We, 3 lady pensioners, arrived at the restaurant fairly late around 15:15, after a drive through the Postberg area of the Coast National Park, to view the spectacular flowers of the season. We were very courteously welcomed and seated in the outdoor area of the restaurant, ordered our refreshments (a pot of tea and 2 milkshakes), then proceeded to look at the menu to order a late lunch/snack. Sadly the menu does not have very much of a choice/variation, and was rather pricey!! However not having eaten anything substantial all day, we ordered a toasted BLT sandwich and 2 chicken wraps all were served with chips. Despite the food being pricey, it was most enjoyable and very tasty. We were served by a delightful young waitress named Sophy, she was extremely courteous and friendly and needs to be highly commended for her excellence service. A pleasant and relaxing hour at the Geelbek Restaurant and lovely surroundings.

Positive: It was a sunny day and we preferred to sit outside where seating arrangements were far apart from each other. Negative: 1) We wanted a glass of white wine which they first poured into plastic glasses! We were told that they do not have enough waiters? We insisted, where after wine was poured into proper glasses after promises that we will return the glasses. 2) For a simple Hake and Chips (no extra trimmings) they charge R175.00. I have yet to pay this much anywhere else! I presume that they can do as they wish since there is no other restaurant/competition! Well they have lost my custom forever!

With the busy and exceptional flower season in full swing, the restaurant was very busy. They should be prepared for this. The poir waiters were run off their feet trying to serve drinks, food, take payments and deal with irritated customers waiting long time for even just a cup of coffee. We ordered one glass of wine, one cooldrink and 2 fish and chips. The drinks took forever to arrive, then another 20 minutes passed and my wife’s food arrived - cold. About 5 minutes later my food arrived. Poor organisation and poor management.

you got it right to notice that the restaurant was very busy, what you forgot is the covid rules and regulations that resulted that we had to keep kitchen staff to the min. due to social distancing. poor comment.

No light meals available... The only toasted sandwich was a BLT (strange choice for their only option and NOT enjoyed by my husband) at R110. The Fish and chips was mediocre and overpriced. Our other overseas visitor tried the bobotie.. at about twice the price I had one lunchtime the next day, and nowhere near as good. I tried their top of the menu Venison Potjie at R200. This came with salad and pumpkin pie, and with no starch which was surprising. The venison was Eland. The top half of the pot was dry and hard, and only the bottom half was moist and tender. The meat was very scrappy, with lots of odd bones, and many pieces inedible. For a restaurant which has a monopoly at a prestige location it was grubby, overpriced and very unsatisfactory.

Simple advice....AVOID! Restaurant has no focus: dishes vary from pasta to curry to fish and chips and nothing is good Bad and slow service; we waited for over an hour for our food. Several other tables were also complaining. Food was bland and tasteless Tables and chairs are worn and old Overpriced A v o i d at all costs

After spending the morning until lunch time enjoying the West Coast National Park, we were staving when reaching this place for my wifes birthday lunch. We ordered a Bobotie and a Cape Malay Curry. Each priced at R 180 so we expected a decent meal. What be got was almost inedible. The bobotie mince smelt like pets mince and the pumpkin slice with it was like rubber. The rice was obviously yesterday's. The chicken curry was so bland i had to add salt, black pepper and sweet chilly sauce to stomach it. I ate the chicken out of pure hunger but my wife couldn't stomach anything. One mouthful and she was done. We voiced our complaint to the waiter, Collins, whom gave a half hearted apology... No chef or manager came to the table to ask or discuss our issue. The bill came with full pricing and as we were just desperate to get out to real food paid the bill and left. It was a terrible experience and blame not the staff or cooks but the lack of management that allow such shocking food at that price to leave the kitchen. At least the birds enjoyed it as the attached pictures will show

As the only place to eat in West Coast National Park we inevitably stopped here for lunch. There's an extensive menu but we went for a lunch special of a 'gourmet' boerwors roll and a drink. We waited ages for our drinks to come, with a customer who arrived after we had ordered, recieving his drink first. The gourmet boerwors when it did come was cooked well but the sauces on top were a bit much and meant that I only ate the sausage and a little of the roll. When we got the bill we'd been charged for our soft drinks which were meant to be part of the deal. Unimpressed wth that! Service was average and slow. The setting is pleasant, in a Cape Dutch style house and it could be superb, it just needs a bit of TLC.

