We had a private dining room (7 guests) with excellent, but not "in the way" waitressing. Just attentive. All the food arrived at the same time and from ribs to fish to steak was prepared perfectly.

This was my first trip to South Africa and Henris was very high on the list of places to eat as recommended by locals. My Australian (and South African) work colleagues and I had several meals over our three week stay and every time we...were welcomed like family, served well, and very well fed! The owner was not just present, but happy, conversational, and involved with the customers. Staff presented very well, spoke a number of languages, and memorised a specials / daily menu that was larger than the printed menu! The food was excellent, and the menu had a good selection of foods specific to South African cuisine which allowed us to broaden our dining experience. I had my first Kingklip (fish) meal at Henris and it became my "metric" for comparing restaurants since it was in season in March so several restaurants had it on their menus. Henris was always the one to beat, and was only matched by one other restaurant we visited which was a seafood restaurant! The (beef) steaks were excellent, cooked to perfection (I take medium rare, and it was exactly just so), and the pasta dishes reminded me of my time in Italy. From my perspective the value for money was excellent, it would be very hard for me to find a restaurant in Australia which would compare, without spending a lot more money! I will gladly recommend Henris to anyone I know who is visiting the Western Cape, I am sure they won't be disappointed. And one simply MUST finish their dining experience with a Dom Pedro, the spirit of South Africa (and a South African Spirit!).More

Our first visit to Henri´s but definitely not our last. From our arrival to our departure, we felt very welcome. Very knowledge waitress, she could answer all our questions regarding the food content etc. The bouillabaisse was excellent (one of the best I have ever...had actually), according to the rest of the party, the steak was superb and so were the pizzas, especially with "pizza fino" thin base. We can definitely recommend Henri´s anytime. We also like the settings with different rooms, which created a homely atmosphere. In addition, good parking, so nothing at all to complain about. Sometimes the background music can be too loud at restaurant, but in this case, very soft and low volume, which was appreciated.More

Sunday lunch, it is not busy, our first time, we made a reservation. We were escorted to the darkest corner of the restaurant, not asking where we wanted to sit. Waitress was disappointed that we choose a not so expensive wine. Food: lambshank had not...much taste. Mussels: the sauce was good, but the mussels had been cooked a long tome before. Toast was partially burned.More

This restaurant is more private than expected at this location, including a nice terrace. They offer a good selection of steaks and fish, both well prepared (although the steak was overcooked and not as per our order). Service is very friendly but a bit slow...and inattentive. Still a nice place to go to for good value for money.More

After Covid completely turned the Somerset West restaurant scene upside down, we were delighted to see on a recent visit that the old Main Road staple Henri's is not only going strong, but may be better than ever. The warm and attentive staff is out...in force, with friendly greetings and impeccable service. We had a sublime bouillabaisse, a famous, complexly-flavored seafood stew dish originating from Marseilles, France. Henri's version, with generous helpings of mussels, prawns and fish, is actually better than anything we have ever been served in Marseilles, a stunning achievement. The kingklip was also superbly prepared. The menu remains extensive and generously priced. There is an extensive wine and cocktail list, but you are also welcome to bring a bottle. Kudos to a Somerset West Covid survivor where we can look forward to many return visits.More

My wife and I dined here with a large tour group. The waitstaff did an outstanding job welcoming us, taking and serving our drink orders, and taking and serving three courses of meals for a very large group. My wife and I started out with...a bottle of white wine. We ordered the crispy Patagonia calamari and the smoke springbok carpaccio. Both came with rocket lettuce. The calamari also had a salsa and aioli while the springbok came with Parmesan strips in a vinaigrette. We ordered the slow roasted deboned lamb neck with a mint mashed potato, tempura green beans and red wine au jus. We also ordered the exotic mushroom risotto as this was the perfect complement to the lamb. The risotto was topped with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese strips. This was the best tasting lamb dish ever and we eat a lot of lamb!!! Another person in our group ordered the linefish, which was the fish of the day. This, too, was excellent. For the lamb, we switched to a bottle of a wonderful red wine. Several ordered desserts, but I opted to watch a sunset from the balcony All in all, this was a perfect dining experience by an excellent waitstaff. The proprietor even came by to ensure we were well taken care of. First class all the way around.More

A very warm welcome & drinks in the walled / plant filled garden. Super dinner in the air conditioned, traditional dining room. V informed & skilled waitress (Kelly) ensured we chose the best dishes - all but one dish (a great pizza) was off the...specials! Even on a Monday night, it was busy & a lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed our visit & wld recommend.More
