We really loved Rustico in Hailsham. Food was very delicious and at a great price: pizza is BUONISSIMA and authentic, like the "melanzane alla parmigiana" (A MUST!) The service was great, and staff was very friendly, especially Ellie who went above and beyond her duties to make us feel welcome. We'll be back for sure

I took my 4 and 2yr old grandchildren for a treat. They were able to make their own pizzas, The dough was brought to them on a tray they made it to the size they wanted then put tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni on it before watching it go in the oven. They were absolutely thrilled to make it and then eat it in a restaurant. The staff were brilliant very friendly and competent and went out of their way to make it a fun experience Will definitely be taking my other 2 grandchildren to enjoy the experience

The chap in the kitchen is a genius. The pizza here is the best I’ve ever encountered in the U.K., with high quality ingredients - my Napolitana had stems on the caper berries, for example - and the staff are always agreeable, including Alex who served on my latest visit. Their house wine is ok too; I usually have Montepulciano. Well worth a visit.

I am ONLY writing this review as after the slow, service I received last week, the waitress Charlotte (?) pestered me into writing a review, presumably unaware of how un-enjoyable my service truly was. Food was okay, fries were forgotten but the situation was quickly rectified , pizza was nice in flavour but came out cold and my wife was unhappy with her pizza as was burnt on sides. Asked for mayo, it never came. No music , just kitchen clattering. All in all, not a terrible establishment , great if you’re on a budget and want something mildly better than a mcdonald’s but otherwise, it’s no location to long for.

Visited for the first time on Friday 11th November, I was with a group of 13, we rang up and booked earlier in the week, on Friday evening I rang again to make sure they still had the reservation, we sat down at 8pm, food didn't arrive until nearly 9.30pm, 5 cold lasagne, 1 undercooked pizza and 1 burned pizza, we sent all back and the chef proceeded to bang and clatter around the kitchen as if he couldn't be bothered to reheat the food or remake it because it was wrong. The waitress who came to take payments was very sharp with us all as we wanted to pay separately and said we should have told her we wanted to pay separately before ordering our meals. She then tried to charge us a ÂŁ21 tip which she didn't get! Was super polite to us but only after we had payed the total which was over ÂŁ200! I will not be returning here again which is a shame because the place its self was lovely, just a shame about the attitudes of the staff letting the whole place down.

Went into the restaurant in Hailsham last night (Friday 15th July 2022) and asked for a table. The lady who spoke to me who I assumed was the manager told me politely to grab anywhere as the restaurant was half empty. I sat at a small table next to another small table that sat another single gentleman. I had been down in Hailsham on a business trip. It was early evening and I hadn’t eaten all day due to a long day of meetings. So needed to eat as I was driving back to London. For the first five minutes neither the manager or the other five members of staff bothered to come over to even offer me a menu. The manager then after the five mins joined the gentleman at the table next to me as he was a local businessman having a lengthy conversation. As she got up she literally looked at me as I tried to catch her eye and ignored me. A couple then walked in who were shown to a table opposite me. They were both within a couple of mins given menus and drinks and had a lovely conversation with the staff. I know I could have said something but why should I? I waited another 10 mins and finally one of the waitresses asked if was ok? I said no not really as I hadn’t even had a look at the menu yet. She did apologise and brought a menu over and then her and the other members of staff ignored me for a further 10 mins. The couple who had arrived 5 mins after me had their starters and drinks on the table as I walked out. Absolutely blown away. Maybe it was because I was a single middle aged man or maybe it was because my face just didn’t fit. I was still a paying customer. Whatever the reasons I sure as hell won’t accept the restaurant was busy as the couple that came in after me were tucking into their flipping starters as I walked out the door.

I took my kids for an early dinner after school. Our server, Keri, was so good with the children and we were offered a 'make your own' pizza experience. They loved adding their own toppings before it was cooked. While we waited we were given some activities to do. Very friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Would definitely recommend.

Having read the very mixed reviews on this site I thought that I would take a chance and give this restaurant a try before forming my own opinion. I certainly was not disappointed, the staff were very attentive during my visit and I really enjoyed the veggie pizza. An earlier review mentioned wine arriving in water glasses, mine arrived in one too but I was asked if I would prefer a wine glass, so they are available for those who want them. I enjoyed my first visit so much that I took my daughter and son-law-law yesterday, for a second visit. They too enjoyed the meal. The calzone was huge and the pastas were just the right size. Our waiter was Dale and he was helpful on our arrival and very efficient.

Visited late afternoon for a light meal. 2 lovely pizzas, skinny fries, and wine /beer to accompany. Have visited before, and the pizzas are large, with plenty of ingredients , freshly cooked and so delicious. Good thick crusts at the edges. The fries were really good too, a light sprinkle with salt to taste, hot & fresh.

We’ve been a few times and the food and service has always been really lovely but we went his evening where by they had forgotten to put our pizzas in so 3 pizzas and a pasta dish took over an hour. Then when trying to order more drinks the waitress rushed of before completing the order so brought water and another drink, then we had to order more drinks. Once the food was brought to the table the waiter rushed of before we could ask for him to take the empty glasses and cans. We then had to put our empty glasses, tins and rubbish on the floor due to lack of space. My husband had to go up to the til to ask for cheese for my sons pasta dish and pepper for the his pizza. When we complained they apologised but we then later heard staff in the kitchen laughing that we had complained because we’d waited an hour. When paying the bill the waitress said the machine was unable to give me receipt but when I insisted she then walked of and managed to get me one. For a £75 meal the service was disgusting. We would have had desserts and more drinks but after hearing staff laugh about our complaints and the bad service received we left pretty promptly. We would not recommend at all.

The food is 3rd rate. We will never eat there again. And on the way home my wife has been really ill. The lasagne I had was worse than a value range from the supermarket, and my wife's pizza was uncooked in the centre, and the rest was cold. Worse place we have ever eaten

My wife, two daughters (10 and 7) and I ate at Hailsham Rustico early evening on a Wednesday. My eldest said it had "good vibes and good mood" and she wasn't wrong. A chilled out casual, welcoming interior which was immediately family friendly but also would be suitable for a date night. We were pointed towards a selection of games after our orders were taken which delighted my daughters and made waiting time fly past. The food was very well priced and excellent with plenty of choice. However the best thing about the meal was without doubt the waitress Ellie who was friendly, charming, welcoming, helpful, the perfect amount of chatty/familiar and excellent with adults and children alike. We all really liked her. Thanks to all at Hailsham Rustico and especially Ellie!

Although this very new branch of Rustico was pretty well empty on a wet Thursday evening I can only imagine how great it would be on a weekend with a buzzy atmosphere as this place is just so Italian & rustic as their name. Our pizza's were just incredible.. I had the Regina which was with a cherry tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto.. the base was just perfect & all oozing with deliciousness . I am sure Ill be back soon for another.

Arrived to a lovely warm welcome from Keri, she was very helpful. My Mum is Gluten intolerant and it’s always a treat to find a menu that caters well for her. I had a vegetarian pizza the balance of flavours and the dough are excellent. I can truly say it was the best pizza I’ve ever had. All the staff took pride in the restaurant and it had a lovely vide. Highly recommend a visit to RUSTICO HAILSHAM.

Popped in for a beer as we had the dog with us and no one else in the area is dog friendly. We ended up ordering some bar snacks, a side and then ended up taking a pizza home! The staff were so hospitable and friendly, especially Evie who made us feel so welcome. It is good value for money, a lovely environment and the food was delicious!