I cannot recommend Geelbek restuarant enough as a food destination (we have eaten there almost every time we come to West Coast National Park) but even more as a potential function venue. We had the idea for my wife's memorial on the lawn near the restuarant in the park she loved so much, the owner Rassie made a fantastic effort to make this dream come possible. Not only did he decorate the lawn area making it private, cover the chairs and tables in linen, made a juice and fruit table available with all the crockery needed he did it during the September the busiest time for the Park with the annual spring blooming. Suffice to say he did all this with a full restuarant also going I am most gratefull to him, the staff and the excellent operation they are running at Geelbek. Well done and thank you everyone.

Not sure why there was no service (had to order at the bar) and plastic cutlery and plastic cups and take away containers... Perhaps Covid regulations ? (Although all other restaurants around the west coast served their patrons and used proper cutlery & crockery). My gripe was the cost of the food... Fish & Chips at R175, Calamari & Chips also R175 and Chicken burger & Chips over R150. The bottle of wine was less than the Fish & Chips! We were a group of 6 adults and paid R1258 which was 6 meals, 4 small beers (in plastic cups) and a bottle of white wine. Totally over priced for a place that has almost no service and plastic crockery & cutlery.

After spending a lovely morning in the West Coast National Park, we stopped in for lunch on a mid weekday. We were disappointed by the way a lovely historic buildings have been spoilt by hodgepodge additions and layout. The menu appeared overpriced, however, as we were hungry we ordered a small bite and drinks. The food and the service were very good, but as expected the food was overpriced. We saved our appetites for a reasonably priced lunch at the Cape Town Fish Market in Langebaan. This proved to be a wise decision. We will pack a picnic or braai for our next visit to the park.

I treated my wife to a day at her happy place (West Coast Park) for her birthday, and this included lunch at Geelbek Restaurant Being vegan we didn't know if they'd have anything on the menu that wouldsuit our requirements. I called and spoke to Rassie who asked me to watsapp any requests, which I duly did. When we arrived at lunch time, we were made to feel most welcome - like honoured guests. Rassie recommended we be seated in a quiet spot in the garden where we enjoyed a most delicious vegan meal while watching the flamingos in the lagoon, and surrounded by the sounds of francolins. We received star treatment and top class service. Thank you to the Geelbek Restaurant for helping us create happy memories!

After a morning of bird watching, on an extremely hot day, we (five in our party) ventured over to the Geelbek Restaurant for a light lunch. Our waiter, pleasant and efficient, attended to us immediately and our much-needed iced drinks were delivered to us within record time. A second round of drinks came just as quickly. We ordered standard fare- hamburgers and pizza/buns, which were fine. I must admit I was a bit taken aback at the price of a hamburger (R140.00) -this is considerably more expensive than a hamburger anywhere in Cape Town City. The ambience is rustic, plain, with no frills. We sat outside near the trees and noisy weavers, and all in all found it very relaxing and pleasant.

We were disappointed to find that this has become a take out restaurant with food served in cardboard boxes. The menu had changed since our previous visit and is now limited to 'fast' food. We were looking forward to some fresh fish but this wasn't on the menu. We chose the calamari and chips which were large servings but over-priced at R175. Some of the calamari was under-cooked. However service was prompt and friendly.

Lovely location in a restored house. Initial impression from the menu was not hopeful but the snoek balls and the burger on egg plant were delicious and perfect for lunch. The staff were very pleasant as was eating outside. Despite the wind the there were lots of flamingos visible in the lagoon from the hive.

2x Chicken Salads, 2x Chicken wraps, so to be fair we didn't have a extensive meal. Both were perfectly okay, but ordinary. The surroundings are great but the restaurant itself needs a lot of upgrading and refurbishment. Welcome on arrival non existent. If your expectations are low, then this is fine.
