I've been a fan of this particular Papa Pete's since the 90s. It was, as far as I knew, the only location that still used the slate brick ovens to cook their pizzas (as the Oregon/Washington Pizza Parlor from the past, Pietros, did for many...many years), while all the other location use conveyor-style ovens, which 100% changes the flavor and cooks the pizza unevenly, burning it in some places while undercooking it in others. Sometimes myself and my family would drive hours to this location for a nostalgic taste of the pizza we loved. However, as all restaurants do eventually, profit concerns outweigh quality. Charging more and more every year (a large pizza for $35? Really?). The last straw was that they REMOVED the slate brick ovens in favor of the conveyor ones. It broke my heart to see them during our last (and perhaps last) visit. As expected, the taste and quality of the pizza we ordered was not worth the price. An utter shame. All they had to do was not change a thing, and everyone would have been happy. Alas, the world doesn't work that way. Sometimes it's for the better... this time, not.More

Per our wives' request, my friend & I went to Papa Pete's around 4:40 to peruse the menu & order a couple of pies. We were promptly greeted by a young lady behind the counter and asked if we would like to order. Picking up...a menu, I replied that I'd like to take a minute or two to look it over. When ready, John placed his order and I followed suit. Or at least tried to. When I ordered a large 1/2 combination and half grilled chicken, I was told that I could have only one sauce on it, red or white. I could choose either, but couldn't have red sauce on the combo and white on the chicken. WHA-A-A-A-T-T? How hard is it to spread both? About a half hour later, John's name was called & he picked up his pizza. When my name hadn't been called 10 minutes later, I approached the counter, asking one of the 14 teenagers staffing the place (seriously, I counted them). I was told that mine came out under cooked and had to be run through a second time. I reminded her of the fact that John had been holding his, with it cooling off, for 10 minutes and it would be cold by the time we got mine and we got them back to the wives, but she had no reply/solution. My name was called about 8 minutes later. Upon our arrival back at John's, his pizza was cold & mine was seriously over cooked, with the edges of the pepperoni burned and crispy. For what you get, the price is very high. Mine was a large, not giant, for almost $30.00. I don't feel this was a good value for my money. Unless absolutely necessary, I won't be back.More

Friendly staff, great food, great place to get together for family time. Advice to call ahead to order seems to work better that way.

Trying to phone in an order, I asked the manager what the pizza sizes are, she replied “Eight, twelve and sixteen slices”. I rephrased my question to ask, “What are the sizes, in inches in diameter of each of the pies”? To this she responded...that each one is hand made so all of them vary. She then repeated, “Eight, twelve and sixteen slices”. She apparently couldn’t grasp the concept that all other pizza parlors do. I then asked whether the slices are bigger on the larger pies than the smaller ones & she said no, that they were all the same size. I’ll take my business elsewhere.More

Traveling from Seattle to Portland, we wanted to stop at Mount St. Helen’s visitor Center and we were hungry. With few options at this exit, we chose pizza and crossed our fingers! Papa Pete’s was friendly and clean and the pizza was delicious! From the...crust to the toppings and the special cheese blend, we ate every bite! Even the fountain drinks were perfect! We ate every bite!More

I just got a pizza today like I do very often. I noticed they got rid of the Pizza oven and now have the new style where you put it in one side and it comes out the other. I have to say “why in...the world would you change something that is already perfect?”! It was super dry, ingredients on the combination were way less. (Lots of pepperoni though) hardly any cheese or sauce. Felt like I was eating dry crackers. I have no idea why they would change something that Castle Rock is known for. The pizza was a staple of our town. Did they switch owners? I’m am super disappointed but so guess I’ll lose a few pounds since I probably won’t eat there anymore. 😔😩😥More

Stopped here for a late afternoon lunch. Service was fast and the food was great. Nicely cooked pizza, fairly thin crust and crispy. Overall good food and great service.

Rolled in from out of town. Staff was friendly and courteous, parlor was clean and warm. I was a little disappointed on the limited selection of non- pizza items. My pizza was one of the best I have ever had. Great Job girls
