Family dinner Tuesday

We ordered the pasta special offered as part of their “Family Dinner Tuesday” takeout. It was a sun-dried tomato penne alla vodka. It was delicious! The whole experience of their takeout due to Covid19 ran better than we expected. The food was brought out to the car at the time we indicated. There was so much food! The salad was huge. Plenty of dressing. The amount of pasta was enough for a family of 8! The baguette was warm. All was beautifully packaged up and the price was right at $27. I strongly recommend their takeout. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Annual Friends Lunch

A group of 12 friends have been going here for 20 years for our annual lunch (as well as many times on our own throughout the year). The food and wine are ALWAYS exceptional and the owners and staff are the most professional, kind and pleasant people to be around. You truly feel like part of the family when you eat there. At the height of the pandemic they stayed open and adapted their procedures to safely serve the community when it was very hard to find a place to get meals to go in safe way without sacrificing quality.

My Favorite is the Mediterranean Salad

Cosimos has a lot to offer. Wood fired pizza, pasta meals, fish entrees, and many more selections. All said, my favorite is the Mediterranean Salad, a great mix of Bibb lettuce, roasted red peppers,olives,feta cheese with an awesome dressing. I ordered it with grilled chicken. Our group of four all enjoyed our dinner (as always), grilled eggplant panini, salmon, and pasta meals besides my salad. Dinner here is always very fresh and tasty and relaxing. We recommend this location.

Busy Night

We had never been to Cosimo's but had heard good things. It was a busy Saturday night and I'm glad we made reservations, The wait was 35+ minutes. Three of us arrived early and we had to wait 10 minutes for the other 3. The wait staff asked us twice if we really had anyone else coming and had we texted them to make sure. The food was good and worth the price but they really rushed us out the door, asking several times if we were done. I realize they were busy but we all thought the staff was rude. For that reason we will not be returning.

Perhaps renovations are affecting service :-(

Was in there yesterday and it was over 30 mins before dessert came out?? I'm not sure what happened, but the service went off the cliff towards the end of our meal. Chicken Francaise was very disappointing, very hard and tasted old. I had to cut into very small pieces to get it down. You can't throw Francaise sauce all over an old piece of chicken and think it will be okay. Not with this foodie plus I'm a great cook and I know fresh food vs. old. My husband loved his Pasta Fra Diavolo, so at least we had one happy customer. Will try it again once renovations are complete, perhaps this affected the service and the food.

Skip Newburgh and go to the Pok location

The Poughkeepsie Cosimos is usually Very Good to Excellent but we weren’t happy with Newburgh. We got the half pizza/salad lunch option. In Pok you can get half of any pizza that u want but in Newburgh u can only get Margarita. Plus the Cesar salad was swimming in dressing making it almost inedible. Won’t go back to the Newburgh location!

ordered eggplant parm it was 30% eggplant 70% pasta. also ordered garlic bread it was burata something or other but was approximately 7 inches long very little taste and 15 dollars. cosimos has turned into a joke!!!!!

Great place for lunch with family

We ate here on a pre-Thanksgiving Saturday. We were meeting a family member for lunch. We hadn’t seen each other in a while, so when we were first seated we were chatting away and hadn’t even looked at the menu. Our waiter (Billy?) was so patient. He kindly checked in on us a few times until we got our act together and ordered. Our food was delicious. My daughter loved her Caesar salad, but she felt that she would’ve ordered her pizza well done next time. I had a delicious tomato, mozzarella, arugula sandwich with a balsamic glaze and fries. Both were delicious and portions were so big I brought half home. My husband must’ve liked his chicken, because it was gone in a flash. The decor was really nice. The nicest part was that by the time we finished lunch, it wasn’t too busy. They nicely let us stay and chat without rushing us out of our table. We would absolutely return!

Only one Disappointment

We have been visiting Cosimo’s in Newburgh, Middletown and Central Valley for years (originally the Newburgh site). My visits have been both with family and for business, with co-workers and business acquaintances. I have always enjoyed the variety on the menu and my favorite became the Mediterranean salad. Unfortunately this, and several other favorites are no longer on the menu. In fact, the menu is much trimmed down from years past. This was also observed by a business friend who has also gone there for years. Don’t get me wrong, this latest dinner was wonderful, all four of our family had a great time. I am, however, disappointed that the owners have decided to make the overall enjoyment options so much less.

Great lunch stop

Our party of seven stopped for lunch at Cosimo’s in Newburgh. We arrived at noon on Monday July 4th, and were seated right away. Our entrees included a Harvest Salad, a Salad Pizza, a Caesar Salad, Pizza, Grilled Chicken Sandwiches and Linguine with White Clam Sauce. All the food was very tasty and the portions were large. Our server was attentive and efficient. Overall, it was a great lunch break during a long drive.

Dissapointed Of Late

We have come to Cosimo’s both at this Newburgh location and in Wallkill (Middletown) for many years. We also stopped occasionally at the Central Valley (Woodbury) location. For years I enjoyed business lunches here, and personal dinners at night with my wife, with family and with friends. Cosimo’s changed over the last half dozen years both in the available menu, as well as other areas of restaurant excellence. We visited recently in Newburgh during October with friends. We all had the drinks and the soup special. For an app, we had the fried calamari. Dinner entrees included the Margherita pie, spaghetti with white clam sauce, side meatballs, and braised short ribs. Some carrot cake and sorbet for dessert with coffees. Everyone agreed it was good, but not special. In my opinion, they are no longer one of my favorite spots, now just an OK spot. I am disappointed that several of my favorites are no longer on the shortened and changed menu. It may be a result of the COVID impacts, who knows, but I dont feel it is any longer a very special place, just an average quality restaurant.

A Restaurant Worthy of a Special Trip!

In planning our trip to Sarasota Springs for my Grandson’s graduation from Skidmore, we chose a route that would take us to Newburgh so we could eat again at Cosimo’s (as we had a year earlier). This is one of our all time favorite restaurants. Excellent menu with well-prepared and unique dishes plus stone oven pizza. Everyone from staff to nearby table guests were friendly. I am looking for an excuse to return to this area again so we can enjoy Cosimo’s again,

Lunch With Family

My huaband and my son both had pizza & salad combos, I had the Panfried Tomato Fresca on a grilled Baguette (sandwich) and a small salad. All were very good. Salads were huge portions and next time I would not order one - or the sandwich and salad could be shared by two people I think. This is a solid lunch (or dinner) option.

Superior Staff Member

We've visited here several times in the past. In general we prefer their Poughkeepsie location. On this day we stopped by for a quick lunch and ordered a lunch pizza and drinks. Both were fine. The reason for the 5 stars is that our server was excellent. She was the type of friendly, efficient and knowledgeable employee who anticipates needs and remembers everyone. If I had not lost my receipt I'd name her but I'll certainly post again if I find it. It was a pleasure being there.

Will not Return

Ordered Calamari Appetizer. Looked like they were trying to empty kitchen. Portion was very large had very few calamari rings but lots of legs and very dry. The seafood Fra diavolo was also very large and also looked like a kitchen emptier. Everything was tasteless and really uneatable. Will avoid this place in Future.
