This is the third visit this year, food is good if getting expensive, the setting is fine the only problem this time was indifferent service from a new/badly trained waiter. On previous visits the service was much better

This place is amazing. If you like art, it is highly recommended. Restaurant itself is nothing special. Pretty basic with ever age service. Meals are good but portions are small and overpriced. Once of most expensive and smallest meals I had in a while. Gallery...More

We had a meal at Gallery Cafe last weekend. It was super busy so the service was quite slow although they were attentive I felt like I had to write a review to say that their mains were a little bit of a let down...More

We had a Sunday evening dinner on the verandah of this restaurant and loved it. The service was slightly slow but the food was delicious and the wine very good. As Prince Albert gets warmer in the summer I would imagine that the upper floor...More

The food is just as beautifully presented as the art on the walls. Maybe just more seasoning is needed on the dishes. A bit on the expensive side but all in all a good experience.

Strange that this Restaurant is called a cafe - and equally unusual is that is is also an art gallery. We chose the place after reading TA reviews. We had 2, 3 and 4 options lined-up had we not had good first impressions. We had...More

Brent Phillips-White, owner and executive chef at the Gallery Café is self-trained and uses his passion for ingredients and fresh produce to excellent use creating dishes inspired by his many and varied travels. Elements of the Mediterranean, Middle East and the wonderful spices of Asia, from India to Vietnam, are incorporated into many of the dishes. The most popular meals feature game (currently black wildebeest fillet), local Karoo lamb dishes and duck, port and black cherry pie. The favoured vegetarian meals are the North Indian Brinjals Albaras or the vegan dish Quinoa Risotto. In winter, heartier fare such as lamb bredie (stew), or heart-warming shanks in a rich tomato and red wine sauce, or Osso Bucco with Saffron Risotto reappears. The Gallery Café’s lamb, vegetable, chicken and game stocks are made from scratch and Brent takes great care to source local ingredients, many from the garden he planted to supply the restaurant. Other components of his meals come from farms and farmers’ markets between Prince Albert and George; Belgian Chocolate is couriered monthly from Gauteng. The menu for the Gallery Café remains consistent with seasonal changes, made to accommodate the availability and quality of the produce. Brent has a small team in the kitchen to help create these dishes daily.
