Lovely quintessential English tea room It felt like stepping into someone's home! Relaxed cosy and so welcoming The decor and background music added to the ambience The staff were so friendly and attentive Excellent food and service and very good value for money The little shop selling gifts was an added bonus! I will definitely be making a return visit and recommending this lovely find to others!

I rang to book a table as other reviewers recommended, glad to find car parks right outside, went in and were greeted and given a lovely table and menus. When I rang I forgot to mention that I've got some allergies, so when I asked what was available for me to be able to eat safely it took the lady serving me quite a while to find anything but I was so grateful, that even when they were very busy they did spend a lot of time checking ingredients. If you do have any allergies I would recommend that when you ring to book, you let them know first! I had a lovely home made scone with jam and cream, hubby had two and we really enjoyed how delicious they were. This is a quaintly British tea room, dogs are welcomed both inside and out in the garden - which is beautiful.

This tearooms has a perfect location as their front garden actually have the Pevensey Castle Walls as their border. It is a beautiful location to sit out on a sunny day. As it was a bank holiday I checked that the scones were freshly baked and was reassured that they were baked that morning. They were delicious and the service was excellent, they even called out my daughter's name as we were arriving as she had made the booking. Afterwards we took ourselves for a walk around the castle, which is free to do (you only pay to enter the inside of the castle). We will definitely be making a repeat visit.

Not good I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you are over the age of 90. All the good reviews are from people with dementia and the food is all soft or puréed because most of the customers don’t have teeth. It is the perfect place if you want to experience all the bad things about the 1920s - this tearoom gave me Great Depression! The toilets are even in the garden so I now understand why pensioners always complain about how hard their lives used to be. The sandwich was underwhelming and I feel like I have aged 20 years from the mental strain of eating it. If you have good enough eyesight to read this review, you are too young to go here!

Very friendly and prompt service even though it was a busy Sunday Morning. Nice big pot of tea with lovely delicate china cups And saucers. Warm scones with butter cream & jam were delicious. Dog friendly. Even the dogs (we had 2) were given a biscuit Would highly recommend

My partner and I have been wanting to stop by to this team room for quite some time after spotting it on our Sunday walk. Today, we stopped by and shared a Nanna’s high tea, which was absolutely delicious. The BLT was perfect, the fruit scone was still warm and the coffee and walnut cake was lovely. The portion size was ample along with the amount of cream and Jam for the scone - there wasn’t any scrimping here. The gentleman, which served us, was attention and made us feel really welcome; the food and drinks came out in perfect timing. The decor made me feel really nostalgic and I absolutely loved the tea cosy. High recommend for couples or families. We will definitely be visiting again.

The tea rooms is adjacent to the castle and well worth a visit. we sat on the veranda with our dog even though it is dog friendly inside. We ordered the 'Nana's afternoon tea' for £13.50 each. A choice of sandwiches ,scones and cake. I had smoked salmon and cream cheese, it was all delicious. Very welcoming staff and we were served very quickly and our dog was given a biscuit as well. Highly recommend.

Well where to begin, visited today for my Aunts Birthday and the staff couldn’t have been more Lovely. The experience today was all simply perfect. The tearoom is situated in the quirky castle walls of Pevensey Castle, the tearoom is a charming converted house with a beautiful outside space where we sat for 3 hours in the sunshine enjoying delicious food, coffee rounded of with cake. The tearoom is a mishmash of furniture and antiques with a small modern twist and very sweet shop which adds to the character and charm of this place. We did not feel rushed, so well-looked after, the kind ladies even sang Happy Birthday. Great value for money Good Location to have an explore of the castle grounds and beyond. Parking reasonable £2.50 for the day.

We visited yesterday and had a delicious lunch in a lovely setting which was great value . We each had a freshly made sandwich which was served with some crisps and a small amount of salad , choice of tea ( in a tea pot ) and scone with clotted cream & jam for a very reasonable price. Very COVID safe and we were served by very friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend .

A quiet lunch on the veranda today. Excellent service, the food was delicious as always. The sandwiches were fresh and packed full. The lemon and blueberry cake was outstanding, light sponge with a soft lemon buttercream, served with pot of tea and a welcoming smile.

A real old fashioned afternoon tea in a lovely setting at the foot of Pevensey Castle. It was like going back to the fifties with a lovely welcome from all staff and excellent waitress service. The food was delicious and I was even offered alternative soya or wheat milk as am allergic to cows milk. I cannot praise this lovely tea rooms and their staff enough.

We LOVE the Castle Cottage Tea Room and it's always a highlight of our visit to the area. The scones are the very best we've ever tasted (totally light and non-claggy!) and the cakes are amazing. We've also had light lunches in here too and they are great. The staff are always kind, friendly and helpful and the service is exceptional - very attentive and organised. The Tea Room is also very knowledgeable of the local area and they make an effort to help local charities. They are very good with families and even do a nice children's tea - my little goddaughter was delighted with hers and felt very special. As said in the title of the review, one of those places we like to go back to time after time!

Visited as a birthday treat and whilst the staff are lovely and the food is ok the service was slow given it was not overly busy, and allowing for the food to be prepared as the orders are placed. We ordered paninis which were nice but we were served in twos as the waitress advised they only have one panini machine which left two of us waiting for food. The biggest let down was the tearoom itself as it was quite scruffy even allowing for the “vintage “ feel and the gardens are terribly overgrown especially at the exit door and don’t look like they have been touched in months. A real shame that they have not invested in the property and grounds more as it’s a lovely spot and this really detracts from the overall experience and given this we would not go back.

I apologise for the wait between your food orders being served, this was down to a glitch in the kitchen and doesn't normally happen. As far as the grounds of the tearoom are concerned we are having trouble getting a regular gardener due to everyone currently having staffing issues and being over subscribed, however saying that the lawns are mowed fortnightly and the bushes and weeding were only cut and weeded four weeks ago....the current warm / wet weather is causing the plants to grow at a rate of knots.. The outside of the building is maintained by English Heritage, who own it, and most requests for maintenance are ignored which doesn't really leave us any scope to do much.

Our first visit yesterday, we were greeted by welcoming, friendly staff, who were very attentive. The tea itself was amazing, great value for money. Our party sampled “Nanna’s” high tea, the savoury tea and the afternoon tea. The scones were warm and fresh, the savoury scone option was a nice alternative, the sandwiches were delicious and the cake was wow! Will definitely be back again soon!
