About
The Rock Restaurant, in Michamvi Pingwe on Zanzibar Island, is an extraordinary restaurant, located in a unique position, on a rock in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The contrast of the unspoiled natural setting, down played decor and design vs the international standard food preparation and presentation is as novel and rewarding as its location. Serving up to 14 tables, all facing a wonderful terrace on the Ocean, the restaurant is connected to the mainland by boat, within high tide, and reachable by foot within low tide. It is also easy reachable by sea if coming by boat from an excursion. Perfect for a romantic dinner for two, or for a memorable evening with friends or family, it is open

We were three couples with great enthusiasm to enjoy and we found treatment from the staff bordering on rudeness, very weak food and expensive prices. Just the photo from the outside is worth it and can be done without having to endure all the bad...things.More

Visited The Rock for my friend’s birthday lunch - it was low tide so we were able to walk to the restaurant without taking a boat. We both ordered the lobster and chips which was plentiful and tasty. They don’t provide lobster tongs + forks...so it was a little tricky when attempting to reach the meat in the lobster legs. The staff were friendly and they presented a yummy chocolate birthday cake to my friend who was celebrating her special day. It should definitely be on your to-do list when visiting Zanzibar!More

Amazing build up & great service, it's a really special experience... Until the food arrives. You don't mind paying $140 for a meal if the food is at least pretty good, but unfortunately it was the most disappointing meal in Zanzibar. We're staying at a...hostel, and our meals there are 100 times better. The steak & chips was poor, came with no garnish, no sauce, no salad. The fish fillet was overcooked and potato chips (crisps) over salted. Very disappointed as the place itself is beautiful and the service is really good. Good for the 'gram, that's about it.More

We booked for 6pm so we got the sunset, although on our evening it wasn’t particularly spectacular. Cocktails were really good as were our starters of sweet and sour beef salad and octopus with polenta. Mains were equally as good and the pistachio cheesecake was...so good. We sat outside on the terrace and this seemed a lot better than being inside. A lovely evening.More

We were a family and we would rather have a private lunch in The Rock. So, we use the private services from Nevis Tours & Day Tours. All communication we had was excellent. George answered all WhatsApp and e-mails very quickly. We did 2 transfers...and 1 trip for day out. Our guide/driver, is excellent guide! He is very friendly and told us many stories and details regarding his country. He is also a very good driver. Highly recommended! And wonderful lunch in The Rock!!More

The food quality for pappardelle seafood and Gnocchi prawns are horrible, starters as well. Food hygiene is low as the waiters carry other tables used tissues and then immediately carry your plate or cutlery. The only good thing is the view and the weather in...the terrace. It’s good to go take a picture or 2.More
