Awesome place. Quality of service is top notch, with everyone beeing very friendly. Taste of the food is unmatched by anything else in Tuscany. The restaurant is worth driving from far away and may be one of the best if not the best in Tuscany

Wonderful atmosphere in this charming place selling mostly local products of high quality. A great place to experience local culinary traditions.

Stopped in Asciano on drive from Siena to Pienza with a planned stop at Monte Olivetto. Cute town. Really felt like you were in Italy. Very local - no English spoken:) Had tuscan bread soup, meat and cheese tray. Truly enjoyed the stop and restaurant. Church in town was celebrating its 1000th year.

Don't expect pizza or pasta here (they don't serve them!) but rather some great cheese selections and cured meats. The portions are large and the prices incredibly reasonable - our four dishes, half liter of wine and sparkling water was just 36E for lunch (fed three people). The crostini sampler (four varieties) was excellent with the truffle spread being the best one as well as the prosciutto and caprese dish (very tasty buffala cheese! The woman working behind the counter speaks some English so it is relatively easy to get service. Do take time to take the steps down to the historic cellar - it dates from the 7th century.

The food was very good and traditional Tuscan food. Under the restaurant is a 2000 year old cave where the owners store cheese and ham. The service was great and the owners really nice! Highly recommendable. Not expensive.

This is more like a trattoria, lovely cheeses and cured meats with some soups and cold plates. Don’t expect pizza or pasta. But the tiny shop is gorgeous and the food delicious. Perfect if you want to taste everything Tuscany has to offer. They also sell some fantastic antique grain pasta made locally. Well worth Ruth a visit. No English spoken.

We came by Asciano during our (self organized, with Some help of Google Maps) tour through the Tuscan hills. We found this restaurant through tripadvisor and we have to say: their reviews are well earned! It is a very cosy restaurant with a misted terrace to keep everybody cool :-). The food is typical italian and of a very good quality. The staff is very helpfull and friendly. So If you are in the area; Enjoy your lunch at La Botteghina! Ps: the anchovy is truly amazing!

We were running a bit late for lunch and hit upon this gem of restaurant where nothing is too much trouble and the food excellent and plentiful - and cheap. After our excellent meal the owner took us down to see the cellars below the restaurant. What a place.

We ordered a tasting of cold cuts, cheese and vegetables, carpaccio, and some kind of liver meatballs. Everything was really good and tasty. The owner is the best. This is a perfect spot if you are looking for authentic food.

My son & I went here for lunch on a quiet Tuesday in August. The menu is hand written & quite difficult to read but there is a good choice of typical Tuscan meats & cheeses of excellent quality. They also have some more unusual dishes such as the Farro salad (spelt salad with vegetables) which I enjoyed, as I did the Bresaola but there was too much on the plate for one person. We had a plate of crostini to start with & my son said his prosciutto e melone was delicious. Prices are very reasonable & the service is pleasant. Below ground there is an Etruscan grotto dating from between 400 & 100 AD which you are invited to visit. It became a prison in the middle ages but you would only want to spend a very short time there!

This hidden gem in Asciano is run by our dearest friend Louisa and her. Husband. They produce the best food you can imagine. Not the pasta or Pizza, but bresaola, prosciutto, pecorino and all other flavours of the Crete Senesi. Sympathetic in its high quality format and always giving a warm welcome.
