Fantastic food, lovely waiters - great service. Lovely atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and the portion sizes were plentiful. We shared things like rice and naan and there was more than enough. So tasty! MIL even said it was the best Indian she’d ever had.

Pre-covid, my partner and I would visit this restaurant on a regular basis. The food, welcome and service being of a good standard. In fact, we never had any complaints, or gripes. On our last visit at the weekend. Standards across the board were noticeably...poorer, meaning this restaurant no longer has appeal. And what a shame that is. On entering the restaurant, we we asked to wait in the small lounge opposite the bar and after only a few minutes, were showed to a table. All good so far we thought. In fact the chap that came to welcome us at our table and offer us menus, was a nice, friendly chap. Then along came another waiter, who was the absolute opposite. He was surly throughout the night, grumpy, inpatient and had the air that he wanted to be elsewhere. Certainly not waiting on tables. Especially ours. Let's call him Mr Grumpy shall we?! Upon ordering it was made clear that my partner wanted a very mild dish, with zero heat. Mr Grumpy took the order and confirmed that would be the case. Eventually Mr Grumpy returned with our poppadoms and dips. I let the fact that he was pinning down the poppodams with his thumb to stop them coming off the plate and attempted to put a little light pressure on them, to break them up. Sadly, being soggy and inedible. This wasn't going to happen. The poppadoms were stale and had obviously been hanging around the kitchen for a while. Ignoring Mr Grumpy and getting the attention of the nice chap that had seated us. Apologies were made and a fresh batch were brought out. Whilst waiting for the mains to arrive, my Kingfisher beer was savoured, enjoyed and soon emptied. I'd looked forward to that beer for a long while during the Covid lockdown. Alas, trying to get Mr Grumpy, or anyone's attention to replenish the glass, was nigh impossible. It would have been quicker to have got up, headed to the bar and poured my own. Once the fresh poppadoms had been eaten, we waited for the mains to arrive and when they eventually did. Upon sampling what was meant to be a very mild curry, my partner straight away informed me, it was way too spicy. After attracting Mr Grumpy's attention away from his wandering around the room aimlessly. His apologies were accepted and a dish of yogurt was brought out, to help reduce the heat of the curry. Alas to no avail. My partner attempted to eat her dinner, but left the majority of it. On my plate, the Karai Gosht that I once loved here, was sadly made up of a lot of tough pieces of lamb and was quite salty. So overall, a disaster. To make it worse. At no point, did anyone ask if we were, or had enjoyed the meal. So...feeling very disgusted by the way we'd been treated. We got the bill, headed to the payment area at the bar and were met by a chap who at no point looked up from a cluster of receipts. No..."how was your food/service/experience tonight". He just wanted the money and that was all. The bill came to just over £40 and that's the last money this restaurant gets out of me. Thanks for reading my report - My tip is take your money to other restaurants that do offer quality food and service. And with a bit of luck, the management and Mr Grumpy, will get the message.More

On arriving very impressed with inside lovely decor. Family of 12 seated quickly and served immediately. 4 staff serving us nobody seemed to be waiting even though busy. Very helpful staff made me a curry not on menu. Portions could be a bit bigger as...prices were reasonable but not cheap. Sweet menu very good unusual for an Indian restaurant. Overall worth a visit .More

Usually good but disappointing today. Our experience of Aagrah to date has been good but today was very disappointing. The takeaway food was cold and the response when I rang up was disappointing

Been regularly for over 20 years. Ordered a delivery take away through just eat as the phone line constantly busy. We have ALWAYS received at least 2 complimentary poppadoms whether eating in or take away. Spent £55 and not received one. Husband phoned to question...this and was told tough! Well shame on you Aagrah our business will go elsewhere due to your attitude.More

We visited the restaurant last week on a Saturday night. We were quickly taken to are table, but never got asked for drinks or no menus. 10 minutes later we finally got are drinks and we were ready to order. We ordered the aagrah starter...for 2. If I can remember this comes out hot and sizzling. Not this time the prawns were chewy the chicken was dry not a good start. The two curry’s we ordered looked and tasted exactly the same. Even though on the menu the ingredients were totally different. And taste bang average to be honest. The naan bread was plain when we asked for extra garlic. The rice was bland and cold. I am very sad to write this because 2 year ago it was amazing it’s just gone so down hill. We will not be returning in any hurryMore

Wow! I live in Pontefract but i'm BEYOND happy to drive all the way to Doncaster just for a taste of Aaagrah. Whether it be takeaway or eat in, the food is always exceptional (and HOT). The Chicken Tikka Masala is a family favourite of...ours, I've NEVER tasted a better one in the UK (& I eat a lot of CTMs). The staff are very friendly and quick to serve you. It can get very busy so make sure you order in enough time. It may be slightly more expensive than the local indian takeaway but it's worth every penny. I cant wait to order my next Aagrah :)More

We are regular customers of 20+ years and have never experienced service like this. This was supposed to be an enjoyable night but the staff ruined our family treat. The artifice and pure ignorance appalled us.We had a promised 40% offer on food which was not included...on popadoms and puddings??When confronted, staff became very hostile and argumentative. We reluctantly payed and won’t be planning on returning again.More
