We had been driving from Cape Town and my folks were super keen to have some breakfast. We had already stopped at a restaurant outside Robertson and Worcester and been told by both that their kitchens had closed for breakfast and that only lunch was available... this was before 11:30am. By the time we arrived at Die Boord it was 12:40 and although they close for breakfast at 12:30, the chef happily made some breakfast for Mom and Dad. The service was quick and efficient while still being warm and friendly. The breakfasts were both delicious and the food arrived hot and in a short space of time. I ordered a chicken salad that was absolutely ridiculously delicious. Normally, with a chicken salad you have to scratch around for the good bits but this salad had so many good bits, every bite was simply yummy! The coffee was excellent and the outdoor seating was cool and quirky. A perfect stop to break a long day on the road!

We stopped here for a quick bite on our way through and it was a great experience. There were good choices on the menu and the staff are friendly and helpful. It was a hot summer's afternoon and the seating outside was pleasantly cool. There were also various food and and other items to purchase.

Quite honestly the best place of food I have had in a very long time - first class and worth a visit if you pass by the area and want to eat

Pleasantly located on the Main Road in an Orchard setting overlooking the nearby Mountains. Mainly patio dining - watch out for the dodgy plastic chairs! Service was welcoming if unhurried. Menu limited but adequate - as was the food. Never going to be a gourmet venue but fine for the casual tea for two.

We only had a light lunch but the staff were friendly and the place is lovely and old worldly. Everybody around us seemed to be enjoying their food. A good place to stop on the way through Montague.

Our family stopped by Die Boord for a quick coffee on a gloomy morning in Montagu and were thoroughly impressed by their friendly service and stellar outdoor seating area. A few paces from our table was the entrance to the orchards, where one is free to explore. We all enjoyed our drinks and a had a quick browse through the farm stall before moving on down Long Street. I can't think of any reason why we won't be back soon!

As this review is written on opening day, I grant some things down to teething problems. However, some things should be right from the get-go, and lack of preparation, is no excuse for a poor dining experience. The dining facility is brand new, and stark. Some nice artwork adorns the walls and there is plenty of viewing over the orchard and country side outside. When we arrived, the place was about 40% capacity, and yet we were told "I will see if we can find a table for you".. OK, maybe first day nerves for the maitre'd. We were shown to our table, and immediately were taken aback by the plastic molded chairs. Not what we were expecting from a restaurant which is trying to position itself as being country and natural. On the table, was some paper printed menus, which really could have been, at the very least, laminated, or even in some sort of holder. The small things matter. After five minutes, we were attended to by a waiter, who was polite in taking our orders, and our drinks soon arrived as we waited for our breakfast. My wife, a coffee snob, was immediately put off by the milky weak coffee, and other drinks were merely placed on the table, bottled, un-opened, and un-decanted. The small things matter. Seventeen minutes after ordering, our breakfast on the table and looked well presented. The poached eggs were over-cooked, a real rookie mistake for any chef. Salt and pepper were not part of the table dressing, so we needed to flag down a waiter, which took a few minutes, to get some. Salt and pepper were supplied, not pepper corns to crack, or sea salt, but simple powedered salt and powdered pepper. The small things matter. My wife asked for some plain water, and a carafe and a stack of glasses were put on the table and the waiter disappeared quickly, leaving us to sort it out.. The ambiance in the room was akin to an half filled football stadium, and the feel is that of a hall, perhaps more suited to wedding receptions, or other functions, than that of a cafe/restaurant. I am giving this two stars, as I feel much of the teething problems should never have been apparent, especially as this is not a cheap-eats place, and priced a little over other cafes in the area. I will certainly go back, and hope for improvement.

Great toasted sandwiches and accompaniments, wonderful milkshakes... but undrinkable coffee. Friendly and attentive service made for an enjoyable experience but it's hard to think anyone can present coffee that is so completely tasteless.

Lovely atmosphere and overlooking the apricot orchard. Situated on the main road with shaded parking. Do try the home-made ginger ice-cream!

We (2) were passing through Montague at 2 pm and stopped for a quick coffee and cake. It was busy and we sat inside. We waited for service and eventually were served. Our order taken for 2 coffees and 2 cakes took 20 minutes to deliver. The cakes were average and cold from the fridge. The coffee was fine. Cappuccino at R 27 and cakes at R 37 each. Total of R 128.

We ordered 3x burgers, one contained a well-formed pattie, the other 2 were just a loose pile of minced meat. All three were smothered with a spicy condiment, above and below the meat. One was sent back. The apparent manageress eventually appeared at our table and asked, "everything OK?"; ignoring the fact that one of our party had no plate in front of him. When informed, "no, far from it, we sent one burger back" she said, "oh, I know!", and turned around and walked away. An extremely disappointing meal made worse by her utter indifference, uncompromising stance and unapologetic attitude.
