Lovely food lots of choice for Vegans - Just Ask

We went for a birthday meal 9 of us all Vegan and they adapted the main menu and were very knowledgable and helpful. The food is delicious and full of flavour. We had a variety of curries, rice, onion bhajies . sag aloo bombay potatoes, they even made a vegan raita to go with the popodoms and had vegan wine. Very helpful lovely staff and its so nicely decorated and clean and comfortable. Thank you

Best Indian food we’ve eaten!

Not joking! In our fifties and have eaten from 100’s of Indian restaurants. Not only is the food to die for but wonderful people too. We enjoyed a take out for two including a nicely hot chicken chilli masala and a chef’s special fish masala, both delicious! Price is very competitive so what’s not to like - highly recommended.

Ordered a large takeaway on sat night to collect on Sunday as soon as it was ready as we wanted it ASAP for a birthday meal in the garden on my sisters birthday. We got a call earlier than expected which was perfect, the meal was delicious, all courses were perfect and we had a fantastic evening. As always the Viv and his team provided us with hot tasty food, cannot wait to get back there for a sit down meal as soon as this is over. Thank you Viv

Try The New Additions To The Menu!

It has been a while since I last reviewed this consistently good restaurant and I feel compelled to write again after this evenings visit because since my last meal here there has been a few new additions to the menu. Tonight we tried the starter of calamari and also the crab cakes, they were both really delicious and I can’t wait to have another meal at The Royal so that I may try some more dishes that are quite new to me. During the past couple of years we have relied mostly on having our meals delivered from this restaurant and they have always been really good value and the service, as always, has been excellent.

Worst Takeaway Ever

Worst takeaway we have had. This restuarant is expensive but we have previously been happy to use it because the food is lovely quality. Tonight's takeaway couldn't have been more different. One of the curry sauce boxes came open in transit and half of the content spilled all over the other meals. The popadoms were very rubbery, as if they had either got damp or were just not fresh. The paper bag in which it all arrived was alread socked in curry sauce when we opened it and the handle ripped off as we carried it in to the kitchen. So disappointing considering the expensive prices this restaurant charges. I think we will go elsewhere next time.

We absolutely adore Royal Indian. As vegans living in Hailsham, it can be pretty difficult to find decent vegan food. These guys are always amazing and accommodating. The food is always perfect too! Definitely our favourite place to eat

Thank goodness for take aways!

A shining light in these dark times. We had a family takeaway last night and yet again the food did not disapoint.but last night's was truly exceptional! I had a chicken special and cud not only taste all the spices but also the butter in the chicken. Superb! The other dishes the family had were also perfect. Well done. Back soon.... Probably tomorrow! 😂😂😂❤️❤️

Our new favourite!

Well, this was just delicious! I am writing this review pretty much instantly after finishing our meal as we was pleasantly surprised! This was our first time trying The Royal Indian, it’s a Saturday evening and the Royal Jubilee, so we fancied treating ourselves to a take away! I had heard good reviews about this Indian restaurant, so we thought we would give it a go, for a takeaway. We ordered online, which was easy to navigate. You have the option of cash or card, which was fab, and they delivered to our town, even better! It was delivered within the time frame they said, it was piping hot and it was absolutely delicious. So glad we tried here, and will definitely be ordering again! Think this will be our new go to for an Indian takeaway! (P.S Cheers for the Cobra ☺️)

Excellent as always

A busy Saturday night with small and large groups. Served in good time, good selection of drinks. Starters were excellent I had the vegetable samosa and an onion Bhaji split with my mum. Both were good sizes, tasted lovely, presented well. For mains I had the vegetable Dhansak made vegan. Just the right amount of heat, full of flavour. Wasn’t overly oily, had with plain rice to get the most out of the curry, service staff were able to talk me through my best options so I could get the most out of the meal. Staff were happy to accommodate our requests, never had to ask for extra drinks, attentive but not disruptive. For so much going on and such a busy kitchen everything was superb. Left feeling satiated but not like I needed to go sleep it off. 10/10 would recommend.

Absolute gem of a restaurant

We used to travel 10 miles each way to use The Royal at Hailsham. The owner used to double wrap the food to keep it hot on route!. We now live closer and visit even more frequently. The menu is excellent for two reasons. Firstly, there's something for everyone with a selection of the most popular dishes. I've tried most of them and they are bang on the money in terms of taste and portion size. Secondly, the specials menu is absolutely amazing. If your'e adventurous, ask the staff what they recommend from here. They are very knowledgeable. If the owner is around, grab him and ask. He is clearly very passionate about his food and the authenticity of it and I think this shines through the entire experience at the restaurant. Being able to ask and get such a knowledgable response means you can push your boundaries and try something new without stepping completely into the unknown. Strongly recommend the fish curries.. chicken and mint (yes, it works amazingly well!).. I have something different every time I visit and have never had a poor dish.

Takeaway Banquet

We approached Royal Indian, on the basis of good reviews, to supply takeaway to a family House party for 22 Adults. Vincent was very helpful. He advised on menu and on amount of food. Delivery was on time, food was fresh and hot. Amount was perfect and quality of food excellent. And the discount for quantity very welcome! Thank you Vincent, very happy to recommend the Royal Indian. John

The best indian food ever!

The Royal Indian serves absolutely delicious food. With a wide range of vegetarian, vegan and meaty options they not only have consistently good food and service in house, but they also have the best takeway ever! It is never a disappointment. The restaurant itself is always impeccably clean and beautifully decorated, there is always a lovely atmosphere. I have been a regular customer at The Royal Indian for years, ordering once every week and it just keeps getting better. I can not sing this restaurant enough praises. it's bloody marvelous.

Consistently excellent

For the past seven years since we came to live in Hailsham we have tried all the Indian restaurants in the town and beyond but not one has come close to the consistent high standards of food at the Royal. Not only the food is excellent but the service - immaculate linen napkins and table cloths - ambience and staff in our view are as good as you will find anywhere. Since lockdown we have had regular home deliveries, we had one tonight, and the usual high standard is not sacrificed in any way. I wholly support Stonebroker's review and can't add much more. Keep up the high standards and we will support you even in hellish times.

Family meal

We love this restaurant and all the staff especially the the main men top chef and Vivian the owner and manager is a cracking guy. We came a week ago me and my partner and her son from Hove and mum an dad we always have fantastic food but for the first time we were given a lovely free starter off Vivian for five of us and all salad it was amazing. The chicken tikka melted in the mouth and the best samosas I’ve ever had plus the onion bharjees were fantastic as always. We always came here at least twice a month but it’s difficult getting all of us to come as we live in Hove near Brighton. Plus the last couple of years have been difficult for us as it would be for most people but I will say that this is the best Indian restaurant in Sussex as far as I’m concerned and I would recommend any curry lover to come here wereever you live. I will be back here as soon as possible.

As a vegetarian was pleased that any dishes on the menu could be adapted,food was freshly cooked to perfection. Starter of dips was a lovely appetiser. Staff so helpful and friendly. The restaurant has an good atmosphere with the room divided by glass partitions giving a feeling of privacy. It is clean and fresh looking with modern decor. Added bonus they do cocktails👏👏
