A wonderful culinary experience from the past. Nothing has changed here since the days of jazz at Sunday lunches, except - the quality of the food improved and the diners became more. We visited on a Sunday and arrived before 12:00 to get a nice...table. Soon there was a long queue and many had to turn around as the restaurant was full. Consistent good food will always bring in the customers. Most people were there for the full experience - starters or salads, 2 different mains, lovely chilled wine and at the end dessert and coffee with a cognac. That is exactly what we have done. We enjoyed a 3 hour lunch and every dish served was quality and value for money. The service was friendly, efficient and not in your face. It was clean and we never saw a fly despite all the seafood served. The only frown I have is the rather expensive wine list. Overall a 5 star experience. Get there early.More

The good was terribly expensive for the portion size the dished out, calamari and Portuguese Steak, price R220, which is outrageous price for 6 cubes of meat/steak, and 8 pieces of Calamari. The vegetables were carrots broccoli and cauliflower I think, not even a palm...of your hand portion, pathetic…another in our party ordered the calamari main, it’s was old stale and I’m pretty sure reheated, disgusting food.. never again, complete rip-off. Another person ordered a rock shandy, a 200 ml can of premade shandy was served up, wtf..??? Never again don’t go it’s a terrible unacceptable rip off..More

The is an old favourite and we managed to get in for an early lunch during the festive season, with our respective mothers and my son. I had determined that everyone was to have the famous calamari, but it was not to be. My wife...and I had it - and as usual it was tender and delicious - just sublime. My son had the prawn and calamari pan (he's had it here before) and demolished it. The grannies both had linefish - yellowtail. Now, linefish can often be a bit dry, but this was moist and very tasty (I did quality control), so the grannies cleaned their plates. The accompanying veggies were pronounced to be cooked "just right" - high praise from the grannies. To finish off, one granny wondered what Eton Mess was, and after finishing a huge portion, decided it is a new favourite. I saw a review that called this eatery a "tourist trap" - it is anything but that. Good friendly service, wonderful food, relaxed atmosphere, prices that are very reasonable (no tourist should complain). Frankly it is a restaurant that appears to have weathered the fickle Cape Town eating scene for years - which in itself is an achievement. We'll definitely return.More

The Chapman’s Peak Hotel restaurant is always good. Great calamari, decent service and fantastic chips. We came for lunch, got exactly what we’d been yearning for and left satiated. It’s a good option for sure!

Nice setting, affordable, good variety. Calamari is a must. Had the peri chicken for mains- it was ok. Served in a pan - didn't like the metallic taste it creates.

I love going here for their famous Calamari in the pan. The drink selection is a lot of fun too. And the views are great if you get the front corner table on the patio (smokers section).

R900 for 3 plates of cold fish and chips! And 2 glasses of wine and a small salad… Seriously! On a cold Misty afternoon on a cold terrace the last thing you want is COLD FOOD. Please explain to me why you cannot put hot...food on hot plates and bring the food hot? Your a restaurant not a cafe. Get your stuff together guys, get your kitchen staff to taste the food and understand WHY! Education… coz if not you are gonna loose good customers! NOT HAPPY!More

I would say not before 10:30 pm the earliest especially since the sun only sets around 8:30pm in Cape Town at the moment.

Hi, it's probably online but to my mind it is medium price range with seafood, steak and Portuguese specialities. Hope you enjoy.
