The service is amazing. Honestly, I kind of wanted to not stay as I found the decor a bit outdated and there were no tables outside on a rather hot day. The owner told a nice little story about Mrs Wallace Simpson and we ended up ordering more than just drinks. The fresh trout meal totally blew me away and `I would certainly go back.

Fortunately we booked well ahead for our dinner at this popular restaurant. We were shown to our table on the upper level (try to get one on the ground floor for a better atmosphere) and chose our wine from a good selection on the stairway. We ordered soft shell crab, snails and mussels as starters, all very tasty. For mains we had the stuffed trout, chicken livers and prawns, also well presented and tasty. The creme brûlée was unfortunately not firm under the top crust though

This restaurant offered the best quality food we had during our stay in Dullstroom. The service is very personal and the ambiance and decor makes it a very special place to be. Menu may not be as large as other restaurants but good variety and reasonably priced. Booking upfront is recommended especially for dinner. Make time and enjoy a good meal in an awesome place.

My lovely wife and I had dinner here with friends. The sign on the door which said "sorry we are full" was clearly well used, so do make a reservation in advance. the restaurant was wonderful, cosy and welcoming with plenty of artefacts on the walls to entertain you for a long while. We were seated upstairs. My prawn tails starter was tasty but slightly overcooked, but the lamb curry which followed was amazingly good! My wife had the carpaccio followed by a fillet steak. Her only complaint was the size of the steak at 350 gr which she could not finish (another happy car guard). Service was good and quick despite the full restaurant and a great time was had by all.

We were visiting Dullstroom at an Estate just outside the town. All our previous visits to Mrs Simpson's have been really good/great. And this was no exception. The service was very attentive without being overpowering. The restaurant was full (it was a festival weekend in Dullstroom) but there was no sense of being rushed or pressured to finish to make space for the next sitting. An excellent meal that met our requirements and requests for a variation to the menu items. The temperature outside was very cold but inside the restaurant the warmth of the ambiance and service and friendliness was outstanding. We have been before and we will go again when we are in Dullstroom.

Always love dining at Mrs Simpsons as it delivers far more than just amazing food. Its stand out for us is the feeling of being welcomed into a home where the owners, Brian and Stephen, plus their staff, interact with all guests continuously. This is a restaurant where the sound of laughter mingles with the constant exclamations of appreciation for food made with passion and love. Our dinner last night consisted of starters of mussels and snails followed by kingklip and lamb curry. Each dish beautifully presented and exquisitely prepared. Cant wait to go back for lunch tomorrow, this time leaving space for dessert. Thank you Brian and Stephen for all the great memories you have given us over the years

Great restaurant and ambiance Very friendly hosts Good food and drink for all We arrived Christmas Eve we were early but still received a warm welcome . The children were accommodated with a kiddies menu . The best dish was the chocolate tort which was a generous helping with ice cream but my “ Christmas dinner “ pork and lamb with roast potatoes and mint sauce was excellent too !

The host Brian is definitely one of the main reasons why people come back again. He really knows how to make one feels welcome. We had the Thai chicken which was delicious and tender and my husband had a delicious pork chop. We will definitely visit again.

I asked if they had a vegan option and the owner went straight to the kitchen and came back offering a bamboo Thai curry. My word. I can say with confidence that that was the best Thai curry that I have ever had. I was completely blown away by the depth of flavour. I loved the no fuss attitude. I loved the complexity of flavours. I loved that it was healthy and I loved that it wasn’t an after thought dish. It truly was a spectacular experience. Thank you! I highly recommend others visit the establishment. It’s truly a gem!

What a delightful experience! We were passing through & decided on the second highest rated restaurant as we were hungry & therefore less likely to appreciate an “artistic” meal. Mrs Simpson’s is a charming restaurant, small, quaint & quirky. It’s like a museum, meets British pub. The menu is not expansive but there is more than enough to choose from & they have smaller portions for the kids. The service was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious, really really really good! Large portions delicately flavored to perfection. They did have one vegetarian option in the menu however if you call ahead they said they can prepare something special and also cater for vegans. (I had that one vegetarian meal & it was exceptional). Great wine selection with some local craft beers. If you want a wonderful culinary memory, then go to Mrs Simpson’s! Ps: lovely charity bookstore next door, we bought a whole box of books for next to nothing.

Thanks to TA we stopped in for a lunch whilst on our road trip home. The service was outstanding and the food excellent. My husband had the Thai Chicken curry and I had the Prawn Pasta, each of which were delicious. We finished off with sharing a crepe brûlée which was also delicious. We will definitely be back when passing through again. Highly recommend.

All round amazing experience. I have been in dullstroom working for January, February & March 2022 & have eaten at Mrs Simpsons every night it’s open (5 days a week). The service is one of the best I have ever experienced, you can really tell everyone working there cares a lot about the restaurant. It’s like a family, they really make you feel at home. Along with that the food is fantastic I’ve had almost every meal on the menu & have never had one I disliked. One of the best experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. If you’re passing through or staying in Dullstroom you simply have to go to Mrs Simpsons, you won’t regret it!

Stephen and his staff were outstanding hosts and their service was top draw. We enjoyed a wonderful variety of dishes from soup, snails, prawns, beef curry, eisbein and the deserts were very interesting - Peanut Butter ice cream and apple crumble. The ambiance and decor are magic. They tell a story of passion for food and life. In addition we got to spend a night at Windsor House, which is well designed and has all the comforts of home. Thanks for a very enjoyable experience. 👌

Owner run restaurants are simply in a league of their own. Mrs. Simpson's is no exception where Stephen and Bryan with their extremely competent staff will ensure that your visit will be remembered for some time to come. Excellent food and outstanding service made up for the COVID-19 restrictions. Our bithday dinner was most enjoyable and simply superb - as always!
