We found this lovely pub by chance and booked for Sunday Lunch. The pub looked bright and welcoming, the interior was pretty without that false 'done up' look. Sunday lunch was superb - generous portions of freshly carved meat with a great choice of beef, pork, lamb or a mix. Food came with crunchy potatoes, roast parsnips, tasty gravy, yorkshire and a plate of cabbage and broccoli. The food was hot, well presented and yummy! Starters were also great with generous well cooked portions - the camembert with loads of ciabatta was lovely, the whitebait was the best ever and the brie was delightful. The lemon posset was very lemony - a great contrast to a heavy main course and the brioche bread pudding and ice cream was light and another tasty dessert. We can't wait to go back!

Drop in for lunch after seeing sign on Main Road. Really beautiful, traditional pub with a good choice of pub classics, fish dishes and some thing different. Sat in the garden overlooking the fields and views across the valley. Really friendly welcome and good service. Hubby had the Pork Belly which he said was delicious and served wit a proper home made gravy and delicious, freshly cooked Scampi for me. Good value, fresh food, beautifully presented. Not really local to us but would definitely make the trip for the great food and lovely ambience. Thank you.

Best roast dinner and meal out in a very long time! My husband and I visited for Sunday lunch. We rarely go out these days due to the high cost of living, but we were apart at Christmas and wanted to go somewhere special. It did not disappoint! I had the pork belly and my husband had the lamb. It was absolutely delicious 😋 The dessert - Gingerbread Affagato - was gorgeous too. Service, from the time we arrived to the moment we left, was very good. All the staff were attentive, friendly and with a smile. Great customer service which is not something we see much of these days. Thank you for a superb experience. We will be back.

We visit regularly for lunch with friends, including previous Christmases, and this was the first time that we left feeling a little disappointed. We enjoyed our visit but felt that the food let us down. Some of the portions weren’t as generous as usual and the non-meat eaters didn’t feel well catered for. A slice of bread with the salmon starter ( not to mention a prawn/ slice of avocado) and enough warm milk for all with the coffee are small ideas that would have made quite a difference to our perceptions.

Recommended this restaurant to our parents as had eaten here before and decided to go back for my birthday meal.
Booked for 7.30pm. Had to ask staff to take our food order at 8.10 as we had been forgotten . Had to ask about our food which came 8.55. Had to ask to be cleared and ask for dessert menus . It was then to late for us to eat so we left at 9.55 after eating only a main meal. The restaurant was half empty . Tables around us had been served much quicker and staff even went round and asked how their meal was. We then heard the staff at the bar talk about why we were not happy and basically said it’s because we did not order a starter .NO that is not the case at all. It’s because the service was appalling and communication by staff would of alleviated the situation. The food is amazing here but not worth really worth waiting for. I was embarrassed as with my parents . Won’t be returning.

We ordered three dishes from the pre starter menu - olives, bread with oil etc and anchovies. There were four of us but we were given three pieces of rather indifferent bread and three cocktail sticks for the olives. Neither small plates, cutlery or napkins were forthcoming. The main menu was rather too hearty for hot weather - battered fish and lots of winter style dishes - so we all opted for the starter of king prawns on bruschetta which was delicious as were the puddings. The service was unbelievably slow considering there were very few other diners. Overall it was a bit of a disappointing experience.

Wonderful lunch. We had four different main dishes with the Burger, Pork Belly, Macaroni cheese and Haloumi burger all superb. Lovely open fire, excellent service made for a great experience. Highly recommended.

After many years of having had really good meals at the Ash Tree, our meal was very disappointing.
The specials board was unimaginative; the smoked mackerel salad was just lettuce leaves with no dressing and new potatoes without any butter and the smoked mackerel had been grilled thus making it leathery - who grills smoke mackerel? The whole point is that it has been cured by the smoke!
The sausages were under cooked and the belly pork crackling was like leather rather than being crunchy and crispy.
The sweets were ok
After so many years of this having been a place to go to, it is sad to say its now off our list

Where do I start, well it’s definitely excellent value for money, the staff are amazing, warm and welcoming, the food is delicious, and there are some lovely views outside.
I asked for onion rings without realising they weren’t on the menu, the lady who served us said she would ask, when the food came out I was presented with a huge bowl of freshly made onion rings…..now that’s service!!!
This was actually our second visit to the pub, previously we had the most amazing mint lamb pie which was the special at the time. If you ever get the chance you MUST try it!!

I have eaten many times at the Ash and enjoyed some lovely meals. I went yesterday and whilst the service was great and the pub was busy, I was disappointed. The menu used to be a bit different but now it’s so ordinary . I had a confit duck leg which was ok but the spinach was gritty and the sauce was sticky and sweet but not great. The veg curry was boring and also ordinary.
The staff were the exception, lovely helpful and hard working.
I probably will not visit again.

We haven’t been here for probably a couple of years, simply due to the pandemic situation.
We returned today with friends for lunch & we were all very impressed with the standard of food, the service & the overall atmosphere of the pub.
The menu gives a good selection of food, maybe slightly fish dominant.
My husband had the mixed meat roast & says ‘it’s the best roast he’s EVER had in a pub! The portions were a good size & even down to the condiments which were plentiful (not tiny little packets) but individual pots of apple sauce, mint & horseradish & English mustard.
Well Done to all involved, we had a fab Sunday lunch!

It had been many years since I last visited but certainly I had relatives visiting regularly until covid.
Early Saturday evening and there was about 16 people in the pub including ourselves and all sat in the garden. No one inside and not a reserved sign in sight. One family of 4 ordered food and we were told there had been too many walk inside and they couldn't accommodate us. The table of 3 next to us were heard calling for Chinese! Not one table was seen with food. There was no notification of kitchen times on the premises or their Web info.
Most pubs with no visible reservations and only a handful of customers would be more than happy to accommodate. None of the staff appeared busy. If they were having staff or technical issues it would been better to be honest. Instead we were made to feel quite unwelcome.

We were given a very warm welcome. Our reserved table was next to the cozy open fire. We had a lovely 2 course lunch - plenty of choice from daily specials menu. I enjoyed fillet of sea bass and my husband said the lamb pie of the day was delicious. There was a plentiful supply of well cooked vegetables. Well kept ale accompanied the meal. Good value traditional meal without being pretentious. Views from the newly laid out garden to the rear were stunning - west facing so the sunsets must be amazing. Ample parking which is good as the local bus service only runs once a fortnight!

We saw the recent good reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to book for a lunchtime 'treat' to see if it was as good as it was made out to be..... and it WAS!
From the moment we walked through the door, we received a warm and cheerful welcome, and were provided with prompt and helpful service.
If you have a dog, this is certainly a very dog friendly pub/restaurant, and a Bonio biscuit came 'free'. Our pooch felt very much at home here, as did other extremely well behaved doggy patrons on the day.
Our lunch was VERY tasty, nicely presented, and good value. The Ash Tree Inn obviously has an extremely good and competent chef.
Despite all areas of the premises being busy and full, the atmosphere was one of quiet, serene and happy customers. It's so nice to find a good 'country' pub and restaurant that maintains the best of our great British tradition.
This was well worth the visit, and we will not hesitate to visit again.

Food was outstanding and service from all staff was friendly and efficient. The chef came to the table at the end of the evening and asked if everything was to our liking ( which it was ) will definitely be visiting again.
Dan and Nat I believe are the landlord and landlady who were also very friendly and accommodating.
