The cafe was packed on the day we were there, could have been due to the weather being so cold. The staff were under the pump, which meant having to wait. The chef actually brought our order to the table. The coffee was excellent. The...menu was limited due to what was available at different times of the day which I'm not a fan of.More
Third visit and again a delicious meal with exceptional service from Charlotte. Menu choices out did previous meals which were 4 star, todays 5 + stars. Thankyou for great service Charlotte.
Chef & staff excelled
Turned up for dinner -no reservation - with our dog and we could not have been welcomed more.
Food was delicious and would definitely go back so we can fit in tarte tatin - great, friendly service - thank you
After waiting to get a table, I was directed by a staff member who checked to see I had signed in. I asked for a table with a comfortable seat for my friend and was directed to a table which had used coffee cups on...it. After waiting for 10 minutes, myself and my friend were rudely told off for sitting there, for not signing in and sitting ourselves down. We had followed the cafes protocols however you don't go to a cafe to be told off. We decided to leave as there was no need to be treated so poorly. When we told the owner we were leaving, he said "Whatever..." Couldn't even be bothered to find out why. Went across the road and had a lovely brunch.More
Contrary to a lot of other TA reviews our experience was pleasant, the cafe was quite busy on the Saturday morning of our visit, staff were managing visitors well under COVID19 conditions ensuring visitors abided by the rules. We chose to sit out on the...side deck under the cover of the outdoor umbrella, our order was taken promptly and with a smile. We enjoyed our coffee and french vanilla slice.
The building which the cafe is housed was once the old Alstonville Post Office, the atmosphere in the village was lively and welcoming. There are several cafes in Alstonville try but I wouldn't rule out another visit to 86 on Main.More
The recent reviews commented negatively about customer service. It is not as bad as you read but improvements are necessary. Our waitress was pleasant and cheery and helpful. However leaning across the table to place coffees is a 101 lesson at hospitality school. A few...other minor improvements but given COVID-19 it obviously takes a while to get your mojo back.
Foodwise the place is impeccable and my omlette wS great as were the other 3 dishes including mince on toast. Pricese are very reasonable.More
Customer service non existent! We have been regular patrons of this establishment for many years and have supported this business through COVID -19 takeaways. When COVID regulators eased to support seating again we returned to the business no longer using loyalty cards with the owner...acting aggressively to the enquiry.
At that stage thought we would not return due to the bad behaviour by the owner.
Moving forward to day. Thought we would give them another go. So sorry we did.
Drink order was incorrect, when advised the waitress said ‘well I didn’t take your order’ she returned with the correct order and just about thew it on the table!
We made second round of coffees and it was like they were doing us a favour. Order arrived had to ask for sugar and spoon. Time management Suggestion - they deliver orders on tray with spoons and sugars and napkins handy.
After we had finished our coffee the waitress dropped a billfold on the table. Thought they had changed the process to finalise payment. Normally you pay as you leave. We placed a credit card in the opened billfold and continued talking. The owner came over and said ‘we need you to leave, we need your table’. I advised him we were waiting for the waitstaff to come and take the card to process payment. He said ‘you need to go to the counter’ I said ‘ thought you had changed the way you do things’. He said ‘ no that’s our way of getting you to leave’. OMG this was the most disgraceful behaviour I have ever encounters. This man should not be in the customer service industry. Things have been difficult for everyone this year, but there is no excuse or exception for rudeness. The owner took the billfold and we the proceeded to leave the cafe. I said that we would not be returning due to his attitude. To rub salt into the wound he charged the credit card twice.
Alstonville 86 on Main you need to to a course in customer service or get out of the industry.More
