This stop is well located on the R62. The people are very pleasant. We could not reconcile the ratings on Tripadvisor though. We were advised the locals enjoy the egg, pap and lam shavings for breakfast or brunch, but we would have preferred something else.

What a lovely roadside stop for lunch between Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn. Family run, good home cooking and full of memorabilia. Absolutely delightful. I highly recommend a stopover here for a bight to eat surrounded by the Joy's of nature

We enjoyed our meal and experience at Karooboom so much that we had to return a second time. It's only about a 15 to 20 minute drive from Calitzdorp and an unforgettable spot. It's probably the most authentic South African food I've ever had in...a restaurant, with our lamb chops, wors and steak coming right off the coals in the kitchen - such excellent quality meat. The sides were also plentiful and delicious, with many ingredients right off their farm (which the restaurant is actually located on). The vibe is really special, with the entire family helping out and making you feel very welcome. This place is a must-visit if you're in the area and we honestly plan to go back to Calitzdorp again, just so we can enjoy another meal here and the special setting.More

Wonderful Afrikaans, traditional South African Sunday lunch, a la cart breakfast, lunch, dinner for the test of the week. Regional South African and International guests will enjoy the setting, food is meat based and traditional, so not fine dining, vegetarian and vegan, the real deal...boerekos. Traditional potjie, meat based with vegetables, cooked on the fire. Its 20 km outside Calitzdorp on the R62, you need a car to get here. Its popular for sunday lunch - buffet, starter, main and desert for R160 pp, there is wine also to purchase. Enjoy!More

We had a really good experience in Karooboom. This was our only night in the region for dinner we opted for Ostrich Steaks which was exactly what we were looking for in the Karoo. The food was really good including desserts as well. The service...we got from the lady there was just the best she was very accommodating for everything we needed. The interior and garden are decorated very quirky lots to look at while you are waiting for your food!More

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. We came back here after two years as we remembered our amazing dinner - the best braai meat in the Klein Karoo - and on top of that the service and personal experience we received is not comparable to...anywhere else. This restaurant is run by a lovely family who will make sure they make something you’ll love, this will not disappoint you. On our most recent visit, we ordered lamb chops, pap and gravy, amazing vegetables. Everything is fresh and most of the vegetables come from their garden. We enjoyed our return visit just as much as the last and already are look forward to our next trip to Calitzdorp, so we can visit Karooboom again! Side note, this restaurant is easy to find as it right off the R62!More

A quick stop along Route 62 on the motorbikes - and on this particular rainy morning this was a warm haven with a toasty oven and delicious food! Recommendation : the biltong, feta and onion marmalade toastie - the bread is made fresh daily in...the oven outdoors! Sitting by the little Dreamcook stove warmed the wet knees and gave us a chance to revive before carrying on! There is also a chance to buy some local produce - Red Cactus Pear Jam!More

We had an amazing experience at this place, we were greeted by the proprietors son and seated. He also informed us exactly where to look on the menu for the dishes that you would not tind at any other eatery. This is a uniquely South...African establishment with extremely hospitable staff.More

Bad experience. You have to fight off flies while you eat. Found hairs in the food and owner/ manager lady did not even apologize. Will never go there again.
