Ate at the Redcastle Hotel, Salt kitchen pop-up. Managed to go twice on our breakaway. Gorgeous view from seating area, amazing seafood.

Delicious, locally caught and cooked on site with a wonderful view out across the Summer Isles. Book early!

A small but select eating establishment, that provided perfect home cooked fresh seafood ingredients. The food was reasonably priced and prepared to the highest standard. The staff were lovely. Book well in advance so as not to be disappointed. This is a small restaurant with...seating for about eighteen. It has no table license so if you fancy a tipple with your meal be sure to take a bottle!More

This is somewhere you dream of finding on holiday, - but rarely do, so we couldn't believe our luck that we found somewhere so perfect with such amazingly good seafood - so good that during our fortnight's stay nearby, we ate there at least half...a dozen times - and are already looking forward to next year's stay! Suzie is a skilled chef and very enterprising to have set this up in such a remote spot, - although it is always busy so booking is highly recommended. It is quite small but nearly every table has a breathtaking view over the Summer Isles - the view is constantly changing - superb sunsets - and is almost a distraction to the food! However the food would be brilliant anywhere. We have never seen such huge scallops or langoustines - and everything is so fresh and tasty. The lobster is also good and the seafood platter is unlike anything we have ever seen before - but be warned it is big so share it and make sure you're hungry!More

A repeat visit. Food still good but standards have slipped since last time. Our salmon & avocado burgers lacked finesse, our deserts were OK but nothing more. The bread is supermarket bread heated up. Taking in our own £2 bottle of non alcoholic soft drink...we saw £3.50 corkage had been added to our bill! (They don’t have a drinks licence). The explanation given to us was that their glasses are washed by hand. Really? £1.75 to wash a glass? We booked in person as it's almost impossible to book any other way because they just don't answer their phone or return messages. They messed up our booking by a week booking us in the following week but begrudgingly found us a table having kept us hanging about while they thumbed through checking their paper diary. Mistakes happen but it was definitely their mistake and no apology at all was forthcoming. The early enthusiasm has gone from this pop up and a certain arrogance and complacency seems to have crept in which is a great, great shame. The sublime sea views are a constant though, they don't change.More

Based on previous Trip Advisor reviews we booked to eat at Salt 3 times during our recent 8 day stay in the area. We were not disappointed. The menu changes every night depending on what has been caught that day. The three of us had...different things ranging from the seafood platter, smoked salmon, muscles and scallops which for me were the crowning glory. It was honestly the best seafood I have ever tasted. Simply cooked but the freshest and tastiest ever. Delightful staff, but do book as we saw people being turned away each night and BYOB. An added bonus is one of the best coastal views ever over the Summer Isles, and a very good chance of spotting a deer on the way home.More

Local friend recommended a visit to Salt. We were not disappointed. The welcome, the food and the views were wonderful. It specialises in fresh local seafood and fish. You need to book in advance and BYOB. It’s off the beaten track but worth the effort...of getting there. Parking available.More
