Living in Houtbay is safe. I have owned a house here since 2015 and moved here from Higgovale permanently in 2021 mainly yo escape the unsavory invironment of the City. It is a 20 minute drive from Cape Town along a splendid part of the coast. Yes it had a large informal settlement but so does Hermanus and Kommetjie, and hence it should not detract from its popularity. Serveral wine estates are situated within a few kilometers and there are 3 beaches to choose from. Children still play in the street and people genuinly care about each other.

Originally a fisherman’s cottage, overlooking the banks of the Baviaanskloof River, that come winter is a gushing wonder, Hout Bay Coffee is a rustic and real authentic experience, in addition to having the best coffee in town.
Offering two Signature Blends and seven Single Origin coffees from around the world, all their coffees are thoughtfully sourced, small-batch roasted on the property and freshly delivered.
The Roast Master: Paul John Myburgh.
Top tip: Visit in the afternoon for the delicious aroma’s that waft from Paul’s roasting in the back room.

As an avid coffee lover, I've had many, many brews over the course of my life, both foreign and native. As such, I've gained a bit of an... Exotic taste, shall we say, one that can be quite difficult to please.
So imagine my surprise when I stumble upon a small little cafe on a trip out in Hout Bay. Rustic, warm and inviting, with a cheese cake to die for and a scenic view of the river, I highly recommend it for anyone passing through.
As a caffeine addict, their selection was pleasing and wide, subtle and varied enough to suit many a pallet yet not so overpowering to cause confusion or hesitance.
Their menu is quite diverse as well, with sweets and meals and sides aplenty. As I said, the cheese cake is to die for, and paired with a beautifully done Arabian blend, it serves only to heighten the experience. Had I brought a book, there's a good chance I wouldn't have left as the day drew closer to a close!
That is to say nothing of the service. With a nimble, quick, and lovely staff, they are also quite quite happy to endulge inquisitive minds and answer any questions aimed towards their business and selection.
With the holiday season now reaching its apex, the café offers itself as an oasis to weary and worn travellers and workers who need some time to unwind before and after a long day's work. Tensions may rise quickly during the waning days of mid December, so for all those looking for a moment of relaxation, a beautiful lunch or bunch location or the perfect place for a novelized date, I can not recommend them enough.

An excellent vibrant market place to visit. Lots of arts and crafts. Live music band and lots to taste and eat. Good place to hang out for a few beers. Awesome experience and very reasonably priced items to buy as gifts.

What a gem we have in Hout Bay. The coffee is excellent and the ambiance in the coffee shop is just lovely. I regularly go there to buy my coffee beans for my machine back at home, I even have friends from France asking me to bring back their Ethiopian coffee which is always a great success. I will keep on coming back for great coffee and friendly staff. Thank you

A tiny roaster outside Cape Town in Houtbay. This place was recommended to us by another coffee shop in Cape Town. Best Coffee we have ever tasted. They also serve cakes and small breakfast dishes. Old cottage with outside seating on a stream.

I had a couple of minutes to spare before a meeting in Houtbay and needed coffee to fill the gap. Searched on Tripadvisor and found this gem.
Not the easiest spot to find in town, but definitely worth the search.
Great coffee, single shot flat white made to perfection. Great to see guys taking pride in their work.
Will drive out there just for the coffee next time!!

During our 4 days in Cape Town we visited this great Coffee Shop everyday, one day even twice.
If you value high-quality coffee you should not miss out on this one!
We are looking forward to have a cappuccino at home made from the beans purchased here!
Besides the cappucino, we can also highly recommend the cheese cake and the quiche! So tasty!!!

Discovered this little gem fully last year...& it really is a must visit if you enjoy great quality coffee.... Paul does all his own selections of roasts from a variety of fresh beans from all over the world..... his Africano (his tongue in cheek knock at Americano!) blend is exceptional.... his chicken pie is excellent not to mention his orange/lemon drissle cake combined with a shot of Cointreau ...omg to die for.... we cant resist !

This little unknown roastery and coffee shop is quite something. Not the norm, very cool, and certainly very good coffee!
I joined my friend here for delicious coffee and she savoured the baked cheesecake. I had a bite and it was heaven!
This seems to be more than a coffee shop: here one becomes part of a community, part of a story about coffee and real people who love what they do.
Ideal for those who are passionate about coffee and life in general.

Located in the tiniest of cottages is a true coffee gem. A small but delicious menu was available with yummy cakes and quiches. Try the home made rusks, they are delicious!
