During COVID, we ordered our food online and paid online. We picked up our food inside the diner within about 20 minutes. The staff was all wearing masks and there was hand sanitizer available as you walked in. We ordered grilled chicken sandwiches and burgers. The burgers were large and came with a very large portion of fries, a tomato, lettuce and pickle. The chicken sandwiches were on focaccia bread and we got those with a salad. Everything was average.

Pleasantly surprised

Stopped by for lunch-and had the luncheon special quiche and was blown away with the flavor. The crust was a little sweet but went so well with the broccoli and egg filling. It was probably the best quiche I have ever had. My compliments to the chef.

Matzo Ball Soup-a Must

We have eaten at the I-84 Diner a few times in the past. Each time we order the Matzo Ball Soup to start our meal. The chicken broth for the soup is outstanding. It is deep with flavor. The matzo balls are perfectly prepared. The menu has many types of food selections. Greek food, deli food, burgers, breakfast food, Italian food, and many other choices. The diner itself itself is a piece of Art Deco; it is not the usual diner. After entering the diner there is a long hall decorated in glitz with chrome throughout the hallway and diner. There are several dinning sections, including a banquet/special event area but during the dinnertime the diner fills quickly. The diner is absolutely clean and sterile. As usual, when we entered the diner, there were a couple of customers that were leaving. By the time they walked to the cashier. The crew was cleaning the table, seats, carpet, and the area surrounding the table. As we watched the crew clean the area, we noticed the thoroughness and effort they used to insure the area was clean. Michael was our server. He is excellent. He is fully knowledgeable about the menu. He is pleased to recommend selections. His timing is outstanding. He is attentive without hovering. Michael constantly monitors his customers' needs and takes appropriate and quick action. Michael is also very personable. The I-84 is more than a diner. It could pass for a full service restaurant.

Disappointing

Under “home cooking”, take out menu listed “Yankee pot roast”. Well, what came to us was NOT beef cubes braised with cut up vegetables, but generic slabs of beef slathered ingeneric canned gravy, no vegetables. Salads were just ok. Lasagna was pretty good.

Wish I Lived Close to the I-84 Diner

Was passing through Monday and checked into the Comfort Inn next to the I-84 Diner. Ended up going there for a late dinner and then also for breakfast. What a terrific restaurant!!! You can tell they do a huge business by the line management system that was incorporated into the design - but when I was there it was quiet. We had a spectacular Greek Salad, chicken vegetable soup and first rate meatballs/pasta (soggy sorry to say). Service was perfect. Did not capitulate to the pastries and deserts but oh my oh my do they look good. Breakfast was equally good. We had the Florentine and garden omelets. Huge portions and we took boxes with us. Price is very reasonable to the point I do not know how they can deliver such wonderful food in a pristine diner at these prices.

I recently dined at i84cafe, and it was a fantastic experience! The portions are incredibly generous, making it great value for the price. I was especially impressed with the variety of kids' options on the menu and the fun car that the food was served in, which kept the little ones happy and satisfied. The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and quick to accommodate our needs. Whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or a family meal, i84 diner is definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend!"

This Restaurant Sparkles!

The diner has lots of mirrors and glass throughout the building. There wasn’t a finger print or smudge, and no dirty tables or litter on the floor. We have never been at a restaurant that is maintained this clean, and that includes the bathrooms. They have an extensive menu and tasty meals. The restaurant has been at this location for 45 years and is conveniently right next to the Interstates’s on/off ramps. I-84 Diner is our favorite place to stop when making our family visits to New Hampshire.

Great food; great service

Friendly (and very speedy!) service. Generous portions. Salad was fresh: mixed greens, cukes, tomatos, onions, shredded carrot and a lovely Balsamic dressing. I ordered a chicken/broccoli/garlic/pasta meal that was excellent and extremely generous. I'll get another dinner and lunch out of it.

Great Diner!

I was traveling recently from Scranton to Maine and my hunger coincided with seeing thecI 84 Diner sign so I exited to have breakfast. It was early and not too busy yet. I was greeted warmly by either the owner or manager and grabbed a seat at the counter. My server greeted me with a smile and asked if I wanted coffee. The coffee came quickly and it was piping hot and very good. I ordered a hardy breakfast which included 3 eggs, 2 sausage patties and a perfectly toasted extra large English muffin. It was probably the best diner breakfast I have ever had. Nothing was disappointing. The eggs were cooked perfectly as ordered, the homefries with light onions and peppers were plentiful and delicious and the sausage patties were perfect. The owner/manager came by several times to check if I needed anything as did the excellent server. They gave a 5% discount for cash and sent me back on the road with a coffee to go. I very highly recommend this establishment. I will be sure to make it a regular stop!

Cobb Salads and Cakes

Dined here while guests of the adjacent Quality Inn. We enjoyed the Cobb salad which was HUGE and loaded with tasty grilled chicken. We also shared two dessert cakes - chocolate and cheesecake, both were very good and HUGE. Service was very efficient and most friendly. As former New Yorkers, we were happy to be back in a familiar environment.

Wonderful experience, restaurant is very clean and the service is great. Many, many items on the menu, very difficult to decide what to order. Food was really good, right off Rt I 84 and parking for trailers. Sexy experience.

This was the second time we were at this diner and it has become one of our favorite places to eat in Fishkill. The food is very good, the prices are reasonable, the portions are generous and the staff is friendly and very accommodating. A nice touch is that they offer a cash discount.

That was the best diner I had ever visited!

Went to the diner at around 1:00 for a quick lunch. The first thing I noticed was that there weren't many people there, making it a very peaceful and quiet experience. The staff were the most kind people I had ever met. We sat down and ordered. After maybe 5-10 minutes, we got our food. I ordered mozzerella sticks and chicken tenders. The mozzerella sticks were very cheesy, hot, and delicious. The chicken tenders were amazing. We still come back here every time we visit FIshkill.

Fantastic waitstaff at this famous diner! The salmon salad with goat cheese, cranberries and walnuts was delicious. The onion rings are good too. The Greek salad looked amazing too. The steak and cheese was good too!

What a Diamond!

We stopped by for dinner, hoping for some local foods done well. We were in for a treat. My wife had the Friday night special of scallops with mushroom risotto and sautéed spinach. Greatness! The scallops were perfectly done in a sweet orange sauce. Yum. The risotto was well balanced with the spinach, and again, done well. I had the homemade chicken pot pie. Crust was perfect, and the insides were awesome. Great flavor, and the chicken perfectly cooked. Bothe meals came with a salad. Ranch dressing was a little weak in flavor, the blue cheese was very good. Both dinner portions were Huge! We waddled away stuffed. Definitely worth the visit. Our server, Amber, was very friendly and efficient. You need to try this!
