Luckily we discovered the shop during a quick stop in Hout Bay, having followed the smell of roasting coffee! I've worked for a large commercial coffee roaster and, on holiday, love to go and visit artisan roasteries. Paul, the master roaster, found me oogling his roasting shed and was so kind in spending his time talking coffee with an over-excited tourist! The coffee shop is beautiful, quirky and vintage, and the coffees (their Harbour blend) were very good. I also bought four other roasts in whole bean (easier for travelling) and Paul ground up some more of the Harbour blend for the Aeropress which we bought. I know that I am a coffee geek, and if you are too, this is a gem of a place. Equally, if you just want a good cup of coffee, served by friendly and knowledgeable staff in a lovely location and with a great choice of cakes, this is the place for you. Next time I am in Hout Bay, I will be back!

Hidden away from the main roads, rustic and authentic. I loved the setting in the garden and "forest", and the coffee bags recycled into cushions... The inside is quite authentic as well - very old building full of history. I don't drink coffee, but I had a loose leave tea and a very nice and moist orange and almond cake - Excellent! You can see and taste that everything is home made... The menu is more sweet than savory, but I like it... I'll be back!

A little bit hidden away but great when you find it. Yes the locals all know about it and it does a good trade in selling coffe beans and ground coffee. The ambience is very rustic and that is the charm of this small establishment. A very wide choice of coffees and cakes/pies to go with it. Hvae visited it a few times during stay in Hout Bay and will definitely be going again when next in SA

Our regular go to coffee house. The BEST tasting capuccino's anywhere. It's roasted on site and in spite of the many coffee houses in CapeTown supposedly boasting world class coffee, this remains unbeaten in my family's opinions. Don't expect a smart city slicker coffee shop vibe, it's rustic, villagey, and rough around the edges decor, but the coffee is incredible.

Everytime when we're in Southafrica we're planinig our Tour in that way, that we have time to visit minimum once during the trip the cozy Houtbay Coffee. This time we are stranded in Llandudno because of the Lockdown. But we found Houtbay Filtercoffee at the Spar in Houtbay. So the cup of Coffee helps us getting along the boredom. Thanks to the lovely owners and employees. We're sure coming back again to your wonderful, relaxing place. Stay healthy Susanne and Jörg / Germany

Went in to buy ground coffee here, which I have had before and it was amazing. But the owner/managers? were maskless, and one questioned why I was wearing a mask. As a healthcare worker, as someone who has never worked harder in her life as in the last year, a year filled with personal and professional tragedy, I found myself in a heated and useless exchange, and much of the the grief of the past year rose up in me. These privileged types are dangerous and reckless. Not a great way of keeping customers either. Won't be back.

Best coffee in Hout Bay!!! Although sometimes it takes time- but waiting is totally worth it. Cakes are also really really nice!

You'd have to search hard for a better brew anywhere. The coffee - strong and hot - is served in a rustic setting, casual and cheerful. Scones and other small bites available.

Had a cappuccino that tasted like a blended ricoffee. Disappointed due to a very poorly made cappuccinno, absolutely no flavour.

Generally looks like an old fisherman’s shack, part of its appeal! Quality of produce is its hallmark, first rate and good service.

My wife and I hit this place every time we are in Hout Bay. The cappucino and moist orange cake are to die for. I think it's about time to head over there again today.
