The beer was fine and the music enjoyable however I was short changed at the bar despite giving generous tips to the barman. This has really put a dampener on somewhere I hoped to enjoy while in New York

I have been to Marie's Crisis a few times before and it is always the first place I tell anyone visiting New York to head to for a slice of original NYC night life. It's gritty piano bar, enthused clientele and excellent drinks are a...More

I mean it...To walk downstairs into this old West Village bar is almost like walking into a time maschine. As a friend of mine told me who is an amicable regular, the room first opened in the 1850s as a prostitutes' den, became then a...More

This is a piano bar featuring musical hits where nearly every patron in the place sings along. There is some serious talent from some of these people! Truly a hole in the wall place that we would not have encountered unless a local told us...More

One of our friend's lived in NYC and he knew about this place. It is so much fun, and just a real experience. You must go!! By the way, it is a gay bar and we are straight but it made no difference.

I visited Marie's Crisis twice during my recent New York trip and cannot stop raving about what a fun little place it is! We got there fairly late the first night but joined the crowd next to the piano - the place is low key...More

Probably the most fun I've ever had in a dive bar. Full of happy people singing, often at the top of their lungs, Broadway show tunes. The piano player-whoever is on on any given night-seems to know tunes from every show ever to play for...More

This place is so much fun! The patrons are so talented and friendly. The piano players are entertaining, funny, amazingly talented. Everyone welcome....gays, straights, etc. The songs were so good, you almost feel that you should be paying someone LOL

Went after a show on Broadway on a Saturday night. 45 minute wait time outside, and very packed inside - be prepared. Very fun if you know Broadway tunes, so can sing along with the piano player and the crowd. We found the bar staff...More

All I can say is do not miss this - this is such good fun. Stand around the piano and sing your heart out. Super location.

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you
