My husband and I went to the resort with five other couples. We all stayed over. My husband and I stayed in the main house which was very nice. Upon arrival we learned that the buffet we were expecting turned out to be a sit...down dinner. That wasn’t bad but we were seated in the main dining room with other people who were only there for dinner and not the New Years party in the banquet room.. Don’t know if that had anything to do with the service but we were seated at 7:15 and didn’t get our salad until 8:30. Drinks that we ordered were not delivered to our table until well after 8. Here’s another thing that was changed when we got there. The open bar that we thought we were getting was changed to 8-10pm.. Now the New Years party started at 8 but by the time we finished dinner it was 9:30 which left us a half hour before we had to buy our drinks. They definitely didn’t have enough help for a busy night. They realized they screwed up and the open bar was extended to us the rest of the night. I have to say our meal was very good. I ordered the Tom a hawk steak that was rare even though I ordered it medium rare. I switched my dish with a friend who had the beef wellington it was very good. Now for the party. If there was 50 people in the banquet room it was slot. Little kids were there running around. I have nothing against kids but they shouldnt have been at a grown up party playing with the decorations. The DJ was awful went from playing Frank Sinatra to rap music. The last thing that was a big disappointment was we learned when we checked in they changed the hot breakfast the next morning to a continental breakfast. I have had better continental breakfast at a Holiday Inn. Breakfast was coffee juice cereal and cinnamon buns the size of a half dollar. They could have put out some bagels or muffins pastries etc. Very disorganized planning by managementMore

6 couples stayed overnite for NYE. Here's our collective review good: food was very good, ample, well presented bad: changes without notification. we booked a room for $120 and $99/pp for the buffet meal and party with all nite open bar and next morning buffet...breakfast. When we got there we were told that the room was lowered to $99, there was a sitdown meal, no buffet, but the price was lowered to $75/pp. And the open bar was only from 8-10 with a cash bar after that. Economically it may have been a wash but that's not what we signed up for. Oh and you had to pay for the appetizers on the special menu. Oh, and the breakfast buffet was changed to a continental breakfast. Bad: service. Not the waitress fault but we didn't get the soup or salad for 1 1/2 hours. I mean that's stuff that's prepped ahead of time and should be served quickly. About 2 minutes after the salad we got the meal. We ordered drinks-never got them. We were also told thatd tip had to be added which was the first we heard. Problem was after the meal no one came around to collect it. We had to search for the waitress to tip her. Bad: bar. 2 bars, 1 bar tender each. Could not keep up with the orders. Asked for a Moscow Mule and was told by 1 bar tender they never heard of it. Asked for a Corona and they didn't have a bottle opener. They had to search for one. Really!!!!! Then either to make up for the backlog or because they weren't told to charge for drinks, everyone drank for free bad: party. looked like someone brought their home records and gave it to the first person they saw to dj. Played either Sinatra or latin music. zero energy. Only about a dozen other people at the party. bad: breakfast. ok, told the nite before there would be a continental breakfast even though we paid for a buffet. The breakfast consisted of some boxes of cereal, some shrink wrapped cinnamon buns about the size of silver dollars that you would find at a truck stop. and coffee.. When we asked why the buffet was changed we were told that the cook only works saturdays and sundays. When i asked if they knew that when we were told there was a buffet, the clerk shrugged her shoulders. It's a shame becasue the food is good, the facility pretty and clean. But the ownership has no idea how to run the placeMore

The Catskill Mountains Resort's Mountainside Restaurant is an annual stop while spending a Fall weekend in the area. There's a great menu with interesting specials, including a full Ocktoberfest menu. Service can be a bit slow when it's crowded, but the wait staff is very...accommodating and dinner is always a nice experience.More

We came back again since we heard there was a cook there who used to work at a favorite restaurant from way back. We had planned on chicken parm but found out there was a prime rib special that night so we all ended up...ordering the prime rib. we started with a nice fresh salad of mixed greens, cukes, tomatoes and onions. Everyone's meal came out to their liking and the portions were very generous. We finished the meal off with ice cream and cheesecake. Everything tasted great. We will be back again.More

The food and service was very good. Not crowded and tables are not on top of each other. Was there on a Saturday night and there was a pianist who played Broadway show tunes and other tunes for our enjoyment. Great option if you are...staying at ECCE B and B which is a 5 minute drive.More
