Serving country-style contemporary continental cuisine with a South-African twist from a bistro style, ever changing black board. Local, fresh farm produce. Some of the best wines in Wellington features on the wine list. Open Wednesdays to Saturdays for LUNCH and DINNER & Sundays for LUNCH only. Thursday steak special is amazing. Thick-cut steak made as ordered and without unnecessary marinades (I prefer this because the meat is high quality) at a really low price - unbelievable. The lamb curry also amazing and the cheesecake well balanced. Friendly and humble staff. I will definitely return for more.

We recently had the opportunity to dine at Oude Wellington Restaurant, and were blown away by the both the food and hospitality. John and Susanna went out of their way to accommodate us, and made us feel like absolute royalty.
We had the snoek fishcake as a starter, the pork belly for main, and cheesecake with passionfruit coulis for dessert - all excellent. The portions are extremely generous, plating is thoughtful, and the flavours were outstanding.
The venue is stunning with a warm ambiance. There is cosy inside section for the colder winter days/evenings, and a spacious outdoor area for the warmer days/evenings. I can only imagine how stunning a wedding here would be.
We will definately be returning and can highly recommend!

We ate as a family in December. It was hot so we dined outside. The host was pleasant and professional. Young kids must beware that there are snakes around so we were with our young kids all the time. The food was very good especially the fillet steak. The setting is very old school and rustic but the food prices we felt were very expensive. We have eaten at many five star restaurant and the pricing here matched those without the nice setting. So if you don't mind old and rustic and high prices, the food does redeem it as it was really good. But for our taste we may not be back because of the price and setting.

One of the Cape's best kept secrets. A real hidden gem of a restaurant with an interesting menu and exceptional food. The pork belly was the best ever! We had lunch here three times on a recent trip to South Africa and will definitely be back.

My wife and I had dinner at Oude Wellington on 27th May 2023. It was our first meal there.
We had Dutch bitterballen with mustard paint and Bobotie samoosas served with raisin chutney for starters and Belly of pork, crackling, soya honey glaze & baked apple and Cape chicken curry with basmati rice & sambals.
All the food was very tasty and complimented by great.

Absolutely rubbish. We had a reservation but the restaurant was closed. Don’t waste your time driving out to it. The separate guest accommodation and staff looked good.

Good day
We were on leave for two weeks in January. The restaurant only reopened again on 25 January. If anyone from the guesthouse took your reservation, they were not authorized to do so, because we are two different businesses with two different owners.
I hope that you found a restaurant in Wellington. There are amazing restaurants to choose from in our beautiful town. Next time when you make a reservation at a guesthouse or hotel, double check on your eating arrangements. This way you won't be disappointed or feel aggresive.

The setting is fine but the staff is rude and unhelpful. We asked the waiter for things which she just never bring just to be told by the manager after the third time that it is not available. I think it is overpriced as well and will definitely not return.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. At least we can tell our side of your story.
I am going to be very straightforward about that nightmare of a day for our guests, our staff and myself.
When you arrived, you refused to follow the covid protocol by not wearing a mask or sanitized.. We split your group in two by setting up two tables 2 meters from each other. Half your group threw a tantrum, because our restaurant was following the covid rules.
We let everybody filled in the register and halve of you refused to do it.
Next you played loud music from your cellphone and did not respect the other restaurant guests that was not part of your group.
Yes you did ask for hot sauce for your prepaid lunch by a company that paid us. Our waitress did informed you that we make everything homemade and do not have commercialized sauce in a bottle. However, the chef went out of his way to accommodate you by handpicked fresh chillies in our garden. Off course this take some time to clean and chopped especially for you. In the meantime you got so impatient and lifted our wooden table with plates of food and glasses with drinks from the ground.
At this point, I asked you to please behave or you must leave the restaurant and go back to your farm.
Your bill for 10 people were R1200 with the R200 tip included. You had a couple of rounds of craft beers, half a bottle of our exclusive estate brandy, sodas, wine and coffee.
To be very honest, if I see you again at our restaurant, I will definitely have security on standby.

We had lunch here on a VERY hot day (it was approaching 40 deg) and we were surprised that everyone was seated outdoors on uncomfortable chairs (no fans) when it would have been much more comfortable sitting inside (where it was empty) out of the heat. Also my husband and me were seated at a table on the dirt, which was also uncomfortable when there were other two seater tables available on the bricks. So this spoilt the experience for us. Apart from this, the food was great
