We waited 1.5 hours for a table, but that's ok. Service was so fast once we were seated. They were so busy!! We went on Black Friday. Delicious southern food and great prices!! The corn chowder was amazing.
Everything about this restaurant is excellent. There is a wait but it’s well worth it. The menu price includes soup, entree and dessert. The quality, taste, portions and service are all excellent. I wish we could have more of the soup but then when meals...arrived we were glad we didn’t fill up on the delicious soup. Meat loaf, ribs and chicken and dumplings were all wonderful. Desserts were to go since we were unable to finish our meals. Everything was just as delicious for lunch the next day.More
On Nov 10th I took my Mom to the Old Mill for lunch. We were seated in about 10 minutes. We placed our order and received our food almost immediately. We both began to try our meals. We both ordered the Country Fried Steak meal....Everything on the plate was COLD! Room Temperature at best. I don’t know how long this was sitting because it was obviously made well ahead of our being seated. Food sitting out has to be maintained at a certain temperature or it can go bad. We called the waitress and informed her that everything was cold, and that it wasn’t even the slightest bit warm. She took our plates away. About ten minutes later she brought us two more plates of food. These were hot but wether on purpose or not, the steaks were actually burnt! My Mom couldn’t eat hers and we weren’t sending the food back again. After we got our bill, I told the cashier of our bad experience. She said nothing except to tell us what we owed. No apology, no offer to cut the bill, and no offer for us to talk to a manager. She could have cared less. When we got home I actually wrote the Old Mill restaurant a letter explaining this on their Contact Us web page. I have waited a week but at this point I have not heard from them so I decided to get their attention with this review.More
This is just another average southern style restaurant. The service was very good, but the food was average. The atmosphere was very busy and chaotic. Having the kitchen windows right where customers are coming and going makes this place very chaotic. There's nothing special here,...so unless you have no other options, go somewhere else.More
Best Fried Chicken for miles around.
Friendliest staff ever.
Chocolate cake is to die for......but don't.....instead ask for more and enjoy.
The fine and friendly folk at Old Mill work very hard to please a whole lotta hungry folk who are hard to please.
That...ain't easy, but this crew does a spectacular job of pleasing pretty people prodigiously by purveying pleasingly perfect provisions that pleasantly please the piggish palate................whew!
This means YOU and this means ME.
We camped out for 6 days in the GSMNP and at night we dined at Old Mill.
Can't wait to do it again.
Thank you very much, fine-n-friendly folks at Old Mill, for doing what you do so well.

For awhile now I have admired from afar how nice the Old Mill's website, Facebook posts and emails appeared. The food they post always looks very nice. Our experience, and there were three of us was Cracker Barrel does a better job. Shrimp tasted like...they had been frozen and taken directly to the grill. Not much seasoning to them. Corn chowder was ok. The drop biscuits that I understood to be made out of pancake batter were not good. The butter that went with them was disgusting. Steak had no seasoning. Hushpuppies were awful. Banana pudding was not that great. It was a lot of food served. Too much for one person to eat. Alot went to complete waste. This meal was the worst meal we had the entire work trip. There were two other ladies traveling with me that had the same opinion.More
