If you want to be assured of good food Henri's should be top of your list. We go often and are NEVER disappointed. Recently my husband and I both started with the Thai mussels which were excellent, followed by the Martini Sea Bass which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the gourmet burger which he said was really good.. The slices of garlic pizza instead of bread are a special touch and a bonus is they don't charge corkage. I highly recommend Henri's which remains, in our opinion, one of the best restaurants to eat at in Somerset West. With Pierre, the owner's hands-on attentiveness, it ensures that the quality of the food and the service is always outstanding.

We have been going to Henri’s regularly for the last six years. With lockdown, we haven’t been in a while, but went again for the first time last night. I’m happy to report that even though restaurants are fighting for their lives at the moment, this restaurant has retained all its special and wonderful features. Cosy, warm, relaxed, inviting and happy atmosphere; tasty, delicious, high-quality food; and Pierre and Marcel, along with Shez and the rest of the team, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and spoiled. The food choices really are exceptional and my husband’s dish of the slow baked lamb shoulder was one the best things he’s ever had in a restaurant. We absolutely love Henri’s and would highly recommend it as one of the best in the Winelands.

If the weather is good and you have a table on the terrace, expect a 6 star experience. Sadly it was raining so gets given the App's maximum of 5. We were a table of six and despite the "languid" description, the service was perfectly paced and charming. Food was what you ought to expect from this long established restaurant. It was almost full and looking around, the other diners looked local and regulars. We only booked that morning and obviously lucky to get a table. Dress code might come under "casual stylish" Oysters were freshly shucked and creamy. Creative dishes and portions perfect, not piled high for a weight lifter who hasn't eaten for a week.

As Henri’s came highly recommended, we decided to dine there on a recent visit to Somerset West. Six in our party of seven adults ordered the deconstructed ‘avocado Ritz’ and the remaining family member ordered the carpaccio starters. The prawns were well cooked and the overall dish was very good. The carpaccio was also good. What a huge pity that the main courses didn’t fare as well. The T Bone steak was tough and lacked flavour. Two of the fillet steaks were just okay but mine looked like an off cut and was not prepared medium as requested. It was also a little tough which is highly unusual for fillet. One lady in our party ordered the Bouillabaisse starter to be served as a main. While tasty it was a small portion and not worth the price. Prices are steep and portions small! We decided to forego dessert and ordered coffee instead. Service was attentive but not intrusive and our Korean waiter impressed us with his sharp memory. Non of our orders were written down but were memorised with absolute accuracy. Very impressive!

Consistent excellence A great menu, a welcoming team and comfortable surroundings makes Henri’s a great family restaurant. The menu is varied, chicken liver starters are the best in the region and steaks are great. Personalized service and attention makes every meal feel special.

Pierre and Marcel continue to excel. My last review 3 years ago remains valid. This time we had an outstanding breakfast not just the food but all round. We were a late booking which was very well handled and 6 of us had an exclusive large niche with window allowing for COVID free inside eating (normally I will only eat outside). Service was impeccable unobtrusively managed by the owners. The food - two eggs benedict pronounced as almost perfect by the restaurateur in our midst ; two full breakfasts which offered more than the menu and two others - all 5*.

Probably the best restaurant of its type in Somerset West. The quality of the food, sophisticated and expertly served made for a most enjoyable experience. There is adequate parking alongside, by turning in off Lourensford Road

We visited Henri's to try out their new brunch menu. As is typical of Henri's, the service was excellent, food was very good, promptly served and very tasty. We were disappointed that there was limited choice of dishes on the menu. Omelettes were conspicuous by their absence!

It has been a number of years since I last dined at Henri’s in Somerset West, and I was delighted to find that despite the Covid-19 pandemic challenges, Henri’s have maintained their high standards. Both the food and the service was outstanding. My crispy Patagonian calamari starter was very tasty, and our slow roasted pork belly mains were delicious. For dessert, I simply had to try their homemade waffle topped with vanilla ice-cream, toasted pecans and a rum butterscotch sauce – I was not disappointed! My wife and I will be back as soon as Covid-19 regulations permit!

