I was a regular guest at the old Eldred preserve restaurant and waited years for this new facility which took its place. The grounds and the restaurant are very pretty. The food, however, was not good. We had a party of 6 so we had...very varied choices to sample. Cinnamon bread up front was good. And that’s where it ended. Salads were wilted and fair. Tuna was cold in the center and not tasty. The trout was ok, but the sides were wilted, as well. The other entrees were ok but not great. The desserts, although promised to be homemade, tasted like they came off an assembly line in the bronx. Bottom line: change the chef and get some people from the CIA to intern in the kitchen and come up with more creative and good tasting food. BRING BACK THE OLD TROUT MENU. Even though the old place was ‘tired’, the food was always excellent. You’re a trout farm: where is the trout pate, troutlings and multiple choices of broiled and sautéed fish.More

My sister and I came for 3 days. Place is gorgeous and very modern. Had problems with door bolt and tub draining. They were very nice and helpful and fixed it. Food was delicious. Service in lounge was a little slow just 2 people in...bar area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great time will highly recommend for people to visit Will hopefully come again.More

Everything about this place shows how much thought went into creating the most perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of NYC. From the luxurious bathrooms to the meticulously manicured property grounds, it was clear that every painstaking detail was considered when designing the Eldred...Preserve. If that weren't enough, the personal attention by the staff elevates the experience here above even the most top-rated hotels around the world. My partner and I were blown away every minute while staying on this property, and have decided this will be a yearly retreat for us (we can't imagine anyone ever coming here and not wanting to come back again and again!). Our only concern is too many people finding out about this place and it no longer being our hidden gem!More

The tuna tartare was horrendous-a mayonnaise mess thrown on a tiny bed of lettuce. The prices certainly did NOT match the poor quality. The entrees came without a real side dish, only a small weird ball of rice noodles that were not seasoned aside from...a sad sprig of raw parsley. I have been to diners that put this place to shame. I expected much better because of how beautiful the place is, don’t be fooled please. Drinks are fine. Maybe the steaks are ok but nothing we had was. We had some sides, roasted eggplant and tomato and the eggplant was essentially raw. They need to step up their game if they want business. Service was great and appreciated even if everything else was not.More

Having heard mixed reports about the Old Homestead Restaurant at ELdred Preserve we we were looking forward to trying it for ourselves. The room is absolutely beautiful although the layout is a little confusing. The building is quite large , had no valet parking and...the only open spots were a distance away. Our server was young and very tentative. Drink orders took a long time A vodka gimlet was sent back because it tasted like lemonade but our other drinks were good and very fairly priced. We ordered soups and a watermelon and cheese salad. The server didn’t know what cheese was included or mentioned that it was grilled and served hot. There was less than a tablespoon of feta. The onion soup was good but the mushroom bisque, although very good, was lukewarm. We ordered 2 24 oz ribeyes to be shared. They were brought to the table on single plates with a second plate. Steak knives had to be requested and we were expected to slice and divide them ourselves. Not the service expected in an expensive steakhouse. The steak was cooked to the temperature ordered but was very grisly. . The potato sides and creamed spinach were good but the mushrooms and onions were a tiny portion of mushy onions and a small portion of of mushrooms. With the lack of fine dining in this area the Old Homestead could fill a void. We understood the difficulty getting help in the restaurant business but they need to better train the employees they have if they are going to charge high prices. It would be a shame if they can’t match the food and service with the ambiance.More

WOW! On a scale of one to 10, The Eldred is an easy 15. We had the most amazing experience staying At The Bradstan. We were given a warm greeting at the front entrance by the owner, Dan Silna and the wonderful Irvin (who helped...us pick THE perfect suite for us.). The hotel architecture and every design element is perfect. I understand that Joan Silna had her hands all over the design. It is evident that she did it with a keen sense of style, elegance and love. No expense was spared and attention was given to every detail. The design and experience reminds me of the Mandarin Oriental in Lake Como. We can’t wait to go back. And only an hour and a half away from NYC! Thank you Dan and Joan for your vision to create such an elegant resort in the Catskills… and thank you Irvin for making the experience so memorable. XoxooxMore

This is an amazing property - the architecture, the rooms, the decor: all fantastic. And the food was out of this world. I look forward to returning often. The only thing that would make this resort better would be a golf course. ; )
