The food is absolutely incredible! With all the different types of flavors you will not get a better cooked meal (Plate weight buffet) if not here. We simply decided we enjoyed the food so much that this is now our go to place most Sundays. Relaxing in the courtyard with something cold to cool you down before you dig in to your mouth-watering meal! And afterwards you enjoy their nice ice cold ginger beer!!!!! Thanks Niekie & Soon

De Rust was perfect for lunch driving from Graaf-Reinet to Oudtshoorn and my local SIM soon had me zooming in on the Trading Post. We enjoyed a tasty, inexpensive lunch with 50cl of wine in the courtyard at the back. Our only problem was that Google maps had the Trading Post on the other side of the road. I fixed that when we got back home.

Visited here after having breakfast at the Village. Found this wonderful place next door. It is really quite an extensive shopping space with lovely African art/craft pieces. Lovely wooden bowls and salad servers all very easy to transport. Most of which are made in South Africa. Some great bargains there and we were told better than Capetown and they were absolutely right. Definitely pay them a visit.

Was surprised to find this restaurant in a small town. The so-called Sunday lunch buffet was fantastic! Only bad thing for us was our long drive back to Knysna afterwards. Next time we will definitely stay over

A lovely place to stop in De Rust. The owner was hospitable and the waitress was very friendly. Although the portions were not big, it was good quality and we enjoyed our breakfast.

If I could give zero I would. Absolutely avoid at all costs if you like good food. We have been travelling for 5 days now and I can honestly say this is the worst yet. The I believe owner in a strange hat literally pointed us to where we should go for a table. The table cloth was unkempt and had holes in it, the seating area needed a good clean and there was some sort of dead bug on the floor. The surly waitresses took our drink and food order. I ordered chicken curry wrapped in a pancake topped with cheese and salad. The chicken meat was everything from thigh meat including the slimy skin it didn’t look nice and the pancake was topped with some form of congealed white gloop. I’m sorry I cannot really describe the salad, maybe I’ll try when I describe my husband’s lunch. Ok...he ordered a homemade Karoo burger which turned out to be an over cooked dried out patty which he believed was made from offal and contained grisly bone bits. It was served in what looked like a road kill bun with some more of the white gloop and topped with what was supposed to be onion marmalade but really looked more like a melted, grated breast implant. The salad...mmn...well I think it had some olives and pickled cauliflower, cucumber and lettuce but I cannot promise that’s what they were. Any way we are all different you must make up your own mind.

Visited for a second time on Monday with work colleagues, the owner was very personal, the beverages cold and a welcoming snack was offered with the beverages. Since the kitchen was closed, the owner offered other options and even recommendations for other places in the area! I will return on the bike, next!

Wonderful venue. We were looking forward having sunday lunch there. After we enjoyed coffee and someting to eat earlier the week, we decided to have sunday lunch there, which is a buffet. Unfortunately when we arrived that first of all the food was cold, and that each plate with food has to be weighed. AND THE PLATES ARE VERY HEAVY. My husband went for seconds and only got 2 slices of roast pork and this 2 slices cost him R99, because of the weight of the plate. I have already completed the process of weighing my food and was already sitting down to eat, when the owner confronted me to go weigh my food. This was not a good experience at all. Daylight robbery.

Meant to be Spring but it was a cold wet day, rain much needed, so not complaining. We came across the Village Trading Post and the minute we opened the door we were at home, fire burning, lovely vibe and very busy being a Sunday, all the locals trek in from the surrounding areas for a social get together. A buffet is served and you are charged by weight. I found the food to be exceptional and the value beyond belief, our meal for two including two carafes of wine came to R291 excluding tip, amazing. Nicky is the Owner and a character of note in terms of dress. We finished off with a fantastic Malva pudding. What a great lunch and what a find. If in De Rust this is a must.
