Imperial Garden serves absolutely delicious food at affordable prices. This is one of the very few places in Cape Town where you can get authentic Durban curries. On top of that, the experience is personal and friendly, and you will leave feeling well fed and well taken care of. On some nights they have live music, or buffet-style dinner. We ate here twice in one week, and would’ve loved to have gone back a third time.

Chow down some bunny chow! As Californians on a tour of South African cuisines, we wanted to find a place serving authentic Durban cuisine - in particular, bunny chow. Imperial garden has bunny chow down in spades. Not only is the food fantastic, the place honors the Durban influence on the Indian curry in its heavy dose of chili and Durban spices. The owner is also incredibly hospitable and passionate in sharing the story behind bunny chow and Durban cuisine in general. Really good stuff, looking forward to the next visit!

Most strikingly is the welcome one gets walking in on a cold and rainy August afternoon, looking for something to warm us up. We lived in Durban for ten years and love 'genuine' curries. The unique bunny chow is so much better a fast food than a hamburger, and Imperial Garden has staked it's claim for this delicacy. The new Durban Indian owners have continued providing Chinese food, and the take away traffic seemed enthusiastic.

We just had lunch at Imperial Gardens Indian Food and i must say that their briyani and chicken tikka was very well prepared and was extremely tasty. Their service was also exceptional and the staff / owners are so friendly.... highly recommended for holiday makers looking for a good home cooked meal.

We popped in late on a weekday evening without a booking for a Durban curry, and Vash could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The curry was perfectly spiced and simply delicious, and the samoosas she recommended as a starter were perfect. We'll definitely be back, can't wait to sample the bunny chow!

I'm a bit confused by the excellent reviews. Can't really give this one star because it looks like Indian food is more the specialty and maybe the Durban curries are excellent. But comparing the sweet and sour chicken to what you get at Saigon in town is like comparing a Trabant to a Rolls-Royce. These were frozen ingredients requiring next to no preparation and the sauce tasted so discount it's like they have a Jojo tank of it somewhere in the back. They're charging an arm and a leg relative to what it cost to produce this. I would've done a far superior job making it myself.

Saw the Bunny Chow ad in the window. We were the only customers. Freshly cooked veg samosas then Broad bean Durban curry in a bunny. The owner was very friendly and gave us a history of Indians in South Africa and the origins of the bunny chow. Highly recommended

Hey there to all hardcore bunnychow lovers. This message comes from Bilal and Luthfia (ex. Durbanites). We simply love our bunnychows and have been searching for the perfect place to purchase our bunnychow from. The search took us 3 years because that is how long we are in Cape Town for. Definitely a place you have to visit if you love a good bunny chow. Well done Aunty Vash on cooking the most delicious bunny I have ever eaten in Cape Town. Being from Durban, every new place Luthfia and Bilal have visited was a chance to critic the food and we both have concluded that Imperial Gardens definitely has the tastiest bunnychow (Durban style) and I would highly recommend Imperial Gardens if you want Durban brought to you right in Fish Hoek Cape Town. Well done to Uncle Desigan as well, who came all the way from Durban out to Cape Town and made the Restaurant into one of the most established and successful restaurants in Cape Town. Definitely 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Warm regards Bilal and Luthfia 16 July 2021 PS. Humble apologies for no pics attached. We got so distracted and anticipated the arrival of the bunnychow that when it came, we just dug right in.

You might not see from the outside what will happen inside. You step in and you are welcomed like you belong to the family. All attention is on you to have a relaxed but guided experience and mind blowing flavour explosions from every bite you taste. Was my first ever Durban Curry experience and I can only say WOW - Loved it!

Had a lovely experience, very friendly staff. And delicious food. I'm vegan and I ordered a jackfruit curry on Mr D and it was so delicious I went to the restaurant myself and bought another one. As well as chillibites, potato samoosas and veg spring rolls. But I absolutely loved the jackfruit curry. They use fresh jackfruit and not canned. Definitely recommend when you're in the fish hoek area! ❤️

While touring Fishhoek in October we happened to find this restaurant called Imperial Gardens. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant my family and I felt right at home. The owners Desigan and Varsh were impeccable as they hosted us. We were waited upon with such good care and hospitality and when the food arrived we knew we made a right choice. The food was yummy. My husband and I had the seafood platter for 2 but it could feed 4. My daughter and her friends had sushi and Chinese food. Each one of us enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere. Thank you Desigan Varsh and Dillion for making us feel at home away from home. This is a must go to restaurant. Thank you guys from Niresh Reena Cheyenne Chloe and Talia 23 October 2021

As a young Durban man who hasn't been home to Durban in 5 years, finding this authentic Durban Restaurant serving incredible Durban cuisine bought a tear to my eye, excuse the pun. If you love your bunny chow or Durban cuisine I suggest you grab a bite to eat at Imperial Garden. Great service and so friendly! felt like I never left Home.

The food at this spot is absolutely amazeballs and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who just loves a good samoosa and is willing to drive and pay for it. It is a bit on the expensive side and small but it is worth the drive and the money. The bunnychow was better than a night on the pier, if I could make babies with it the offspring would be called kaak lekker.

It was by pure luck that we happened upon this quaint restaurant a few months ago. Car problems. Frustrating and tired we decided to pop in down the road to have a quick bite to eat while waiting for a part. We ended up staying for 3 hours. The friendly reception from this family owned business had me sold immediately. All we needed was the food to be good... and we were not disappointed. Good Gracious Me! How this restaurant is not a franchise by now is beyond me. Between us, we had the chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork, sweet and sour prawns and mutton breyani. And we were not disappointed. All I can say is I am sorry I didn't know about you guys earlier. What an amazing experience. Small, family friendly and actually quite luxurious. Thank you for welcoming us during a very sh*tty day and making things better!
