Clean, spacious, friendly and welcoming! We had a wonderful lunchtime visit, with the best fish and chips. We would happily make a return visit. Staff are friendly, and clean toilet facilities were available. The restaurant is easily found on the main road through Lyndhurst, with...a large carpark nearby for both short and long stay visits.More
Great chippy - you can order your food ahead of time online and pick it up so its very efficient getting your food. The fish is cooked per order so what you get is fresh and delicious - no sad, dried out meals here! I...highly recommend!More
Live locally and have tried all the other outlets in our opinion Bertie's is the best in the area, really easy to order online and pick up times are in 10 minute slots meaning fish is freshly cooked. It is quite expensive but don't mind...paying for quality and service.More
Four of us dropped in for takeaway lunch. Frying oil was fresh and everything nice and clean. Chips were very good, perfectly cooked and very tasty. Saveloy and battered sausage good. Scampi was proper wholetail and very good quality. Cod fillet was a decent size,...batter was ok although not crispy right through. The cod was lacking in flavour and a bit watery tasting. Not a patch on my local chippy. Overall very good apart from my cod.More
My mum hadnt had fish and chips since Jan 2020. This was her first takeaway. She almost inhaled her lunch. She LOVED it.
I laugh when people write reviews saying greasy. It's a fish and chip shop for goodness sake. It's all deep fried!
Well...dear Bearties. You made my mums day . If I have any criticism it would be to say please skin your fish. But that's not tradition, that's a preference, so thank you for making my mums YEAR.
Keep up the good workMore
On a coach tour of Southern England, we had time for lunch in Lyndhurst, the capital of the New Forest. The Tour Manager mentioned Berties, so the majority of us headed there for a light lunch, only to be sadly disappointed by the lack of...service first and foremost, and then the food, which we found greasy. Chips were tasteless, fish batter was overtly thick. Because of this, we certainly couldn't recommend this fish and chip shop.More
Extortionate in Price, portions very small
We ordered small and large cod with chips which came to £18.75,
There was no difference in size on the pieces of cod despite paying for a large and small. There were very few chips.
All in all an...expensive meal for very little in return.
The establishment has clearly changed hands from previous visits
Will not returnMore
