One would expect good, fresh sushi when visiting Hawaii, but Sensei Sushi ans Seafood (located on the 3rd floor of the Waikiki Marriott- next to DK Steakhouse) is a jewel in the crown of this seafood paradise!
We ate here twice in the course of...a week, believing the first (outstanding) visit the night we arrived was just a remarkable coincidence, alignment of the moon and stars, or some higher benefactor ensuring our first night meal on the island was memorable. We were tired (3 hour time difference) and hungry after a 6-hour flight and hour-long wait/ride to the hotel. It was late, but Sansei Sushi was open, so we stopped in for a quite bite.
The greeter was welcoming and the service was great. We informed we just wanted something light, our waitress recommended the 69 Roll, to which we added an order of edamame. The roll was fabulous... fresh, tasty, flavorful and just the right touch of glaze and sauce.
Because the first experience was such a delight, we decided to try again for dinner a few nights later. NOTE: Make a reservation!!! This place is POPULAR! (Guess you can't hide a great restaraunt for long.)
We showed up for dinner around 5- without a reservation. The receptionist informed us they were booked solid, but gladly put us on a waiting list and said we would be sent a text when a table came open. 30 minutes later we were seated at the bar and receiving phenomenal service (ask for Jade)!!!!
We had endless refills of passion fruit tea, the caprese salad, the spicy tuna crunch roll, and - of course, the 69 roll (which is topped with the freshest Unagi we've ever had). We also tried the spicy sansei edamame...WOW!!!!
Everything was prepared to perfection and served with special attention to the the visual presentation. What an amazing meal and the service - outstanding!!!!!
If you happen to be in Honolulu's Waikiki area, you've already decided to treat yourself to an island adventure. Take the next step and experience an outstanding meal in a warm and welcoming setting where customer service is taken to heart! (And tell Jade we said Aloha!)More
