This place is really great and a must visit! Yesterday evening we had a delicious pasta in a cosy corner in the green garden. Very friendly waiters (Gilles etc). Nice atmosphere, next to Lux GB. Thanks a lot and keep up the good vibes🙌. With...love from 2 Belgian guestsMore

On our last night in Mauritius, we stumbled upon what turned out to be the culinary highlight of our trip. After hearing some local recommendations, we decided to try Le Poivrier, and it was a decision we didn’t regret! Reservation: Make sure to book at...least two days in advance, as this place is really popular, and for good reason. Atmosphere: The ambiance of Le Poivrier is relaxed, with mostly outdoor seating with garden vibes. It sets the perfect stage for a memorable dining experience. Service: The team at Le Poivrier is exceptional. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations and ensured our evening was perfect. Thank you Sean for the best service and great to meet Olivier and son. Food: The seafood here is simply the best we’ve ever had. We tried the lobster and shrimp, and each was prepared to perfection with fresh ingredients and exquisite flavors. Final Thoughts: This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Mauritius. It’s a perfect place to experience the island’s fresh seafood and warm hospitality. We only wish we had discovered it sooner!More

A busy place. The staff although slightly hard to get their attention were excellent. The food was the best we had during our stay on the island. The garden atmosphere and one of the best Long Islands around made for a great meal.

When staying at the neighbouring LUX* Grand Baie resort, the Poivrier is the place to go to if you want to escape the LUX’ stratospheric drinks prices. A simple example: a bottle of a well-known Champagne will cost you 6,000 MUR (about the price in...a restaurant in Western Europe), at the resort next door it will come for a ridiculous 14,000 MUR. We went there on three occasions and enjoyed the food very much. Just be aware that the servings are generous, so unless you are starving, it is a good idea to share a starter or even a main dish. Service was flawless and friendly! Booking recommended, as the place is popular with tourists and locals alike.More

Well i did maybe 10 restaurants in Grand baie in 11days, this one is to avoid. Too expensive, business oriented and they don’t care about the customers and they even don t serve the rum at the end. I will not come back.

A disappointing visit yesterday. Normally I have nothing but praise for Le Povrier but on this occasion they let the ball drop. My companions ordered grilled Capitaine which came dry and overcooked - the table adjacent clearly had the same experience. I ordered Tuna Tartare...but instead was served with Tuna Carpaccio which although nice enough was not really what I wanted. Sadly we were on limited time so we didn’t return the food but the management seriously needs to up its game if it is going to protect its reputation. We will return, of course, in the hope that this was an isolated occasion.More

Absolutely awful experience.....we arrived early and they firstly could not find our booking as they wrote the incorrect name down.. when we asked to sit and wait as we had taken a taxi they said the staff were on a break and no we could...not! The owner then abruptly told us that he could sell the table over again....wow...what an awful host...he preceeded to tell us never to come back again ...! As if we would support such a rude arrogant awful person....we live in Mauritius and eat out often and mostly have the most amazing experiences with great food and wonderful kind hosts! This owner is clearly all about money and selling the table..More

I was appalled by this restaurant and the owners following my visit on the 12th August. My partner planned to propose to me at gbaie given that We had our first date there. He arranged for us to have dinner, the proposal, flowers, champagne ect....However, we got there at 10pm due to unforeseen circumstances and the owners were made aware of the delay. When we arrived, I had no idea my partner was going to propose on this night and on arrival we got turned away as the kitchen had closed yet there were plenty of ppl dinning. We got turned away and my partner was absolutely distraught. Thankyou for ruining a memorable night. For this reason I'll never support such a place.More

This is the place Lux Grand Baie doesn‘t want you to know/go 😉. Situated a mere stone throw from one of Mauritius hottest hotels, you will fined a refined and beautiful setting. A bespoke garden creating for each guest the illusion of being the sole...diner, while being social enough to ensure you don’t feel abandoned. Service is attentive, friendly and never intrusive. We went twice as a family realizing the first time one better reserves a table ahead, alas the gods smiled on us and created space via a sudden cancellation. As observed elsewhere the menu comes in the form of a chalkboard, a personal touch much appreciated. You will find your usual drinks (cocktails were very good though not outstanding) as well as some sushi options (recommended!) separately. All meals we enjoyed were tasteful, nicely presented and always surprised to the positive. A special shout out to the risotti, or as our two year old commented: very yummy! No real differentiation between starters and mains, so better to share and leave room for dessert. Recommended, worth a detour.More

Set in a beautiful garden with a lot of space so your table feels very private. Menu isn’t extensive and all food was freshly prepared. Service was ok. Apple crumble to die for! Typical Mauritius prices
