Recommended by friends this is the kind of place you might otherwise easily walk past. In the heart of West Village you enter through a small door at street level, down into the basement. This is not a high end place! In fact it's quite...More

Visiting from Norway, found this bar through a random Google search, and decided to stop by. Best desicion ever!! If I had just one night in NYC, this is definitely where I would spend it. The pianoman plays every musical song you know, people are...More

Just a superbs nights entertainment - if you like songs from the shows you have to experience this - participation encouraged , can be crowded but atmosphere is wonderful and friendly -saw other comments about barman and am surprised - sure he wasn't ridiculously friendly...More

Great bar loved it, well apart from the rude barman. I know that its a big thing in NYC to give tips, but no way when the service is poor and the bar man rude. But the bar itself is a fab hidden little gem

I had no idea where I was being taken. What a surprise. Singalong with strangers, all enjoying themselves. Surely something to replicate at home in Melbourne. Also heard some theatre people singing along in the crowd with amazing gusto. A great place to bump into...More

Situated in the heart of the historic West Village, this pub is renowned in NYC for its cramped piano bar. I really avoid going here, too many people are crammed into too small a room, one flight below street level. It is also filled to...More

Tried to get in here a couple of years ago but was in the middle of Gay Pride so was too busy. So tried again this year with a group of friends, none of us are up to scratch with Musical Theatre tunes but it...More

The beer was fine and the music enjoyable however I was short changed at the bar despite giving generous tips to the barman. This has really put a dampener on somewhere I hoped to enjoy while in New York

I have been to Marie's Crisis a few times before and it is always the first place I tell anyone visiting New York to head to for a slice of original NYC night life. It's gritty piano bar, enthused clientele and excellent drinks are a...More

I mean it...To walk downstairs into this old West Village bar is almost like walking into a time maschine. As a friend of mine told me who is an amicable regular, the room first opened in the 1850s as a prostitutes' den, became then a...More

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you

Hmmm. I am unsure. I was there during the week after Christmas and right before New Year, not on the weekend. But I was told It definitely becomes more crowded on the weekends. Early in the night it is very quiet. We went... More
