After a horse ride on the estate, I decided to have a snack and relax on the terrace. I ordered the scones with tea. They were massive, fresh, warm and served with enough toppings (cheese, butter, jam and cream). I savoured it in the coach...next to the fire. Amazing setting... I would have loved to try the restaurant itself, but it was fully booked for the evening...More

We didn't have much time on this occasion, but I was delighted that the place seemed to be back to its old high standards. Some time ago this was not the case. The grounds are stunning and well-maintained and the interior is grand without being...ostentatious. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Our snacks and drinks were delicious and I cannot wait to go back for a longer visit.More

This is a real treat to drive to. Outside of Johannesburg and worth the drive. I would suggest you leave early as there is also plenty to do in the craft village of Dullstroom. The drive down from the main road is truly picturesque and...hard to believe that a place like this exists there. There are quite a few trout dams and I think you can catch and release. Overnight accommodation is also available but on the pricy side. I can recommend this venue.More

We had the set menu for supper. Simply superb - cooked to perfection. There is an extensive wine list to choose from or you can use their suggested wine pairings to enhance your meal further.

This is a beautiful setting and looks very grand, however we really struggled with the dis interested service, the waitron couldnt seem to get our order right and when the food eventually did arrive it was all cold and miserable. They seem to rely on...the fact that there is no other restaurant nearby. what a dissappointment, much better service and food available a few Kms away in DullstroomMore

Recently, during a stay at this five star hotel, we got to experience several days of dining here from leisurely breakfasts to relaxed pub luncheons to their fine dining tasting menus and I could not have been more impressed with both the versatility and comprehensive...range of meals on offer here. Location: Location, location. This restaurant is nestled in the Dullstroom countryside surrounded by the scenic Mpumalanga highlands and several well stocked trout dams.. what's not to love? The restaurant has several nooks and crannies to suit your personal seating tastes (such as its Terrace, Peggy's Pub or The Flying Scotsman) to choose from which have a real Scottish country manor feel, and fireplaces strategically located around the entire building for that hearth comfort. Service: Whether it be Elias, Nico or Richard at the helm to serve us, it is hard not to notice how seamlessly and professionally the hotel staff work together as a team. I was impressed one afternoon after chatting to Elias to hear that he along with a lot of the other staff in fact started off doing the hotel maintenance jobs, and today, he now runs both the bar and restaurant like a true pro. Food: As mentioned above, from picturesque breakfasts overlooking the trout dams to an evening of fine dining in their Flying Scotsman, Walkersons seem to cater for every eating preference including a separate section to accommodate families with small children. Top three dishes during our stay: - Sweet Potato Soup served with a potato skin garnish. - Springbok Carpaccio with pickled vegetables and Melba toast drizzled with garlic aioli. - Chicken 'Marengo' braised in a rich tomato sauce with mushrooms, peppers, olives, pickled onion and dill cucumbers served over white rice. *Recommendation: Walkersons is definitely a must-visit for a meal whilst in Dullstroom!More

Heading to walkersons restaurant for dinner is always a treat. The food fantastic, the decor well suited and luxurious. A must try are the scones with tea on the porch in the mornings!

We were a party of 7 who arrived for a late lunch at the end of December. Beautifully scenic venue with comfortable seating arrangement. The negative of our visit was the lack of staff attention - too few staff available for the number of guests...in addition to the service vacuum which occurs at a shift change. The fishermans baskets, ordered by four of our party, were very salty. Other meals were perfectly prepared and beautifully prepared. Coffee was disappointing - lacking depth of flavour and consistency.More
