The menu here is always fabulous, in terms of delivering on taste, quality and innovation, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal last night and thank all the very hard working staff who made it so enjoyable. We especially liked the portion sizes which gave sufficient quantity...to really enjoy the flavours without leaving you too full to look forward to the next course. Whatever you choose on the menu, I feel sure you will not be disappointed. The wines by the glass, were excellent and certainly enough choice to pair with your menu choices, the sommelier was on hand to help if needed. After this very strange period of our lives, to be hit with full restaurants is something of a challenge for them, I am sure, but service was first class and the manager and a young sous chef had some time later on to chat to us, which was appreciated. Good luck and buckle down for a busy season.More

Fantastic anniversary dinner, with the food and staff (particularly the wonderfully entertaining maitre d) making it one of my favourite restaurant experiences in years. Nothing comes cheap, but the standard of cooking is exceptional and worth every penny. I'm rarely effusive in praise for places...but this deserved it.More

The food (quality, presentation, taste) certainly exceeded our expectations. In fact, it was on-par with some fine dining experiences in London and beyond. The Isle of Wight tomatoes course or the deserts were truly out of this world! The service level was, regretfully, not as...impressive: we were overlooked at the terrace (for our aperitif), the spacing between the courses was not consistent, the staff was not very attentive, the amuse bouche was presented as ‘a snack’ and one of the waiters commented ‘it taste better than it sounds’, etc etc. But this could have been well due to the new staff at the end of the long lockdown. Exception: the professional sommelier (although he seemed a bit nervous as well). Note: the wine list is excellent! But at the end the food made up for the small flaws, hence the highest rating!More

Visited on the last day before 2nd lock down as a treat. We weren't disappointed. Elegant establishment in the heart of Beaulieu village. Car park tucked around the back with a little walk to the hotel. It was sunny so no issue. Advantage was that...the Terrace restaurant looks out over handsome mature gardens, rather than a sea of cars. Initial contact didn't go so well as no knowledge of our booking. Retrieved the booking confirmation from the car and and a table was miraculously found. Dining room is elegant and spacious (even more spacious with Covid) Menu is reasonable for a fine dining establishment; £25 for 2 courses or £30 for 3. The standard of cookery is excellent - lots of TLC and imagination. The portions were on the small side but packed a flavour punch and were there to be savoured rather than woofed down. They asked if we had any food tolerances and I said Gluten. So without any fuss, I was offered gluten free bread while my wife had regular - both were tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive. So overall a very pleasant dining experience and we hope to visit again when the Gov restrictions allow.More

My husband and I dined at The Terrace restaurant for our wedding anniversary. All courses chosen were fantastic and I believe Matt Whitfield is well on his way to regaining their Michelin star. Staff members were all very friendly too which created a warm atmosphere....From memory, I had the partridge to start and sea bass for main. My husband had the artichoke to start and the hogget for main. All dishes were executed well. We shared the “chocolate” with Jerusalem artichoke for dessert. Sounded an unusual mix but it works! I should also add that I have coeliac disease and they were able to accommodate my gluten free requirements with ease; I was able to choose pretty much any of the dishes from the menu except one dessert. The only small disappointment of the evening was that our anniversary was not recognised at all. My husband had mentioned at the time of booking and normally a restaurant, particular a more high end establishment, would acknowledge it in some way or perhaps decorate the dessert plate with “Happy Anniversary” or similar. However, there was nothing. That aside we had a lovely meal so I shouldn’t dwell on that small detail. I would certainly recommend anyone pay them a visit as the food is very good but perhaps add a follow up reminder if you want a special occasion recognised. Overall, a really enjoyable experience though and we will be back!More

Originally booked for my birthday, but cancelled owing to Covid and then rebooked for a much later date. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. By chance I had eaten in another fine dining restaurant a few weeks before, which I felt was better,...hence the 4 stars. My partner thought this meal was better, but it's my review. 4.5 would be fair, and I would definitely eat there againMore

Went to garden for lunch. Was told table service so waited. 40 minutes. We were ignored. Waiters asking if other people were ok and settling bills with card machines. Waiter even stood chatting for over 10 minutes 2 tables away and didn’t even look at...me and my husband. We left and went across the road for tea and sandwich. Very disappointingMore