I had a very bad experience over 3 years ago due to an untrained waiter who messed up our order so badly, it took me 3 years to go back. Had a couple of good experiences recently but tonight was a repeat of the last really bad experience. A completely untrained waitress who had no clue what she was doing who couldn't answer any questions about the menu messed up the entire order, messed up the bill and also the payment. It was yet another bad experience at Henri's. When will they learn that untrained staff lose them customers. Service was beyond terrible, I got the wrong food, was charged for the wrong thing and so it went on and on. Food was average. Chocolate tart was totally dry and horrible. That was the last chance for Henri's. I must have been unlucky twice reading all the good reviews here. I won't go back. There are great restaurants in the area without having a hit and miss exoerience at Henri's.

If the food would be as great as its optical presentation and the atmosphere of the premises, this would be a 5-points place. Unfortunately the food - we had one starter, 2 main courses and desserts - was in all cases very good, but not exceptional. Don’t let me be misunderstood, this is nevertheless one of the best places in town.

This was my first trip to South Africa and Henris was very high on the list of places to eat as recommended by locals. My Australian (and South African) work colleagues and I had several meals over our three week stay and every time we were welcomed like family, served well, and very well fed! The owner was not just present, but happy, conversational, and involved with the customers. Staff presented very well, spoke a number of languages, and memorised a specials / daily menu that was larger than the printed menu! The food was excellent, and the menu had a good selection of foods specific to South African cuisine which allowed us to broaden our dining experience. I had my first Kingklip (fish) meal at Henris and it became my "metric" for comparing restaurants since it was in season in March so several restaurants had it on their menus. Henris was always the one to beat, and was only matched by one other restaurant we visited which was a seafood restaurant! The (beef) steaks were excellent, cooked to perfection (I take medium rare, and it was exactly just so), and the pasta dishes reminded me of my time in Italy. From my perspective the value for money was excellent, it would be very hard for me to find a restaurant in Australia which would compare, without spending a lot more money! I will gladly recommend Henris to anyone I know who is visiting the Western Cape, I am sure they won't be disappointed. And one simply MUST finish their dining experience with a Dom Pedro, the spirit of South Africa (and a South African Spirit!).

My wife and I dined here with a large tour group. The waitstaff did an outstanding job welcoming us, taking and serving our drink orders, and taking and serving three courses of meals for a very large group. My wife and I started out with a bottle of white wine. We ordered the crispy Patagonia calamari and the smoke springbok carpaccio. Both came with rocket lettuce. The calamari also had a salsa and aioli while the springbok came with Parmesan strips in a vinaigrette. We ordered the slow roasted deboned lamb neck with a mint mashed potato, tempura green beans and red wine au jus. We also ordered the exotic mushroom risotto as this was the perfect complement to the lamb. The risotto was topped with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese strips. This was the best tasting lamb dish ever and we eat a lot of lamb!!! Another person in our group ordered the linefish, which was the fish of the day. This, too, was excellent. For the lamb, we switched to a bottle of a wonderful red wine. Several ordered desserts, but I opted to watch a sunset from the balcony All in all, this was a perfect dining experience by an excellent waitstaff. The proprietor even came by to ensure we were well taken care of. First class all the way around.

What a absolute plesent suprise this hidden gem was. The menu was diverse the specials were so fabulous it was hard to choose and the quality and service was 5 star brilliant! I felt quily my husband didnt experience as i was with friends but it gives me even more reason to go bk. We had a selection of starters and a range of mains. Food was fresh and cooked to perfection and the waitress was experienced and kniwledgable about all the food options. She was a delight- she had a hebrew name. The manager Pier was friendly and accomodated us last minute. Even though the resturant was super busy the service was fabulous. I will be back and stay in the area just to come bk to Henris place Thank you!
