The Heron is a first rate restaurant by the Delaware River with Chiefs Paul and Marla doing all the cooking which is inventive and delicious. It is located in the river town of Narrowburg which has some of the best views including eagles and bears....A must to eat at with the added pleasure of a view.More

Although small the menu had some interesting entrees. I went with the 6oz tenderloin which was lightly salted and delicious but I though $30 a little steep. The truffle fries were nice also.

We come over every now and then from our weekend home in Hawley. Generally, I prefer the warmer months because you can sit on the lovely back deck. Their bloody mary, pancakes, and hash are all excellent!

We were not disappointed. This is a nice place to eat. I had the blackened fish and my husband had a steak. Excellent. Quirky decor. Good service.

The Heron restaurant had been on my 'bucket list' places to eat and I finally made the trip up to Narrowsburg for the night to eat here and explore the town. What a nice experience! The chef owner is a fellow Alumnus of the CIA...and I could tell his training in the quality and service of this restaurant. Everything was top notch and the view of the river when dining outside is just spectacular. The views are breathtaking in the summer! The food was excellent! I started with a side salad, which was all fresh greens in a light vinaigrette with fresh crunchy local vegetables. The side portion was smaller than the appetizer portion and that was more than enough. The appetizer portion is much larger. Still the greens were fresh and crisp and not overwhelmed by the dressing. I had the Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. The Fried Chicken was organic and you can tell the difference in the flavor of poultry when it is raised this way. The outside of the chicken was coated in fresh breadcrumbs and fried to perfection. The mashed potatoes were creamy and loaded with butter with a mushroom gravy on the side. The chicken was so crisp and the meat so moist it was one of the best fried chicken's I have eaten in ages. The side of mac & cheese that I ordered with it was the perfect size and must have had three different cheeses in it. It was rich and sharp and really gooey. It was so good. For dessert, I had the Grapefruit Sorbet which was the perfect light item to have after a big meal. It had a nice puckery taste to it. The view of the Delaware is breathtaking and be sure if the weather is nice to ask for a table on the terrace with a view of the river. I could not believe the beautiful sunset and the gorgeous stars that I saw in the sky. You could almost touch them. The service was very laid back and friendly. The staff is mostly local artists and they do a nice job making everyone feel welcome. At no time did I feel rushed and the meal was perfectly timed. It lived up to its reputation and I really enjoyed the food. I can't wait to go back and try it for lunch. If I were to run a restaurant, this is the type I would run.More

Delicious food, pleasant staff, good vibes. Loved the signature dessert; the mild saltiness and crunchy bits.

Consistently delicious food in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere - cozy dining room or covered patio high above the Delaware River. Popular place, so reserve ahead if you can. Nice range of menu options - all fresh and local with extra touches. Dinner and brunch are...both great. And this summer's homemade blueberry banana cashew milk and coconut cream vegan ice cream is outstanding!More

We usually sit outside when the weather is nice but inside the Cafe is quite comfortable as well. All the food choices are well thought out and seem to have that extra ingredient that makes them unique. The servers have always been friendly and helpful,...while the bar selection has something for everyone.More
