Great hospitality by the two owners and very authentic location. Although the menu is very simple & straight forward (only 3 mains for example); the taste is great. We tried the Bobotie and the Chicken-pie and they both were delicious (must be due to the great cook Maria; who we thanked in her small kitchen => great lady!!).

The menu choices are very limited, which is great because the owner concentrates on the things he does best. BYO ensures you have the best wines and beers. A limited amount of guests ensures there is a personal touch. One of the highlights of Prince Albert. Book in advance and you will have a very comfortable and enjoyable evening. No fuss, just like we want it in the Karoo.

A really quirky little restaurant run by three ex SAA 'Trolley Dollies' . Don't miss going here if you enjoy a plate of home made food at a very reasonable price. No Liquor but your are welcome to bring your own. The owners are very welcoming and it almost feels like having dinner with a group of friends around the kitchen table. A limited but very tasty menu. If you are undecided then they offer a bit of all the dishes on one plate. Dessert was lovely! Loved the heated towels served with tongs just like on the airlines!! Thanks for a memorable evening!

It had very good reviews but we got a mixed reaction from locals. Very small dining area and eccentric hosts, but the background music was very pleasant. The owners had warned us when booking that it was cash only and that it wasn't licenced so we had to bring our own wine. Menu only has three items on it, slow roasted Karoo Lamb, Bobotie or Chicken Pie. The Karoo Lamb was good, but my Bobotie was average. I have had a lot better. Servings are big and we were offered seconds. The highlight was the shaed malva pudding and ice cream, followed by a walk home stargazing at the incredible night sky. Wouldn't be my first choice when I next visit Prince Albert

Very disappointing meal despite good reviews of trip advisor. The meal was extremely disappointing. Was supposed to be ‘home cooked’..everything was either over cooked or tasteless. Service was slow and rubbish. They forgot the starter and informed us that it was good that we did not get it as we would not have eaten it either. A very valid point as the rest of the food was seriously bad. Would recommend that all travellers to the area avoid

This is our restaurant of choice for dinner when staying in Prince Albert. A very limited menu, but very well-cooked food, and a definite artistic ambiance. Our visitors were taken with this restaurant's unique style and thoroughly enjoyed their dinner of lamb and bobotie. Excellent value. Don't forget to take your own wine.

What a charming and cozy restaurant! The food is home cooked, venue is quaint and the ambience is homely. The host and hostess are genuine, funny and local. Expect an honest experience- no frills, just a truly Karoo kitchen meal and hospitality, with some theatrical flair adorning the walls. Highly recommend!

Food was great. Venue need some upgrade interms of lightness and something more in time. You can enyoy your ouma’s food in 2020 atmosphere, no need to great an atmosphere of 40 years back. Will go back for the food if the theme otherwise, much better choices in Prince Albert...

From the moment you enter you are whisked away to a completely unique experience, one that I’m sure you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Food that is top restaurant quality but gives you the nostalgia and comfort and your grandmothers and mothers cooking is what is presented to you, a hearty portion that is so good that eventually you find yourself looking at an empty plate, but don’t worry, there is dessert to tie the evening together in a neat little bow. Our three patrons prove that there are still good people in this world. They are the most welcoming and friendly people that make you feel right at home. Nothing is too much too ask. What a fantastic evening.

It was like sitting down to dinner at my mom’s. Pure good tasty homemade food with huge portions. You will have to book in advance, as “Karoo Kombuis” is very popular and does not seat many guests. No license - so bring your own wine. Also no credit card facility - only cash. Well worth having a meal there.

Small restaurant with surprisingly phenomenal food. We ordered the tender 3 meat combo with the same delicious recipe and preparation they have been serving for 30 years. The proprietors were very friendly. The indoor space was a little dark and crowded but the outdoor patio was lovely to eat at, overlooking an open field across the street.

This restaurant is an absolute must when visiting Prince Albert. You are served by the owners themselves and it is such a treat. Here you will be served a good wholesome three course traditional Karoo plate of food. The food is amazing and every bite is filled with flavor, typical of the Karoo!! You must make a reservation prior to visiting the restaurant. You will not regret visiting them.

A must visit place when you are in Prince Albert. A great South African dining experience. Tasty meals and great flavor..they only have 3 main course menu that you can have it all in one plate, chicken pie, bobotie and slow roast lamb...they all great taste but I love the Bobotie the most! ..not to forget the malva pudding to end your dinner! Although it was loadshedding when we had our dinner but we had a great time ! Thank you!!

An unexpected treat: a little off the main road in an unassuming tiny Karoo house. Everything is cooked in an equally tiny kitchen and served into two small rooms. On our night there were two other, largish parties and ourselves. Louis, Theuns and Maria are long standing residents and add to the intimate experience by treating each table like old friends and prove the adage: "It’s better to do one thing well than ten things poorly” in serving only three choices of mains and dessert. You can choose to have a portion of each on one plate but, it being the Karoo, we felt that we had to go for the lamb and were not disappointed. What a perfect experience. We also recommend doing it after the ‘ghost walk’; the two seem perfectly fitting for a town full of characters and character.

Quirky, small restaurant offering a chalkboard menu, with 2 starters, a choice of 3 mains (or a combo of all 3), and 2 desserts. We opted not to have a starter, and chose the combo of lamb, chicken pie and bobotie as a main course. It was lovely - no frills, just well-made good food. On the dessert side, the malva pudding was the better option of the two. One has to take your own wine, a bonus in our books. The dishes are all very reasonably priced. Cash only, no credit card facilities
