What a hidden gem of a place! It exudes a charming countryside ambiance, adorned with an array of vintage decorations and curiosities to captivate your interest. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by a friendly waitress (whose name, regrettably, escapes me, given the one-month...gap since my visit). The service was truly exceptional, with both the waitress and the manager displaying remarkable attentiveness to ensure our experience was nothing short of stellar. Our dining journey commenced with a refreshing Erdinger Weissbrau and a crisp beer shandy, setting the tone for a delightful evening. For starters, we opted for the jalapeño poppers, a culinary revelation as they incorporated smoked ham, lending a unique and delicious twist to this classic dish, far beyond the ordinary flavors found in most places. Moving on to our main courses, we savored the remarkable ribs and chips, distinguished by their exceptional basting, a welcome departure from the standard fare at other establishments. I also indulged in the pork neck steak, served with the vegetables of the day, chips, and sauerkraut, which culminated in a truly amazing meal. The evening unfolded with an enchanting atmosphere, accentuated by a few crackling fireplaces scattered throughout the restaurant. This serene, peaceful setting offers a respite from the hustle and bustle. With fresh, generously portioned dishes, I recommend this spot for a monthly retreat or as a must-visit while on vacation. It's an unforgettable experience.More

I use to enjoy the atmosphere at Im Eimer, a bit different and definitely a specific taste. My partner and I and a friend went there for dinner and had a pleasant time until we were told to be "more discreet". As someone that always...consider other people around me and understanding the sensitivity that's still evident around LGBTQ+ people, my partner and I decided to sit opposite each other until after dinner, to just finish our wine before we leave. While our friend went to the restroom, he moved next to me and I placed my hand on his lower back, maybe touching his leg under the table for literally about 2/3 minutes - that's it! Not kissing or cuddling or even making it awkward to anyone, the owner's son walked up to us from the bar area to tell us to be "more discreet". I did not see him tell the couple opposite us, celebrating their anniversary, to be more discreet when they were kissing and holding hands earlier. Also taking into consideration that when we touched each other, absolutely NO ONE was in the restaurant anymore. He said that "people" complained...seriously, what people I asked...but without any valid answers from his side, we decided to leave. At the end, each to their own. Therefore, be advised that nothing other than the German-way will be tolerated at (Erbrochenes) Im Eimer.More

We booked this restaurant at the last minute having been told the food was great but the place was quirky. Well we certainly weren’t disappointed on either score because we had amazingly schnitzels and the surroundings were particularly idiosyncratic! The house speciality is Eisbein which...is a massive pork knuckle that needs to be preordered as it is cooked all day! The service was great with really friendly staff who were genuinely concerned that we were having a great time - which we were. Don’t expect the Ritz but go with an open mind & enjoy. We ate inside which was very cosy.More

As I have been to I'm Eimer before I was happy to see that they have kept to their high standard. The restaurant has a rustic German beer garden feel with memorabilia spread around, making for interesting conversation topics, and although a big portion of...the restaurant is outside/undercover, they also have a small area inside for those cold winter days. As this is a German restaurant, their menu obviously includes a range of different German drinks and dishes. Their stand-out dish, which I have tried before, is the Eisbein and I can highly recommend it. If you decided on going for the Eisbein, note that it takes 45min+ to prepare so maybe phone ahead and order to ensure they can start the prep. This time around I went for the Pork Belly that comes with sauerkraut and mash which I also really enjoyed. The staff are very friendly and regardless if you are just going for a couple of drinks or something to eat as well, you will have a good time.More

We waited almost an hour for our food. There were only 2 other tables. The schnitzel was drowning in oil. And the chips were soft and mushy. When we sent the food back the manager came to our table and told us there was nothing...wrong with the food. We were initially polite. But when she started arguing with us we lost our temper. She treated us like naughty children who didn't know anything about food. It was shocking to be spoken to that way. And then when she could see we were getting upset she just laughed at us. Mind-boggling how an establishment can be so dismissive of a customer. I very rarely leave bad reviews as I appreciate small business but this treatment is really one for the books. The disregard and disrespect was so disappointing. We should have read the recent reviews about how other people were so disappointed before we went.More

Well talking of grumpy Germans, maybe ( Gero T) and (Rock Milo 12) should retire in Germany and soak up the chrome and plastic. Concept is supposed to be rustic and we have never found the place dirty ,as a result of the overbearing owner....Take it the world travellers have never been to " Joe's beer house " in Windhoek ( thats in Namibia) a proud Icon of the city and the same concept. On the one occasion we received an incorrect meal order, the owner's reaction was to arrange a meal on the house next time around. Something not normally seen in Somerset West.More

This place is filthy and dirty, tables and chairs must be from the junk yard. We know the real German way. This place may be owned by Germans but is not typical at all. Knowing Germany like my pocket I NEVER found a place like..."im Eimer" in Germany. I fully agree to the review of RockMilo12.More

Went there for sunday lunch. Ok vibe for going for bike breakfast run. Place generally in a poor state, ok, but no excuse for being dirty, staff can come in earlier or stay late and clean and tidy the place. Basically a dirty playground for...the owner. Toilets are a literal sh*tbox, the plumbing done by Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye! Food ok, depends what you order and kitchen seems in a twilight zone when it come to food timing. Tip: Owner should retire, stay away and get a good ,responsible person the run the the place and kitchen, once again, a plaything for the owner, whom throws his toys out of the cot if/when someone complains! Stay at home, you might increase your turnover!More

Im Eimer gives you the feeling of a junk shop: old stuff everywhere. Long tables, where you can drink beer and feel the German atmosphere. We entered at 16 h, just after loadshedding. A nice bottle of wine. Then we had to wait 75 min...for our food. Eisbein takes 45 min says the menu, so we had pre ordered it. Other restaurants offer a little chip, peanut If a client has to wait extremely long. Here nothing. So we were patient. The food was not very special. I do not think we will return.More
