I was staying here on business and the staff were exceptionally helpful. The food was first class, always trust a busy restaurant, and this was always busy. Set in a beautiful area of Holland, the hotel is a Mecca for wildlife, and has peacocks on...patrol. The trees in the garden seem particularly popular with crows. No problems here for a good nights sleep, unless there is a wedding on in the venue in the car park (if you’re needing to sleep, it may be worth asking).More

Landgoed Ekenstein's restaurant La Belle Epoque has two big rooms with a historical interior and atmosphere. If weather permits you can also have your food served outside on the nice big terrace in the park on the back of the building dated from 1648 (extended...in 1772 and 1870). 3-course dinner is € 29.50 while a 7-courses dinner is € 69,50. All dishes were well prepared, nicely presented and tasty. Accompanied fresh cooked vegetables portions were big, not in a mini bowl you so often get elsewhere. This is what you expect as food and service for your money in a restaurant, but hard to find in same price range restaurants nowadays in the rest of Holland.More

We had diner at ekenstein. A very nice location radiating the old atmosphere of the building. The food was simple and ok-ish on taste. Limited wine selection, but the bottle we had was good

Ekenstein, near the characteristic town of Appingedam, is a charming 19th century mansion. Its restaurant, La Belle Epoque, has a cosy atmosphere and offers nice views over the pond and the park in the back. We recently had an ejoyable dinner with friends and settled...for their 3-course dinner at a price of € 29.50. For starters, choices were asparagus soup or carpaccio, for the main couse, there was plaice or sirloin, and the dessert offered fresh berries with marscapone. All dishes were deliciously prepared and nicely presented. The house wines that were recommended by the friendly and efficient staff combined very well with our food and were offered at € 3.50 per glass. We capped the evening off with coffee and sweets. All in all a very enjoyable experience. Wheather permitting, dinner can also be served on the large terrace with the same beautiful viewsMore

In my opinion the best restaurant in Appingedam. Tried several, but this is really on top. Rather smaller menu however very well presented and tasteful.

We have been here several times over the past years when we travel to the area. We came with my parents & aunt to see if the restaurant for dinner to see if it has maintained its service & quality! We all went away with...a smile on our face, as the food was tasty and staff were efficent, firendly. This iconicfine dining establishment has been located in the area for many years, for large parties or small, you have an option of booking a specific room.More

The lunch menu here is not extensive but the food delicious, well prepared and presented. The soup was smooth and tasty and the rolls generously filled. The room was sumptuous with high ceilings, a warm cosy log fire, interesting architecture and stained glass windows. The...service was friendly and efficient. All in all an excellent lunch.More

Dinner in this country estate proved to be a flexible affaire. The waiter showed infinite patience, while we chose different combinations from a 3 course menu. Some chose to have just the first and last course, others had all three courses, and the rest opted...for the main course and the dessert. The smoked salmon first course was fairly ordinary with little decoration. The main course with fish of the day was ample, well presented and of good quality. The desserts were satisfactory. While the location in a large park on the outskirts of Appingedam, a picturesque town in North-East Groningen, is unbeatable, the dinner itself was not exceptional.More
