This very small restaurant, only 8 tables!, is the very best restaurant where we have ever eaten. The owners couple do everything together, take the order, cook in the open kitchen and serve it etc. The prices are of a normal level and everything is fresh and you can taste it! In between we got a small glass of unordered broccoli soup where the wife remarked that it did not notice that her husband cooked so slowly😂 Reservations are necessary but for everyone who visits Waren aan de Müritz food at Klabautermann is highly recommended. Five of us stopped there for dinner on our McPomm bike tour.
Located not far from the harbor promenade in Waren, the friendly waitress greeted us at the entrance door of the small, rustically charming restaurant. With 29 seats, it makes sense to reserve in advance.
After the comment that “the chef isn’t the fastest 😂”, we were greeted with a little greeting from the kitchen in the form of a broccoli soup (yummy), served in an espresso cup🤪. Yes, that’s a way to pass the waiting time! Add to that a well-chilled Lübzer Pils and our expectations rose and were fully met.
This was followed by a small salad plate served with the main courses, the various leaf salads finely seasoned with an olive oil and balsamic dressing. The radish slices contained in it were marinated in beetroot juice!
My rump steak (ordered medium) was cooked a little over the point, but can still be considered a successful attempt. Tender, full-bodied in taste, juice in the meat and not on the plate. The potato wedges served with it were crispy and a hit with the homemade mayonnaise.

We can only recommend this small restaurant. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. Beforehand, there was a small greeting from the kitchen, which was brought to our table personally by the chef. We simply felt at home in this pleasant atmosphere, very friendly service, which was rounded off by beautiful music.
So on our last evening we ate there again.
As the restaurant is not that big, I would always make a reservation by phone.

A super great place to eat. We reserved a table two days before, which I would definitely recommend. The food was great, everything is freshly prepared. As a greeting from the house there was a small soup with potato straw, everything tasted totally good. The staff ( boss ) is totally nice and courteous. It's a great restaurant.

Very small corner restaurant with a few tables outside. Reservation required. Very good food! Gratinated mozarella in bacon coat first with fresh salad was immediately inhaled by the family. We had two meats and two fish dishes, all to the point and cooked and served with passion. Friendly service, very attentive but a lot to do with counter, indoors and outdoors. Dogs welcome outside. Luckily we had made a reservation, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten a seat.
The service was super nice, friendly and attentive.
My mustard schnitzel was delicious, juicy and perfectly fried, the fried potatoes were also very good.
My wife's pikeperch fillet with spinach tagliatelle was also perfectly fried and super tasty. The mixed salad served with it was fresh and delicious.
As a small addition, there was a broccoli soup beforehand, which was also very tasty.

As part of our summer vacation, we ate at Klabautermann twice in the evening as a family (2 adults + a 6-year-old child).
Every meal included a starter, main course and dessert. The food was extremely tasty and prepared to perfection, both the fish and seafood dishes and the meat. A modern interpretation of regional cuisine.
The service was friendly and attentive, but the waiting time was quite long, as the service and kitchen are at full capacity. However, the waiting time is well compensated by the beautiful, modern ambience and the friendly service, and when the food arrives, the quality speaks for itself.

It was the first day of our vacation, so the day of arrival was on a Saturday.
As I always plan vacations, including this one, I reserved a table for that evening on August 7th. On August 8th, a good 6 weeks before my arrival, I received a reply confirming my reservation.
On the reservation date, we were told in the restaurant "No reservation available." The extremely unfriendly waiter was annoyed and not willing to check again. Top class. It was so good, fresh... every meal was a delight. The fried mozzarella wrapped in bacon was top-notch. The two-person team is the star of Waren. We're always happy to come back. The ice-cold wine, the freshly tapped beer combined with the boss's magical smile really delighted us.

Super nice, small restaurant. We made a reservation spontaneously over the phone. You do need to bring some time with you as the food is freshly prepared. In return, we received a little greeting from the kitchen and drinks were brought quickly. The food was a dream! We were able to reserve a table at short notice. We have been super friendly and served. The food was super delicious and the chef could see that he understands his craft. Small but very fine restaurant. We went there twice and it was delicious each time. Small but fine selection, homemade and lovingly prepared. The fish solyanka, pollock and Mecklenburg sour meat are particularly recommended. The service is great, even when it's full, there's no rush. You're happy to wait a bit for your food. We had a very pleasant evening here. Previous critique while has some validity does however seem overly harsh.
The restaurant is run by a couple and while service seems a little slow at times, it's not a disaster either.
Hostess/ Waitress was kind, friendly and made every effort to communicate in English. The food was really very good with a range of fish dishes and two meat choices for those not wanting fish. Vegetables freshly cooked and not over done. Nice accompaniments
