We have been to the Castle before about two years ago when we were told it did some of the best pies around. We were not dissapointed. This time around no surprise that we opted for beef and veg pie and chips. It arrived with...More

Visited one lunchtime. Friendly staff, good beer and had a fantastic home cooked lunch. Chicken Pie and Fish Pie. Would definitely recommend this lovely Pub.

We spent 4 days in the area and visited the Castle each night we were there, eating there on 3 occasions and we thought the food was very nice for pub grub, particularly the Lamb Casserole and the Steak and Ale pie. The service was...More

We visited Monday 10th September for the first time, and to be honest we were not too sure what to expect. I really must take issue with some of the other negative posts. The staff were friendly and very efficient. We were delighted by the...More

No complaints about the food but staff were elusive. Would we have liked a second drink? Yes, but we weren't asked. Would we have liked wine with our meal? Maybe, but we weren't asked. Would we have like dessert? Yes, but we weren't asked. Many...More

Main meal ok, JUST, staff were unhelpful, rude, waited 40 minutes for bill. Had a knickerbocker glory for desert, it had melted and like slop, made with tinned fruit. When I complained to staff and manager I was told, this is how we make it....More

Bar staff unfriendly & unhelpful, particularly the landlord or manager. Food was satisfactory, beer OK. Plenty of other pubs within 2/3 miles well worth a visit. This review is for the pub only, I have not been in the restaurant, and probably never will.

Would suggest that you do unless you arrive early as the pub is relatively small and it is the Bank Holiday weekend. Enjoy yourself whatever you decide.
