I visited the Daffodil restaurant for a bite to eat and have never had a more pleasant experience. Kerry and Raji were so welcoming and this was just the start of the experience. There was a lovely chilled vibe in the restaurant which is situated in a beautiful location and is topped off with excellent service from the waiters. I had the Rock Lobster which was quite frankly out of this world. The selection and freshness of the seafood on offer is absolutely incredible as were the cocktails. I would 100% recommend this restaurant and I cannot wait to return soon. Thankyou guys

Fantastic service, atmosphere (music is the best in Unawatuna) and food. My husband had the special chicken and I had the tuna steak. Don't get me started on the chips because I could write a novel on how bloody perfect they were. And let me tell you fish is not cheap in Sri Lanka ESPECIALLY tuna but the prices were fantastic value and the portions were the perfect size for someone who is Welsh and 6ft 2.
Thank you Kerry and Raji for a fantastic night at Daffodil. We will definitely be back!!

Great night with live music...we had booked a table and on arriving our table was ready for us. The atmosphere there is very friendly and relaxed, there was live music the night we visited which was lovely. My husband ordered a fish from the fish market which he said was cooked beautiful and I had wraps which were lovely. The cocktails were some of the best I'd had in Sri Lanka, and we had travelled around. We can't wait to get back for another visit.

Visited here twice this week, the 2nd time was even better than the 1st. Great generous portions of tasty well cooked food served HOT - a bit of a rarity in SL - and served by friendly staff.
The Daffodil chicken I had was huge and very tasty.

Everything about this place is amazing! Now been here a few times and every time the food is delicious and tasty, they know exactly how to flavour the food catering for the western taste and portion sizes are very good (especially the seafood platter!). Then to top it off the atmosphere is always good and staff are so lovely and fun, making you feel comfortable and ensuring you have the best experience. Don’t miss out on the live music every Wednesday and Friday, best place to be!

Just called in for a cold beer, the ambiance was lively great music, chilled out. We turned up at sunset, always bad for mosquitos anywhere in the world, here we were offered natural citronella spray, works a treat ! The beer was really cold served in freezing mugs. Perfecto.
We decided to check out the food, we ordered the seafood platter to share, it was fabulous, so fresh, we chose our our fish and seafood from a wide selection. Red Snapper enourmous prawns, lobster size, small lobster, jumbo prawns, squid and crabs.
It came with great homemade chips, while rice, a salad with a superb dressing and roasted vegetables 😋 the fish was served on a hot plate. Is was all really good.
Not to forget the service which was exceptional.

Greetings from Denmark!
We came for lunch and tried the wraps which were huge and tasty. While dining, we saw other guests eating the seafood plate which is presented on a hot smoky plate, curious about it, we decided to come back for dinner.
The service was excellent, the owner of the restaurant is very knowledgeable and passionate about seafood. He helped us choose the best seafood from the market as to our preferences. The waiters were friendly and professional and service was fast.
The seafood serving was huge, in addition to the seafood plate, you get 2 side dishes of home cooked fries, rice, grilled vegetables and salad. The side dishes were big enough to be full meals on their own! The seafood was cooked perfectly, and the sauces served were exceptional.
We also had a wonderful evening listening to live music, the atmosphere was electric! This was my favorite evening of our Sri Lanka trip.

Walked past this restaurant and liked the look so stopped for a drink. Drinks whilst not the cheapest were all served really well and with the little touches you would expect from the higher prices. Whilst there food looked good so we decided to go the following night.
Restaurant had a live singer on who was good and again all drinks were well served with the extra little touches.
Seafood was all displayed on an ice platter outside the gate and you could choose the items you wanted. There did not seem to be a price per weight and price was just stated when you chose an item?
All food was really well cooked and served on a sizzling platter and butter added at the table creating even more theatre to the dish. But got to say the food was really good so it’s not all theatre.
All staff were well trained and really helpful. Owners were extra friendly too without being obtrusive. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

One of the best places in Unawatuna. You may even have to stand in line to get in, but it's worth it, the food is lightning fast, which sets them apart from other cafes in Sri Lanka. We took it by weight, fried squid - delicious and tuna steak, just an explosion of taste buds, perhaps more expensive than in other establishments, but worth it.

This restaurant was recommended to us by some friends in Colombo and it did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and fantastic food. Speedy and nice service too. And it will be a long time before we are able to eat at these prices again. try anything tuna - fresh and straight from the sea.

This is the best restaurant in Unawatuna. We visited many others during our stay but we just kept coming back to Daffodil.
The owner's Rajitha, his wife Kerry and there staff have created something very special here.
During our visits I tried the Butter fish, Prawn curry and best of all the sizzling seafood platter.
They have music two nights a week with local musicians playing a wide variety of songs. Get there early as it gets very busy.
A walk through the town any day of the week at evening time you will see many restaurants either empty or with few people in, yet Daffodil always has plenty of customers.
Great food, run by great people with great staff, with a great atmosphere. What's not to like 👍
It really is a must try.

I ordered a large plate. The cost does not meet expectations, since the seafood included: 2 octopuses, one crab in which there was nothing to eat, 4 shrimp and fish. The presentation of the dish is incomprehensible, that is, all the ingredients are mixed together in one sizzling frying pan. The fries are cold, everything is very oily, they don’t bring water with lemon for your hands. Wasted my time and money. I do not recommend this establishment.

As per our menu a seafood platter contains 1 whole fish, 1 jumbo prawn, 1 small lobster, 150g prawns, 150g calamari and 2 side dishes of chips, rice, salad & grilled vegetables.
As we didn’t have small lobsters in stock yesterday this was substituted with a large crab and 1 extra jumbo prawn, to which you were made aware of and agreed to before your order was placed.
Altogether your platter consisted of 1 whole fish, 2 jumbo prawns, 1 large crab, 150g prawns and 150g calamari and 2 side plates of chips, rice, salad and grilled vegetables.
We don’t understand how you can leave a 1 star review when you did not make a complaint in the restaurant, especially as the waiter asked you if you were happy with your meal, and you agreed.
We feel it is unfair to leave reviews like this without addressing it in the restaurant first, as we would have been able to solve any issues if you had raised them at the time.
We do not use a lot of oil on our seafood open grill. Platters are served in our famous cream based sauce that is clearly mentioned on the menu. We are the leading seafood restaurant in our area, and our famous for our platters, which see customers returning night after night to enjoy this feast. However we understand that not everyone has the same taste, so sorry for this not being to your particular taste.

Very good atmosphere, very friendly stuff, makes you feel very relaxed and welcoming. And food...it's like a dream in your plate and I have no words to explain how amazing was everything we tried.
It's our last day in Unawatuna tomorrow and my only wish is just to go there again to explore some unbelievable tastes :) Good luck to you, guys. You just doing everything right way!

We absolutely loved our stay at Daffodil, and wish we could have stayed longer! Daffodil felt like a home away from home, each member of staff was so lovely and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious; fantastic value for money! The food was delicious, great menu and perfect cocktails. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to stay or a place to dine, we would definitely recommend Daffodil! Thank you everyone, we’re already looking forward to our return :)

Considering im vegetarian i didnt do justice to their food since this is mainly a seafood place, and they seemed to have very fresh seafood and probably the only full place on the unawatuna stretch while i was here
The service was brilliant and they looked after me really well! Any requests were taken care of immediately and even more.
Definitely check this place out if you’re around
