Stayed for a night at The Bulls Head campsite as a family of 4 with 8 & 9 year old boys. Pre-booked a table in the pub for dinner. Arrived half hour early for a pre-drink in the garden. Very nice space to enjoy a drink in the sunshine with tables very well spaced for current social distancing. Good choice of burgers and pies on the menu amongst other British pub classics. No kids menu but they are very accommodating for youngsters and make smaller portions of main menu dishes for the little ones at reduced prices. Can strongly recommend the bulls head pie, delicious. Staff were all first class, very friendly and attentive. I will certainly be coming back. The campsite itself was very clean and secluded, with well kept toilets, a single shower & a water tap. Some fire pits available too I believe, but we arrived later on in the afternoon so didn't get one ourselves. Its smallish site, so even though the facilities are not huge they are not overused and are kept in very good clean condition.

Visited here whilst staying locally, we booked by telephone after reading the reviews online. The pub is a traditional roadside inn with plenty of parking. I’d been drawn to the proper pies, advertised on the menu and my husband to the locally made sausages which we both duly ordered. The staff on duty were both friendly and attentive and our food order was taken after we’d received our first drinks. Both meals were well presented and the portion of pie on my plate was certainly proper both in terms of its generous portion size and being pastry both top and bottom. Everything was very neatly placed and somewhat worryingly all at the same high temperature, as if the plated meal although having items individually prepared had ben plated and then flashed through a microwave. The accompanying veg were for me under seasoned but well cooked. The mashed potato on my plate and that of my husband was a bit bland and his sausages, although tasty didn’t look like they’d seen a grill or a griddle pan. The gravy on both dishes looked to be identical. However having said all that my pie was delicious and the sausages very tasty. Would probably eat here again if in the area.

Had this gem recommended to me and I certainly did not regret it, the starters were first class I had the duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce that was pleased to say there was plenty of sauce and the rolls looked home made, my mate had the stuffed mushroom and said that was very nice too. For the main I had the chicken - ham - leek pie and the filling was stuffed to the top and certainly was not a small portion and looked home made and tasted as good as it looked, we’re as my mate had the fillet steak with all the trimmings and said that was very nice too. I highly recommend you try this pub out as I don’t think you will be disappointed for value and food quality.

We’re long time fans of the Bull’s Head and the food is always great, as it was today. *But* the service tonight was awful. We’d booked a table six weeks ago for our Mum’s birthday, and were assured we’d have a table outside with a heater. That didn’t materialise, even though we asked on arrival - we were simply told there were ‘none left.’ There were 2 waitresses serving and only about 6 tables in, but it took an age to order and ages and ages for our food to arrive. When we finally moved tables at the end of the meal to one that had been vacated with a heater, the service all but disappeared and we couldn’t order dessert even though we tried our best to attract someone’s attention. We pointed out it was mum’s birthday, more than once, and we’d hoped for better, and the waitress apologised but it was too late. So disappointed. The service here is usually good but it’s gone badly downhill. Four unhappy customers - not sure we will be coming back - such a shame as the food is fab. Overall = ☹️

I had booked lunch for 2 at 13:30 a few weeks previously. When I realised we'd be 10 minutes late, I called at 12:45 and told them this. I was told in reply that they were stopping serving food at 13:30 due to a wedding. I then asked if I could order a couple ploughmans now so it would be waiting at 13:40. I was simply told that they were stopping serving at 13:30. We arrived at 13:40, there were still people eating, food was being served and there was no reserved table available for us except a bench right by the main road. When I tried to complain, the waitress denied any knowledge of the booking. so we had a couple of beers and2 bags of crisps. To make it worse, the Amstel tasted awful, as if it was the first pint they'd poured for several days. I have no idea why CAMRA rate this place

We camped here for august bank holiday and leaving today. First off, it’s a lovely quiet campsite, basic amenities but enough - locks need to be changed on the toilet doors as that’s dodgy! But overall nice. Pitches on a Slope though. We booked to eat here months ago when booking the camp site, we was looking forward to eating here. However, we was put in the garden and pretty much forgotten about. No starters available so we said we will go straight onto mains. We had to go back indoors 25 minutes later to find out if we could order. Dinners were average. I had the fillet steak and peppercorn sauce - for £25 it was not good. The peppercorn sauce was inedible with so many peppercorns in it. The steak was not medium rare but we had been waiting over an hour so we was starving. Partner and daughter had cod and chips which was again average. My toddler had chicken and chips as a kids meal - for £8 it was a joke lol. Trying to get more sauces from the boy serving was a bit hard, kept having to ask if he heard me as he completely ignored me. Rude to be honest! We would have stayed for dessert but was annoyed by this point so paid the £100 bill and left. So camping “okay” but avoid if you want a decent meal with good service!

