Me and my fiance ate here on Monday evening. The atmosphere was lovely with a busy bar and bustling chatter amongst locals. The pub offers a great selection of board games which we took great advantage of! For starters o had the ham hock which...More

Found this place whilst staying in Malmesbury, we were initially attracted by it's quirky name and the fact it was dog friendly. We soon got into conversation with some of the regulars and had a very entertaining evening to accompany our excellent food. The staff...More

We travelled from Devon to meet with family for my wife's birthday celebration - The Smoking Dog knew this - and had booked a table for 5 people at 3.00pm for Sunday roast. Upon taking our table we were told there was no beef left...More

Thank you for your review of the Smoking Dog. I am sorry that your experience was not an enjoyable one. I have been on annual leave but after speaking to the staff members working on that day, it my understanding that you only booked a...More

Full of quirky character. Hard to get a seat but that’s a size problem, not the pubs fault. They have a dining area and it is for dining only, you cannot sit there just to drink. Still a great place though.

Beer was fine, but the flat ironed chicken with truffle-polenta fries was just awful. The accompanying raw slaw, which was mainly raw white onion with a few herbs didn’t help what was a dire meal.More

The Smoking Dog is certainly hot stuff, judging by our experience of a lunchtime visit. It's a proper pub with well-nurtured Butcombe beer and helpful, cheery staff, ready and willing to serve it. But the best was yet to come. We chose a light lunch...More

Came here last year and the service was appalling. I have since heard from the new manager telling to come back and see how it’s changed. So here I am - as we speak - sitting in the lovely garden having a G & T...More

My husband and I recently went for a quick Sunday lunch... It's wasn't quick! We had the best nut roast I've ever tasted, and all the trimmings were spot on. We stayed for dessert which was just as good as ended up drinking in the...More

Couldn't have chosen a better place, the staff are excellent, the food incredible, they don't have vegan on the menu but the chefs prepared an amazing vegan meal for me and my friends. They have vegan specials coming at Christmas. Will always go back.

This bar/restaurant is great of a drink but for food it's a bit shabby. But the staff are nice and the place is dog friendly.
