Our tour guide recommended this little place which was just around the corner from our hotel. First impression was not great - it’s a bit dusty and run down but anyone touring this part of Laos will know to look beyond that! The welcome was good and the food was incredible. The lady owner did everything by herself and food is cooked from scratch but well worth the wait. The spring rolls were delicious and fried noodles with seafood perfectly cooked and seasoned. And sitting having dinner surrounded by (hopefully deactivated) bombs was quite an experience!

The sign on the wall says the best food in town, but after eating there I told them they need to change the sign to say the best food in Laos! I found this place looking for restaurants on Google maps after struggling to find decent food around Phonsavan, and it’s one of the best google searches I’ve ever done. The reviews say stuff like “best spring rolls I’ve ever eaten” and “green curry so good”, so I ordered both. It took a while to come, and they kept apologising to me because they have to make the spring rolls fresh - yeah, like that’s an issue! The whole time I’m waiting, I’m watching every meal get orepped on the fly right down to the herbs and spices in the mortar and pestle. It’s a tiny place, but it’s bustling with locals coming and going getting their takeaways in their plastic bags. Food panda delivery guys coming and going (think Laos Uber eats) and school kids doing the western kids version of sneaking in a trip to Maccas for an after school snack. Do yourself a favour and find this tiny hidden gem down a non-descript back alley!!!

This is a great wee place and worth seeking out even though it is out of the way. It has some of the best food in Phonsavan and an affable, knowledgable owner. The food is always outstanding and consistent, delicious Lao treats, try the laarb and cucumber Tam Som (salad). Highly recommend this if you are up in the plane of jars.

This restaurant provided me exactly what I needed from a family run business. The food was good and a larger variety than other restaurants because I really wanted French fries and got them! Also the sweet sausage was amazing! Loved the spring rolls too and the fried rice my husband had was a winner. Pack your patience as the wife is doing a lot of work but it did take longer than what we Westerners usually accept. But I’d return!

We sampled numerous restaurants in Phonsavan and this was the best by far. The food was well made and the service friendly. It was a bonus that some English was understood. Other places visited were extremely hampered by a complete lack of English and often with menus that were only in Lao with no prices. The restaurant has an interesting display of bombs and other war relics that seemed to have greater context than some locations. Well worth a visit.

Our guide took us here as he knows the people and says it’s the best food in town. Nothing wrong with food but a fairly predictable menu…after a week in Laos. Well enough prepared meal but the food for our group of 5 came out almost individually so hardly a group dining experience. Feeling pretty neutral… can’t help feeling that, if this is the best, there must be some pretty ropey places in town

we were able to walk from our hotel. the setting was very relaxed, the owner friendly and inclusive, the food wonderful. its out of town on a quiet street, which meant you could really feel comfortable, like you were a local not so much of a tourist. having said that most of the customers were tourists. still an experience I won't forget! actually this whole area of laos I'm unlikely to forget. well worth the difficult access but do your self a favour, stay for a few days at least

How is this place not number 1? A truly family run establishment and the food was divine. Truly freshly made to order and the decor was all sublime with cluster munitions and bomblets on show. I can’t recommend this place enough in Laos.

The owner of this restaurant is an absolutely brilliant guide to show you around the area and has the utmost knowledge of the area. Great food as a bonus at his restaurant.

Called into here, keeping in mind that Phonsevanh is a bit off the beaten trail so was surprised to be served a meal like this. My partner was extremely satisfied with her Lao dish. All in all, a great meal, and if ever come back to this region in Laos, I'll be heading here.

From the write up of the restaurant I was expection a much wider range of food (even for a vegetarian) but there was only one dish that I could order, stir fried vegetables (cabbage) and noodles. Disappointing.

After a long busride, stopped in Bombie's and ordered the fried chicken with basil and rice. Had good flavor and we were served a good sized portion. All the lights were off so we had to stick our head in the door to see if they were serving dinner.

I've eaten there a few times. Really just average (at best). Food is "marginal" (at best), service was poor during ALL my visits. It is in a great location and has good outside seating. I recommend "Cranky T Cafe" right across the street. Also, Bombie's is overpriced for what you get. Cranky T Cafe more expensive (as I remember), but, at least you'll get great service, a friendly owner, great food and a choice of dozens and dozens of cocktails.

We stumbled on this place as it was next door to the Hillside Residence where we were staying. When we entered, we were greeted by the owner and his friends, singing karoake. They were very friendly and welcoming, and immediately quieted down just for our sakes. The decor was fascinating -- because the walls were lined with casings and various UXO bombs/ordnance. These were recovered by the owner and his father, who had been directly involved with the NGOs clearing the countryside of this hazard. Speaking with him was very informative about the challenges faced because of the bombing campaign in Laos. He showed us a fascinating documentary on the secret war on Laos. He was planning the next day to go with the NGOs to clear some more ordnance. The food was good and plentiful. Fruit shakes were good too. We would definitely recommend coming to this restaurant not just for the food, but for the overall experience.

The restaurant is also the office for Sousath Travel. It is owned by Tourguide Mr. Rasa and his wife. The local food here is fantastic and delicious and cooked by his wife. You can get perfect informations about any tours in this area. From secret Jar Sites Spots to remote interesting warsite locations. They know everything! Make sure that your Guide is Mr. Rasa because his knowledge about the whole area is outstanding! The tours are more expensive than in other Travel Agent but they offer you remarkable trips to less visited areas!
