My husband I took a chance and stopped for dinner at Stonehedge Restaurant in West Park, NY (between Kingston and Highland on Rt. 9W). It was so deilicious! Phil had the Seafood Provencal ($24) Shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in a saffron infused vegetable lobster stock. I enjoyed their Seafood. Crepe ($23) Shrimp, scallops, and mushrooms in a cream, wine and chive sauce. Wrapped in a french pancake. Both meals were awesome, as was the special soup of the day, viccysoise! If you live nearby, treat yourself to a special meal at Stonehedge which has been there for over forty years. The inside of the restaurant is dated and not fancy and the acoustics aren’t good, but the food was truly marvelous! 🙂

I live in Seattle, but visit the Hudson Valley in Fall and Spring. THIS is always my go-to restaurant. Excellent in all respects: food, cocktails--specifically the Champagne Chicken following a few Manhattans, perfectly stirred. Salad, bread, dessert, service, all in best of show! --Ted Roumelis

Had been a while since I had been to Stonehedge, but it has quickly become one of my favorites in the Hudson Valley. The selection is varied and therefore you don't have to settle for a dish you can eat. Had the balsamic chicken last time and it was delicious. Service is great as well. Highly recommend.

After driving by many times and reading reviews, we decided to give a try. We had high expectations after reading most reviews…..we’ll….the atmosphere is rather stark…no tablecloths, gray walls, somewhat institutional in feeling, or, rather, very utilitarian.. the food was, uh, bland, to be kind…it looked ok, but, not much flavor at all. Reminded me of the dinners my mother got at her assisted living home. The wine selection was not very good, and, the glasses were small. What a disappointment! From the outside, we expected a classy place, with good food, but, neither one materialized.

While visiting the Headless Horseman Halloween exhibit we had dinner here. We were pleasantly surprised with the generous portions and the well cooked choices we made. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly and a Tremendous portion! Every choice was delicious and we were amazed at the reasonable prices. Definite destination if you’re in the area!

Horrible service. Waitress disappeared often. Handed "check" consisting of handwritten random numbers on a torn piece of paper and told sorry we don't have a computer. Automatic 20% gratuity added for excuses, lack of service and mediocre food. I would not recommend. I have received better service at McDonald's.

Old fashioned, nostalgic dining experience. Friendly, welcoming staff. Bright, yet homey atmosphere. Reminded me of going to Salvucci's as a child, which was nice. The menu offers many choices, including family favorites like fried zucchini. I had a breaded veal & eggplant parmesan, which was delicious. Can't wait to try several other menu choices. Very relaxing, unrushed dining experience.

Attended a wedding reception here. Everything was set up nicely. The appetizers were all very good and hot. The servers were very friendly explaining what was in each tray. The main course was delicious. The tables were served promptly with no waiting. Rolls were plentiful, the salad was just right. Serving of the cake and champagne was professional. We all had a very nice time from start to finish. Thank you.

We were there early on Thurs. Evening. There were only a few tables occupied. We were seated immediately by the bartender, but it was easily 15 minutes before our waitress came and took our drink orders and another 15 minutes before she took the food order. She seemed to be the only server there. The bartender helped out occasionally, but service was still slow. The baked clams were not good, the mussels marinara for the most part were good, but a few were tough and leathery. I have never had that experience before. The clams in garlic and butter sauce were very good. The main courses were not bad but the portions were not very large. The only large portion was the cheesecake for dessert, which was quite good. The price seemed fairly moderate, but when considering the size of the portions, it was not really much of a bargain. There were not too many places to eat on that stretch of the road, so not too many options. I might try it again if in the area, but overall the experience was only average at best.

I really wanted to like the restaurant but it was disappointing. First, we walked in without a reservation and they seemed to take a few minutes to figure out where to sit us even though there were a few empty seats. They finally sat us right next to the women’s bathroom. I am a pretty positive guy so I told my wife, “Look on the bright side, if have to “go”, you don’t have to go too far..”;) Anyway, the bread and my salad were good although my wife’s salad seemed to be just lettuce Our dishes weren’t very good and my wife couldn’t finish hers My wife was also bothered by something else: one of the waitresses “wore” a long (thick) pepper shaker in the back of her pants ...it seemed bizarre. My wife was a little horrified It was just a strange experience- considering I had a phenomenal meal had a French restaurant restaurant in Kingston the night before, there are other good restaurants in the area

I was reminded recently of a horrible experience that my family had at this restaurant some time ago. It was a Birthday dinner and as my children were choosing what they wanted my son said “I should order the frogs legs.” While he was joking, the wait person heard that rather than his order. When our meals came my son was presented with an order of frogs legs, which he would not eat. I told the waiter there was a mistake and my son wanted whatever other dish he had requested. The restaurant would not rectify the situation. This ruined what was supposed to be a special occasion. but it was ruined by the restaurant’s failure to make things right. We obviously never returned to this place.

we go here often - the food is good, the service is excellent and the prices are right. We often go with friends and everyone always is ready to go back when we dine out together.

Thank you for a great ‘early’ dinner this evening! It was our first time and we’ll definitely be back; especially since we pass by every single day on our way from work to home. Each course was fresh and tasty. The crusty, hot rolls. The GIANT shrimp in the cocktail were perfectly cooked. The specialty cocktails were on point and the service was efficient, friendly, knowledgable. We thought your pricing and portions were very fair too. Looking forward to trying other menu items; specifically the Steak Au Poivre, one of my personal favorites. PS: We had the Prime Rib and Zuppa De Clams tonight. It was a nice size piece of bone-on rib with a good crusty edge all around. Yum. The Zuppa was delicious with just the right amount of everything in the bowl. And dare I say that we were gluttonous and even took desserts home! Michelle & Dave

My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day at this restaurant and enjoyed this dining experience. The entire staff was friendly and our waitress was superb. We started out with cocktails which were mixed to perfection. My appetizer was the Escargot A la Bourguignonne 10.95 Imported French snails, baked in their shells in a garlic butter sauce. and my wife had the Baked Stuffed Clams 6.95 Highly seasoned chopped ocean clams. Classic family recipe. The main course for my wife was Veal Marsala 17.95 Sauteed with mushrooms and Marsala wine. I opted for the Seafood Platter 17.95 Broiled or fried flounder, scallops & shrimp with a baked stuffed clam. Each entree came with a salad (choice of dressing), choice of potato (baked or fries), rice pilaf and a vegetable. The meals were cooked to perfection, ambience of restaurant was good. We definitely will go back to Stonehedge.
