, we did not expect to find such great food, enthousiastic staff and owners, they simply raise the bar higher. This is a familly owned restaurant, where both the parents and their 2 kids (excellent English speakers by...the way) work, in addition of an extensive staff. Service was top, very friendly with constant attention to the guests, the place is kid friendly too, and food is both regional and very well made. The menu is limited which show dedication to freshness and quality, desserts were inventive and not heavy, a discovery of their talent in cooking and innovativeness. This place is the type to be mentionned on Michelin "bib gourmand" list, it's worth going there if you pass by or overnight in town.More

The restaurant is good and modern but it is a casual and local restaurant. We had the mixed grill and beefsteak. Those were very good pieces of meat and very large portions. The fries were homemade and freshly baken. We had the wine of the...house and dessert and coffee. All that for the price of 22€. The waiters are brother and sister and if we understood it well the mother was cooking in the kitchen.More

We visited this restaurant while on touring holiday of Portugal. An indication that this was a good choice was the number of local customers in the place. We found the service and quality of food to be excellent. All of the staff were very friendly...and attentive. Even the chef visited the diners to ensure that they were satisfied with their food. This place is REAL Portugal and somewhere that I have no hesitation in recommending. Furthermore, the price was most reasonable!!! Well Done, we had a great visit!More

This restaurant was located not far from the house we rented. The atmosphere was very relaxed, even though the cook was preparing dinner for a large group of people sitting inside the restaurant. Very nice and honest cuisine for a very, very, very affordable price!
