A very unassuming restaurant but offers lovely, simple homemade food. Staff is very friendly and I got a lovely treat on my birthday. Definitely recommend.

What a hidden gem. Tiny little restaurant hidden away in the Piazza and so so delicious. Quirky decor adds to the wonderful ambience. Decor is so cute and really takes you into Alice in Wonderland. When we were asked if we wanted to see a...menu, i never imagined a life-size menu. So sweet! The food was delicious, service fast and friendly.More

What a culinary delight! Wow, the food was so delicious, I couldn’t help closing my eyes to experience each bite fully! I had the lentil curry with veg, my husband had the hake florentine & my daughter had the French toast with berry compote, honey,...cream & custard. The restaurant setting is in a lovely little center & the kitchen is visible within the restaurant…it feels more personal to have the food prepared in front of you. Do not miss this restaurant! Ps: they don’t serve alcohol but you can bring your favourite wine. Thanks for a heavenly experience! We will definitely be back!More

The best little breakfast nook in town. Homemade chillies with a kick and a piazza with so much character that makes you feel like your in Italy. Fresh food, great coffee and awesome service. Not to be missed

We recently had lunch at the Mad Hatter and are so glad we did. We would drive two hours to Dullstroom just to eat there again! The space is delightful, in the inner courtyard of a lovely little mall towards the outskirts of town. We...sat outside next to the fountain but the interior of the small restaurant is decorated in an Alice in Wonderland theme. It really is charming. The kitchen is a part of the dining area so you can watch the owner/chef and his staff preparing your meal. It is amazing what they turn out, given how small the kitchen is. The menu changes regularly and I was so delighted to see multiple vegetarian options. I talked through my options with the chef and he took the time to understand my dietary restrictions and to offer choices, My fussy son wasn't particularly excited about the more gourmet options and they gladly catered to his desire to have plain old "fish and chips". Our meals were prepared very quickly considering they were all made from scratch. We were all really happy with what we ordered. While the Mad Hatter is not currently the top rated restaurant in Dullstroom, I would suggest that it should be. If you are seeking a truly gourmet meal in a lovely setting, please give them a try.More

We were the first to arrive for breakfast on that day and had almost completed our meal before the next couple arrived so I would not like to comment of the atmosphere. The initial service was prompt and the Steward was well au fait with...the menu and it's contents. The meals and coffee were served at the correct temperature within the time promised. It was pleasant to note that the meals were made from contents from within the area. Dullstroom is know for their trout farms. The toasted bread was made within the restaurant kitchen. The only difficulty is to try an explain to somebody were the restaurant is because it is found in the second row of buildings.More