Went to this pub which was ment to had been a burns night celebration turned out to be the worst ever burns night I have ever been to. No menus on the table did not know what we were eating no-one explained what they are serving when they brought the soup out there was only a quarter of a bowl and as for the haggis which is the main part of burns night we were only served a desert spoonful of haggis, neeps (swede) & tattes (mashed potato). After waiting around 45 minutes they served up this other main meal which we had no clue as of what we were eating the meat was so tough & grissly with no flavour at all. We waited again and when the pudding arrived on the table we saw it was a sponge still no one said what flavour so I asked they explained it marmalade and orange my partner tried it and said he does not like it so he sent back, the waiter did not even offer anything else, but the table opposite to us had the option of having a different pudding. So in all I think this was disgraceful especially for its price.

We have had many lovely meals and quiet drinks at this pub in the 25 years we have been using it. We were one of the first to return after the first lockdown as we thought it was important to support our local pubs. The landlord said it was nice to see familiar faces again. But considering the amount of money spent over the years, that was the only time we've had a civil word from him. The rest of the staff are generally cheerful. The problem has been that when we ask if a table is free, time and time again we sit down to enjoy a drink and a reserved sign gets slapped on the table. Today was no exception. But the landlord assured us it wasn't needed until later. Within 5 minutes another member of staff came over and apologised that the table would be needed in 15 minutes this was after my partner had just sat down with a pint, coffee and bag of cheddars. I asked where we were supposed to sit and drink and eat it and the staff just shrugged. We asked why we had been served with the second round if they needed the table and they apologised and said we now had 30 minutes but unfortunately the drinks would no longer be enjoyed. Why would we spend hard earned money to have to rush. So every single table in that place was booked for 6.15 pm? We got up and asked for that round to be refunded off our bill and settled up. This happens time and time again. We often pop in well before the evening meals when the place is dead. In fact the bar staff told the one other customer when we arrived, how dead it had been all day. What did the landlord do all through this. He just stood there. We are the customers who regularly come in and fill your bar when it is quiet. Not anymore.

Just returned from a lovely meal here, the food is lovely & all the staff are friendly. I would definitely recommend booking as it’s only a small pub. I had the chicken, ham & leek pie whilst my husband had the highland chicken, we both enjoyed our meal, I had the treacle sponge and custard & my husband had the waffle for pudding, we will definitely return soon.

My wife and I stayed here camping for three nights,we had lunch in the pub once and had a few drinks while we we’re staying on site. The landlady and bar staff couldn’t do enough, from letting us pitch up our tent earlier (as it was quiet and check in) before paying,to recommending places to walk our dog and also telling us which pubs in the area have a good atmosphere for the football. The food in the pub is very nice and the drinks are a very reasonable price (£5 for a Morreti, you can’t go wrong) Also the camping site, has two showers which you don’t always see on camp sites. (Perfect set up) Great atmosphere, the beer and food shack is a great idea and we used this once. Again great food and very reasonably priced. So overall we throughly enjoyed our stay and the staff were very welcoming. We have already recommended this pub/camping site to friends and family and we will definitely be returning in the near future…(We can’t wait to return)

A huge thanks for Anna, Martin and the team at The Bulld Head for hosting our wedding reception on the 13th May. The landlords and staff did a fantastic job with food, music and generaly keeping everyone happy Including the Bride and Groom with their great service. They could not do enough for us. This is a great pub to come to for traditional pub atmosphere and to have a drink/ food in the great garden area.....thank you

We were a family group of four adults and three children and enjoyed the friendly service of Emma. We ate battered cod, wholetail scampi, kids burgers, 3 bean chilli, bull's head pie with various drinks. Service was quick and we had a nice table in the garden with shade. Total cost £114. Will come again

We lunched on a Saturday for a 90th birthday celebration. This was our first visit to the Bulls. As i was the person doing the booking i was a little apprehensive but that was soon dispensed with as i felt right at home after a warm staff welcome. There is a real open fire which was alight, brilliant! Service and food was wonderful, we were all very happy particularly my partner who cannot eat any forms of sugar or flour. It`s my impression that a lot of the food is made on premises and not just bought in frozen which i think is to be commended. Two of us had the steamed syrup pudding which is made on premises and oh, how enjoyable was that! Yummy. This venue deserves a lot more complimentary reviews than it currently has here on TP.

We are regular customers and have been frequenting it for about 20 years, long before the current owner. We often pop in for a few drinks late afternoon One particular day we were told we could have a table until 7.30 so we had a few drinks to begin with. At 6.45 one of the female staff informed us that unfortunately we would have to move as the people who had booked it were 45 minutes early. They were sat on another table and we basically swapped seats with them. Either a table is available or it isn't. Make your mind up. Going off this place. Not the first time we've been treated rudely. No respect for regulars.
